This was probably the first race since DJR got the Sierra RS500 running fast and reliable that Johnson was pushed all the way to the end by another Sierra that wasn't his team mate who Dick had allowed to close up for a 1-2 Shell Team finish. Brock was never going to win this race as Dick still had a slight speed advantage, but the days of the Shell Sierra ATCC domination were coming to a close.
