What you said about women who are divorced or widowed and freedom really struck me. It was a totally different generation, but I saw this in my Grandmother. She and my grandfather had been married for sixty-eight years when he died in 2008. At that time my grandmother was 88 years old. We were all worried that she would soon follow as happens with people who have been together a long time. She lived another ten years, and it was a very different life. She put on her first pair of pants after my grandfather died (can you imagine gardening in a dress? which she did for many, many years as they had a full garden and grew, canned and froze the food that would see them through the year). She took her first sip of wine. She read books and watched movies that she never would have before. She was liberated. Don't get me wrong. She and my grandfather absolutely loved one another and were the rock that our family was built on. She respected the fact that he was the head of the household and what he said was law (again, a different generation) and they were very happy together, but she had her own mind and ideas and was more wont to move with the times - he was not.
I’m glad she had some time to live her life on her own terms. It reminds me of a widow my mother knew who after her husband died started buying beautiful art works because her husband had forbidden her to hang anything ( anything!) on the walls when he was alive. I was so glad to hear she was happily choosing and displaying art that made her happy.
@@SheilaEnglish2 Wow. That's extreme! My grandparents were definitely not like that. Although, my grandmom had an affinity for antique furniture and she joked about one piece that she bought that it nearly caused a divorce. Of course it never would have, but apparently granddad said ENOUGH! I really cannot even imagine them fighting.
My parents were married 44 years till my dad died. But I can honestly say they never once had an argument in front of me. They may have had a disagreemen after I went to bed but my dad never raised his voice to me or my mother. He only had to give me that look or he would wag his long finger at me and I knew it was time to stop and behave or else. I never did find out what "or else" was.
When my Mom and her sister were young, they decided to try on the perfume their Mum kept on the mantelpiece. They loved the scent. My grandmother was mortified to find that they went around Sunderland smelling of her perfumed gin!
If Meghan dumped her titles, i would have no problem with her plugging anything, including shops. It's doing it while pretending to be a Royal that bugs me.
But does Zara exploit a title given to her by a family who she betrayed and apparently lied about A LOT … for money??? No So yeah you go for it Zara!!!!
No, Zara can't exploit a title because she doesn't have one. Her father was just Mr Philips and her mother Princess Ann refused a title for her children. So she is just plain Mrs Zara Tindall (still often referred to as Zara Philips).
Zara has such a lovely disposition. She is truly a "nice person". They also have a young family so it is nice that William's children have cousins to grow up with.
Speaking of living on one's own it is rather up to each of us. I have been a widow for 43 years. My husband was killed in an accident three days after his 32nd birthday. My youngest daughter was not even in kindergarten. If it were not for my children I doubt that I could have gone on. There are times when I still miss him terribly and it is the small things that trip me up. A cup of tea before bed, fresh sheets on the bed, all of the small habits we had. To this day I have been unable to bear the smell of the soap he used. So you learn to live with the pain but you never truly "get over".
Divorce was the worst grief for me by far and i felt very betrayed by friends who knew of the affair. On the other side, on an earlier occasion, when i knew of a long term affair and the wife, a good friend, asked if i knew & i couldn't lie, i saw the look of utter betrayal on her face.
I can relate to that, when my good friend told me she found out her husband and so and so were into several years of an affair, I said’ I know’ the look on my good friends face was utter shock and betrayal ; we never got together after that and I just know had I been the one to tell her months before her daughter did, she would have dumped me then too.. One doesn’t know which road to take on this .. either way I lost a friend I was so fond of.
Anne, I'm so very sorry. Very fresh for me... After over 15 years, just this last July, my man left, no notice, no talks... months later he was married. I was gobsmacked. Friends knew. But he violated the trust of so many my good friends have stuck with me. Fortunately, the farm is mine, I have my animals. I'm fine. Hugs to you, stay strong! ❤
As I pointed out to my friend who was disappointed in me because I too didn’t share some gossip about another friend when she later found out I knew, I was specifically asked not to share and she should feel encouraged because it meant I also wouldn’t share her secrets shared with me. I still don’t regret how I behaved and we’re all still friends today. ❤️from Australia 🇦🇺.
