Quicktip: How To Set Up a Perspective Grid Matching a Photo

  • If you want to draw in the same perspective as a sketch or photo, you need to find the perspective in that template and then set up the perspective grid. Here's how to do that.

    cool trick but can you draw that perspective grid by hand

    Okay, apparently I am not connecting with the term perspective grid you are demonstrating. Is the objective here to build a wire frame grid using a building as a reference object?

      The perspective grid in Illustrator serves in order to draw objects in perspective. And this video shows how to set it up so that it matches the perspective of a photo. You can use the technique for sketches too.

    Thanks Monika this seems to be a laborious task in AI. Not sure why Adobe cannot use the same tool they already have in Photoshop to accomplish this. If you have the Creative Cloud suite would suggest changing the perspective in PS then move to AI.

      If you want to change perspective, then Photoshop is better. But that's not what's happening here.
