Listening to this song by Waits, I've always pictured in my mind's eye either a lone figure walking, stumbling and climbing a steep mountainside and the rhythm and pace of this cover imply the same as the original by Tom Waits. The backing choir gives it extra power too. Absolutely wonderful!
Excellent choice of EQ/mic for the vocal. Sounded like reverb and distortion through a warm tube amp to me. Not many people have a voice suitable for covering any Waits songs without making it sound forced. You do though. All the way through, on every single verse, you captured the soul of this song. Very well done.