Almost every woman I know, including myself, who have been in long, at least relatively happy marriages say the samething, they would never remarry. They have no interest in starting over, adjusting to and running everything they do thru another person. 3 of them are already widows, all attractive, active, financially stable, as normal as we can be "normal", and all are completely content single.
Hi Shauna, love your ‘gossip before Bed’ still a bit sad at the loss of my beloved husband also a year ago but your comments about being on your own struck a chord! Enjoying doing and watching whatever l like, never thought I had signed up for figuring out what to eat every day for 67 years. Had a wonderful life lived in UK for 30 years after marrying an Aussie a riding instructor who met Princess Anne and Zara several times riding in UK. We retired back to Adelaide where I still live and love each day as it’s bringing so many new things to my life.
Good morning Shauna from a sunny UK. At last the snow has gone. Zar and Mike are wonderful they such a fun loving couple. MM probably turned green see Zara with Delphian.
Zara, Mike, Nacho & Delphina made many headlines with photos at last year at Magic Millions. It's not new news. Both Zara and Nacho are ambassadors or patrons for the annual event.
It' simply not the same, when Zarah for once shows how much she likes shopping at the GoldCoast, or when Megsey jumps at every opportunity for a foto op - even staged ones, where she hugs an employee rather than true wildfire victims ... . With Zahra it is totally authentic, whatever she's doing.
Texan here. Beginning my day with coffee and Shauna at 6am. When I visited Australia about 30 years ago, we had gone to the Sydney Zoo and were enjoying a lovely day. We kept hearing these really loud thuds lake a sledge hammer and wondered if they were doing major construction? It went on so long, we turned a corner to see what was happening. We saw two large kangaroos boxing it out! They were balanced up on their large tails and punching away! It was the best boxing match I have ever seen. It was pretty ferocious and very loud. What an interesting memory it has left. I know the British enjoy their betting. I wouldn’t be surprised if they bet on Kangaroo Boxing. Matches!
@lizroberts1569 like anything involving animals, there is good and bad. I've seen polo matches, and the pony's genuinely seem to enjoy it. One of the most amazing examples of horse handling (ground) I've ever seen was at a polo match.
Well said! 👏👏👏👏 I have watched both William and Charles play polo and neither of them are as aggressive as Harry. He is not really revered in polo circles because if the way get treats his ponies.
I love light and fluffy, but I like the idea of balanced information on big topics. You can't get away from it,so it's best to have a reasonable discussion. Love from Florida ❤🌞
The difference is that Zara isn't using a Royal title, and I'm sure she wouldn't even if she had a title. I doubt any shopping centre would want Meghan advertising them as she's so disliked it would turn people away. Whereas Zara is very well liked.
Shauna, your coverage of the Jack-the-Ripper case is fascinating. I also loved your spider-stories! Shudder. But I must say, I can't kill anything other than a tick or a mosquito - I put a container over a spider, slide a piece of paper under it, and release it outside. Once, a rain-spider who was sitting on her nest in the top corner of my bathroom door, HISSED at me. I left her alone, and the next day there were a million "full-stops" running all over the place. My hens seemed to sort that situation out quite promptly. I regularly throw a towel over rats my cat has brought in, and put them back in the garden. If they're already dead, I let her play around with them until they start smelling, but I can't bear the fearful squeals. I have never killed a spider.
