He was born with that - monkeys groom their friends instinctively. To keep their fur clean and w/o fleas.
Also to socialize and curry favor.

My mother would pop you up side of the head when she would be combing our hair. She would fuss at us to turn or hold your head up. If you were not cooperating you might get popped with the comb.
