Love your tutorials, Mikey. I recommend them whenever someone mentions Tunisian crochet. The video is always clean and clear, your voice is pleasant, and you don't talk too fast nor do you sound like you are talking to little kids. I also love that this is a tutorial for a hat from a flat panel. Most of the ones I've seen start with the "magic circle". Thank you!
Easier said than done at 78 with arthritic fingers. But I will try as I need the exercise for my fingers. 😂 next time I will chain 1 full size larger. 😢
Hi Mikey I have now made three of these hats, and I am having an issue with the reducing 6th row. I now put markers in the stitches I need to miss. And 5th row end with 36 stitches and I can't seem to get 9 skipped stitches on the 6th row to end up with 27 stitches. Kind regards Irene ( Scotland-UK)
Was feeling really dumb that I made the hat but then couldn’t figure out how to close the top! Sorry visual learner and not seeing it. Draw all the way through? Finally figured out that on the last pass back you just draw through them all. Just posting for anyone else out there that hasn’t done this before
Hi Mikey. If the adult size calls for ch of 76 and we start Row2 with 2Tks and 2Tps for the ribbing effect, should we not end with 2Tks so when we close both sides together the pattern looks even all the way around?
I want to use lio n brand vanna 's choice. 74 seems like a lot of stitches, and i'm using a L hook ( 2 sizes up from reommended) how many chains should i start with. do i hold it up to my head and s top chaining when it fits around my head? already made 2 of these uwing deborqh norville everyday soft yarn . 1st was too big. second was better as i did ferwer r owws. how many do i chain MICKEY? \
Ok i guess i need to back up and learn the basics of tunisian first cause mine looks horrible lol i just saw this hat and loved it oh well i will do it soon i will learn this!
I really want a Tunisian hook now. I had one before but now I cannot find it. Too bad the 24-hour walmart is about 45 minutes away and is full of weird people buying things at this time at night (and I would include myself in that if I decide to go hehehehe). Love your tutorials and want to say thank you for making them!!
lol I am one of the weird people. I hate Wally World during the day hours its so crowded. Go at about 11pm, there are still lines but not as long. Hope you have your Tunisian needle now.
All I have that I can find is a K Tunisian hook. I know you chain 76 with the J hook but if I chain 72 with k hook will it make it adult size since it's a bigger hook? Thank you.
You didnt mention how many rows of decrease you do before you sinch the top closed? I get the pattern of decreasing each row, but how many rows do you do this for before you have decreased it enough to sinch closed and look nice?
Good evening! Thanks for this beautiful video! I am watching you long time now! I have a ball of yarn that the suggested hook is 8. How many chains should i start with, for a child hat? Thanks again!
I'm really not sure. I haven't done this design for a child size. So I am unsure how much to decrease it without doing test trials. I am sorry, I just don't know.
I listen to alot of foreign language tutorials so here's my tip: just watch and listen, then watch and do. By the way, Mikey is our neighbor in Canada!
hi from UK. I love your videos your my fav crochet drama queen lolll. Being serious your great I do all my crochet through your videos. Trust me I've watched many tutorials and none explain as good as you. Took me for ever to get Tunisian hook. And when I did lady told me use say a double knit wool with higher hook size than u would. So if u used chunky wool go for like 8 hook not 6. And if u used double knit wool drop down to say size 5 hook ..else in her words they look like dish clothes loll ...and sag down she said. Do u think that correct. ?? Anyway I ramble on. Keep up the videos. 😀😀
Don't rely on stitch count. Use a tape measure instead. Measure the baby's head and work out what circumference the hat needs to be, then just chain a foundation chain that is the appropriate length for the baby's head (use a tape measure to check the length of the chain as you are making it). Relying on stitch count to try and guarantee the size of a hat is not a good idea, because the number of stitches each person produces will depend on the yarn they are using, their hook size, and their own unique personal tension. Relying on measurements is much better, and will ensure you get the required result. Just keep a tape measure handy and you should be fine.
It would be helpful to show how to finish it (i.e., seam it together properly). The pattern is not helpful. It says "sew back seam." Huh?! What technique do you use to do that? Thanks!
Learned to crochet using your Videos. Thank you Mikey

Thank you for this tutorial it’s exactly what I’ve been looking for, much faster than the pattern I have been using,❤️👍

Oh I am going to try this pattern for a hat but I started one with regular Tunisian stitch👍😊💕💫

Thank you for this tutorial! Very well explained...nervous but excited to try. Love Crochet Crowd!💙

Gosto muito de ver estes trabalhos !
já fiz alguns e adorei !!! obrigado
Very cool yarn!!!
how many row or length for the square?
I found some amazing 48 inch long Tunisian hooks made from bamboo and another set from acrylic on eBay for a very good price...
Xandra Williams could you please send the address of eBay I want to buy Tunisian hooks
I found the long metal ones heavy, the plastic ones stick, but you can find wood/bamboo. Like crochet needles, you'll find what works.
Ok i guess i need to back up and learn the basics of tunisian first cause mine looks horrible lol i just saw this hat and loved it oh well i will do it soon i will learn this!
I wish you had shown how you join it. How can I do this for a preemie and new born? Thank you in advance
Is it stretchy horizontally and vertically?

how to join hat together, please ??!!
Love this pattern. Can you use this pattern for an afgan? If so, what edging would you use to keep the ends from curling?
They all curl until you crochet around it.
Yes, Tunisian curls but blocking will help.
i have 4 size hook.can i do it this hat????please
I bet this hat looks awesome made with Red Heart “Amore”.
Would you do this for a child size hat
that's nice thank you mickey..

Change the yarn. Traditionally you jump up at least 1, 1 1/2 mm in the size of the hook.

+paperdoll mom see the directions. your go 8 drop one, then a row of 7 drop one, then 6, etc....
I get the etc...but was wondering how long you continue to do that before sinching it closed. Anyways, I was able to figure it out. So all is good!

where can I buy this yarn?

Oh and she said they always roll up ?? I see it a little in video but your finished hat doesn't look like it rolled up.
Is there a reason you don't just do it in the round?
How many stitches would I need to do this hat for a baby?
a lot fewer than 70
+Loren
Don't rely on stitch count. Use a tape measure instead. Measure the baby's head and work out what circumference the hat needs to be, then just chain a foundation chain that is the appropriate length for the baby's head (use a tape measure to check the length of the chain as you are making it).

Very nice need too try this one for sure!
Is this yarn the same as bernat super value ombre since that's what joann.com has. I cant find the yarn you're using.
It would be helpful to show how to finish it (i.e., seam it together properly). The pattern is not helpful. It says "sew back seam." Huh?! What technique do you use to do that? Thanks!
I would do a whip stitch. We have a tutorial for that.
I did a slip stitch with the same yarn along the seam. As if you were joining the headband part of a hat.
I've seen it at Walmart.