DON'T KILL SPIDERS. 💔🕷💔 I'm a US Midwesterner who, in my 20's, was over in Queensland visiting friends/family, and the friends my coz and I were staying with had a Huntsman in their apartment! No one said a word in the days leading up until I found it in my room by accident as I turned on a light and it ran across the tile floor with a "pat, pat, pat, pat" and hid behind my duffle bag. I waited a few moment to see where it would go, because I needed something that was in my bag, and was surprised when a big face with many eyes peered at me around my bag, as if to say, "Would you mind turning out the light, I'm shy." I told the couple we were staying with and they laughed, saying that the spider moved in a few years ago and that they just haven't bothered to relocate it. They told me that sometimes they could feel it crawling over them as they slept in bed!! That was where I drew the line. 😬 I asked them if they would mind if I relocated it and, bemused, they said "Sure, have at it!" After all, I had already been dubbed the "Crazy American," so it seemed fitting. It was New Years Eve and there was a dozen or more young strapping surfer boys packed into the living room. I asked them to assist and NOT ONE would! Cowards, the lot. Determined I went into the kitchen, grabbed a large salad bowl and a girlie magazine from the bathroom and returned to my room to capture my roommate. I caught the poor thing quickly enough, as it was still hiding behing my bag -- with legs and all as big as a dinner plate -- and promptly walked it out of the flat, down the stairs, and across the parking lot to the hedge row. Feeling as if i was being watched, I looked up to the balcony to see over a dozen surfer boys and the handful of gals qued up on the railing, in fits of giggles and cheers, watching me. Then SILENCE. I turned the bowl away from me, palming the base with my left hand, and quickly pulled the magazine away with my right, and heartily shook the bowl three times. Nothing. Not having seen the spider fall out, but believing I shook the bowl hard enough, I turned the mouth of the bowl towards me to look and see if the spider had indeed fallen out, when it JUMPED OUT at me, legs splayed, like a scene out of a horror movie, at which point I lost all dignity and became a screaming flailing mess. The boys never let me live it down, although many admitted I had done what they were always too afraid to do. 💜 My coz sadly died of cancer just a couple years ago, he was in his mid 40's, just a young man with a lovely wife and young child of his own. Cancer is such a cruel beast, having taken my own mother at 40 and nearly every one of my rescue dogs too. Telling stories like this keep his memory alive and I find some peace in that. I loved him so very much and don't know when or if I'll ever make it back to the beautiful land down under. But I hope to. 🌏
I used keep a very life huntsman spider in my home... .he used to walk across the ceilings upstairs.....he kept to a regular path....so we avoided each other.. ..he would eat all other bugs, mosquitoes, moths, and smaller spiders. We moved home and 6 months after moving I was delighted he had hitched a ride with the removalist. I think he scares the Sydney harbourside cockroaches..
What an interesting story and how brave you were to move the spider yourself. I must have had a nest in my car once because I had about 10 in the space of a couple of weeks wandering around the car and over me. I relocated them but drew the line when one fell onto my face when I pulled the sun visor down while driving at high speed along a freeway. I set of an insecticide "bomb" in the car and left it sealed for the weekend. No more spiders and no bodies, so perhaps there were only 10 in the family.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Magic millions committee provide very discreet security for the couple. Or the Federal govt provides very discreet security. The kind of guys who blend in and wouldn't be noticed.
I think we do judge people differently for similar conduct and the reason is that when someone is trustworthy and proves to be an overall decent person they get the benefit of the doubt, but when others prove time and time again that their motives are suspect we assume the worst...and we are usually right to do so.
Zara doesn’t have any titles, airs or graces, doesn’t bag her family or country & is accomplished in her own right. She can plug whatever she wants! The Nacho connection is 🥴 though! Imagine the stories they’d share.. or not !! Love the Jack the Ripper story but the funnel web on steroids freaked me out a bit, especially the footsteps! We found 3 deadly redback spiders in our house recently; definitely terrifying! I think I need a cup of tea!! Thanks for inserting your sense of humour into every story, Shauna. Sip!
When Department Stores used to spray you when you approached the perfume counter. One ,perfectly coiffured woman sprayed me with Chanel no5, went on extol the virtue of the perfume, sniffed my neck and said “ ugh, that’s disgusting”. I smelt like I had been sprayed with the local canal contents. I knew it didn’t suit me but didn’t have time to stop her.
