I'm still amazed at all that got through though. Notably one of the later episodes with a funeral in space, done years before Star Trek II. Heinlein would have been proud of that scene. I remember loving this show as a kid, because of that depth and realism in the characters and their decisions. They had issues too, Derek is a jerk a lot of times early on but Avatar doesn't give up on him.
Not to sound morbid, but it is pure tragic romanticism when the female sacrifices herself for the better of everyone else. Shakespear knew that very well.
@miyabifanta Sadly, due to the stringent TV censors of the 70's kids shows, writers were forced to come up with illogical and contradictory dialogue (like the sample you've given) to cover up the more obvious death scenes in the original Yamato. Compared to the logical loopholes other kids shows were forced into like Jason of Star Command (where even the villains couldn't use the word "kill" or "death".), Starblazers was lucky. Besides, even the doctor had to be drinking "spring water".
I loved this show
the Captain's hat must be glued to head to cover up his bald head...HE NEVER takes it off!
LOVED THIS MUSIC......dont know about everybody else...this always made me cry.....at 12 and 43 year old...
The pistol sounds are the same as in the Galaxy Express movies.
It just hit me- I haven't seen a single black person aboard the Argo. Only yellow and white.
oh deslock is gonna get it now..
why did it take so little time to get back????
No fighting.. so basically a straight line.. the new reboot series does a better job at addressing the return flight better..
Nova with a legendary act of bravery that literally saved the whole world.
Don't backtalk Desslok when he has a whip :0
A b1tch slap of an epic portion!!

avatar knew he was dying talking w sane
I always thought it was funny that it took them 22 episodes to get to Iscandar (they don't leave Earth till ep3) and only one episode to get back!

@Halpin2006. You're right! This show dealt with a lot of psychodrama. That's a lot for a kids cartoon.
radioactive sleeping gas?? It's just sleeping gas LOL.

Trelaina and Venture were the item. See the Comet Empire series.
@80srama1 Too True! All thanks to the ongoing Hayes code, established by the Catholic Church!
Was that like a sexual thang, Deslock's cannon.
Wait, wait... Wildstars brother and Starsha? I thought he was dead. Where did this come from?
I could have sworn Starsha and Venture were the item
I want them to keep nova dead, becuase they brang alex back and took away any impact his death had. Its okay for someone to die!
sad....nova...
@josedude8 Couldn't be worse than Obama.