I was deathly afraid of spiders, and all insects, for most of my life. About 10 years ago my relationship ended in a horrible way, and a side effect of all of the emotional pain was that I lost all of my fear. Now I have a job where I go out to the woods to catch and record insects, and I love it 😊
Exactly 😊 She doesn't hold a royal title as per Princess Anne's decision. Neither has she ever represented the UK government or the Royal family in any official (constitutional) capacity

I'm starting my New Year's Resolutions slowly. One thing at at time. For the month of January, switch from coffee to tea. February quit smoking. etc. My Grandmother loved parties, people, entertainment, and helping those that needed help in any way. She did it all, had all Birthdays, Anniversaries, Christmases, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Easter, Valentines Day, at her home. She cooked enough for an army and still had left overs. She baked everything you could think of and it would taste like it came from a chef kitchen. I would love to know more about your singing career, a picture or two to show us, a story or two tell us. Please keep doing everything you're doing, because I love everything you've put out Shauna. You're my cup of tea whenever I need to relax.
Polo when played with decorum, good sportsmanship is very pleasant. The pony’s love having a wild romp and they are lovingly cleaned and rested The Harry crowd are vicious and cruel all though I heard it’s only Harry who behaves like that and his mates try to control him with little success. He doesn’t own his own ponies and is now excluded as often as possible. I think Harry has some terrible violence in his history
I heard critics of Harry’s show say that reputable polo players would never treat their horses cruelly. Harry did a disservice in slamming Polo as if all players are those wannabes in his nefarious Netflix show. He’s probably lost even more friends because of it.
I need to work on my Aussie-accent listening skills. 4:20 - I thought you said Delphina was “one of those polo wives that stood on the side and just cheat on their husbands.” Then I realized you actually said, “…and _cheered_ on their husbands.” 😂

I have been a fan of Sutton Foster for years. My impression is that she is a class act. Just delightful! Not to mention the fabulous actress, singer and dancer she is. And…Hugh Jackman impressed me in “The Greatest Showman”, one if my favorite movies of all time. I believe Sutton and Hugh possess the integrity to do the right thing and give them the benefit of the doubt.
I don't think it is biased to provide positive comment on Zara and negative on the other one. SHE has never betrayed anyone in her family. Yes, you could call her a working Royal as she is the granddaughter of HMTQ but her mother chose not to give her a title. Everything she does, whether it is in her role as a member of the RF, or as a private citizen earning a wage, she ALWAYS reflects positively in her family. Even though Edward and Sophie are technically part of Anne and Charles’ generation, they are so much younger and seem to get on so well with PW’s generation, including Z&M. They all seem to be so happy and cheerful and full of fun when they are together. When they are performing their duties they inject sincerity and fun into the event when it is appropriate. Even PC’s visit to Marsden Hospital ended up being such a positive visit for everyone and there was so much joy and laughter as PC was leaving. She brought gentle compassion to those who were commencing their cancer journey and also brought fun and laughter to those further along on their journey or the staff who work in such a stressful environment.
I loved the Zara clip - she is being exactly who she is! Unlike TOW, Zara does not put herself out as the moral compass for the world. Zara is beautiful, rich and kinda cheeky, and Im here for it!
Thanks Shauna for another great “gossip before bed”. Love Zarah and Mike..they are both extremely loyal to the RF and have a lovely family themselves..they are such a happy pair……when is “ not the cooking show” going to start up again. So looking forward to it….i really try to be kind to spiders …..throw a tea towel over them, then chuck them outside..but if they are silly enough to run back inside, well…out comes the Baygone 😀🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Zara and Mike are treated like Royalty when they come to the Gold Coast as Patron of the Magic Millions. The Committee that run the event make sure she is treated like a Princess and always have. Last year I think Zara and Mike were photographed with Chris and Elsa Hemsworth and Nacho on the beach. So yes they have a great time here, Sun, Surf, Sand, great seafood and summer fruits and down to earth hospitality. Nothing posh or stuffy and lots of laughs. No wonder they love it. They will always be welcome here. 🎉
I used to wear Shalimar perfume and was often complimented on the scent. In my mid-40s I went to a guitar store. I was walking near a young 20-something girl when a male sales associate walked by, stopped, looked at the hot-looking young girl and asked is she was wearing Shalimar. She looked confused (obviously she had no idea what it was), so I spoke up and said it was me. The look of disappointment on his face to discover a middle-aged woman was wearing it was priceless. Poor guy, he was sure he was going to impress the young woman. I walked out of the store laughing.

It’s almost a shame she doesn’t have one 😊 She is more a Royal the way she conducts herself than Dimwit , love her , great successful couple M & Z ❤❤❤
@ My mother would raise her left eyebrow and I knew that I was teetering on the edge. That's when I stopped pushing whatever it was.
@@MagicCityGirl same here.
When my Mom and her sister were young, they decided to try on the perfume their Mum kept on the mantelpiece. They loved the scent. My grandmother was mortified to find that they went around Sunderland smelling of her perfumed gin!
How funny! Amazing what children can get up to.
You gave me the giggles!!! Blessings! Jackie in upstate NY
🤣😂
😂😂😂
Oh, that’s so funny! 😂
If Meghan dumped her titles, i would have no problem with her plugging anything, including shops. It's doing it while pretending to be a Royal that bugs me.
She’s pretending to be a royal while not being a royal. It’s inverted snobbery.
Supporting people who you like is integrity in my books. You like Zara for good reasons 😊
But does Zara exploit a title given to her by a family who she betrayed and apparently lied about A LOT … for money???
No
So yeah you go for it Zara!!!!
Yay! ❤
Yeah you have a great point.
Exactly! No Zara and Meghan shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same breath! They are worlds apart in how they conduct themselves…
No she doesn't ..she works hard and has done really well in her area of expertise...equine sports
❤
Divorce was the worst grief for me by far and i felt very betrayed by friends who knew of the affair. On the other side, on an earlier occasion, when i knew of a long term affair and the wife, a good friend, asked if i knew & i couldn't lie, i saw the look of utter betrayal on her face.
Betrayal is the hardest pill to swallow . It stings forever because trust is gone.
Oh that’s really tough. I’m so sorry you went through that. ❤
Zara isn't a Duch-ass. She isn't exploiting the RF. She is a talented in sports and has lots of things to recommend her besides being Royal adjacent.
Hi Shauna. Yes Zara is lovely.
She is indeed! 🙂
'Gossip Before (I get out off Bed) is such a fun way to start my day! Good morning from Canada.
Love it 🥰
Me too , and I slept bit late as I watched Shauna’s live at 1245 AM this morning 😊 have a good day !
I hear ya! I'm still in bed as well! Too cold to get out of a toasty bed! I'm sure you are having cold and snow.....stay warm!
@@janetbowersox83 rain and snow showers here- maybe after another cuppa I will get up- or sooner, my cat is giving me the evil eye! lol
@KellyWynne
The cat can not be denied. 😊
Being widowed is a learning experience and like me you should cherish all the good memories.
@@ronnie7075 Thank you I certainly do.
You are always good for a “juicy” “giggle” Shauna. 😂 “Sip”
Good morning Shauna from a sunny UK.
At last the snow has gone.
Zar and Mike are wonderful they such a fun loving couple.
MM probably turned green see Zara with Delphian.
I bet 😂

@@mariaroldan4200 Thank you for the correction.😊
Zara, Mike, Nacho & Delphina made many headlines with photos at last year at Magic Millions. It's not new news. Both Zara and Nacho are ambassadors or patrons for the annual event.
It' simply not the same, when Zarah for once shows how much she likes shopping at the GoldCoast, or when Megsey jumps at every opportunity for a foto op - even staged ones, where she hugs an employee rather than true wildfire victims ... . With Zahra it is totally authentic, whatever she's doing.
I love how you've grown your channel through the variety of all the programs and formats.
Matches!
Sip!
The do say we Aussies would bet on two flies crawling up a wall.
Zara and Mike have no titles she is Mrs Tindall so they can advertise whatever they want unlike Princess markle and her husband. No double standards.
Polos as cruel as the person riding the pony, it’s a game that’s all. Zara gets the best from her horses but she’s never cruel.
@lizroberts1569 like anything involving animals, there is good and bad. I've seen polo matches, and the pony's genuinely seem to enjoy it. One of the most amazing examples of horse handling (ground) I've ever seen was at a polo match.
You are absolutely correct. Zara is a very talented horsewoman and knows how to get the best from any horse she rides. Kindness.
Love the Tindalls, ❤ There's a huge difference in Z & MM plugging a shopping center, only one is looking for freebies 😉🤣
Only one has a title too!
I feel you 😂
Shauna, your coverage of the Jack-the-Ripper case is fascinating.
I'm a US Midwesterner who, in my 20's, was over in Queensland visiting friends/family, and the friends my coz and I were staying with had a Huntsman in their apartment! No one said a word in the days leading up until I found it in my room by accident as I turned on a light and it ran across the tile floor with a "pat, pat, pat, pat" and hid behind my duffle bag. I waited a few moment to see where it would go, because I needed something that was in my bag, and was surprised when a big face with many eyes peered at me around my bag, as if to say, "Would you mind turning out the light, I'm shy."
I told the couple we were staying with and they laughed, saying that the spider moved in a few years ago and that they just haven't bothered to relocate it.
My coz sadly died of cancer just a couple years ago, he was in his mid 40's, just a young man with a lovely wife and young child of his own.
Hello Shauna, great topics. Sip! Sip! Sip! ☕️🫖❤🇨🇦
Zara looked great, what where was the security.....
Good point! 😂
@@thevintageread
Nota working royal so she doesn’t get it.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Magic millions committee provide very discreet security for the couple. Or the Federal govt provides very discreet security. The kind of guys who blend in and wouldn't be noticed.
It’s the loss of friends that hit the most I think
Yes very hard xxx
I think your podcast is FANTASTIC. Please keep it.
I think we do judge people differently for similar conduct and the reason is that when someone is trustworthy and proves to be an overall decent person they get the benefit of the doubt, but when others prove time and time again that their motives are suspect we assume the worst...and we are usually right to do so.
Love whatever you do, Shauna. A gifted lass you are. Sip, sip and lots of love ❤
Sip!

Well, Zara is not a working royal, she can do as she pleases. I love her. ❤
Thank you SO much for the warning about spider stories Shauna. I am a spider phob and really appreciate your sensitivity to those of us who are! ❤
I really enjoy your collabs with Phil and Andrew. Very interesting
I was deathly afraid of spiders, and all insects, for most of my life. About 10 years ago my relationship ended in a horrible way, and a side effect of all of the emotional pain was that I lost all of my fear. Now I have a job where I go out to the woods to catch and record insects, and I love it 😊
So glad about the tea report! My doctor keeps telling me to drink water but I hate it. I do drink iced tea all the time , joke is on him.
Zarah doesn’t use a Royal title is the difference 💚🇦🇺
Yes x Love Zara x
Exactly 😊 She doesn't hold a royal title as per Princess Anne's decision. Neither has she ever represented the UK government or the Royal family in any official (constitutional) capacity
I truly believe what you said about tea. In my family any time there was a crisis or just a bad day my gran, mom, anyone would say have a cup of tea and you will feel better. It actually does work!

Good morning Shawna for the USA. I always get a giggle from you. So thank you for that. Have a great day.
The pony’s love having a wild romp and they are lovingly cleaned and rested
The Harry crowd are vicious and cruel all though I heard it’s only Harry who behaves like that and his mates try to control him with little success. He doesn’t own his own ponies and is now excluded as often as possible.
I think Harry has some terrible violence in his history
I just think he lacks empathy....if you know what I mean.
I'll need to put my Bailey's away and start on the teabags 😅.
That gave me a laugh. I'm an Aussie, but understand completely

That's a very kind way to treat spiders! 🕷️
Great show. Usually I can’t watch because the “Sip” grinds on my nerves but aside from that small thing!
There's definitely enough variety in your channel for people to only watch certain types of content if they want to. I, however, will continue to watch it all. Loved the spooky story tonight!
I absolutely love your collaboration with Phil, keep it coming 😊 xx
