It just makes it all the more tragic. I never looked at it from Ben’s POV. to him, Luke is the bad guy. And he’s been hurting, and felt so betrayed by what his uncle did. All the emotions come out, and then at the end, he’s denied satisfaction of the defeat of his uncle, all while his uncle is mocking and smiling at him.

The original is more optimistic and matches the emotions for each scene (hope, peace, rage, awe). This only feels tragic and sombre. But it is louder and more powerful. And the timing/editing was perfect!
You're absolutely right. I've gone on record and will continue to say that this edit was meant to try and help strengthen Kylo's plight, Rian Johnson clearly saw that Luke in Kylo's eyes is a villain, I wanted to match up Kylo's feelings of hurt, pain and betrayal with this piece of music.
@@KarlVeiga Honestly I think you've done a perfect job of synchronizing the music to express the pain kylo went through because of luke, and how much he hated him because of that, but luke's monologue of how there's still hope on the galaxy and him not being the last jedi and all, that part the music doesn't fit in. And after kylo tried to strike luke down with all his force, unleashing all of his anger and hate built up towards him just to realize that that was only a projection made from the force combined with the louder music just really gave the perfect feeling.

Also I'm fairly sure right before luke met the emperor Vader was saying they should both kill the emperor and rule together, so when Vader killed the emperor I think Vader did not plan on actually being killed
This music perfectly encapsulates everything Kylo Ren/Ben Solo is feeling in this moment…it fits so well that it almost feels like the music was made for this scene.
A Force Awakens --> A New Hope but without the charm or exposition. The Last Jedi --> Rian Johnson wanted to do his own sci-fi film, Disney didn't let him, so now it's a Star Wars film I guess. Something something Skywalker. Rise of Skywalker --> Reylo: the Movie I disliked the sequels as such (they're so poor story-wise in comparison to Extended Universe stuff that it's embarrassing), but honestly TLJ at least tried to do something different. It's probably going to end up a lot like The Empire Strikes Back: mixed reviews, criticized for making Han/Leia a thing, introducing Lando the charismatic chronic backstabber, isolating the protagonist from the rest of the cast because he's training or something, oh and Vader is Luke's father for some reason. People were NOT happy about TESB when it came out. A decade later and suddenly it's the high point of the franchise so far. I really wonder if the same will happen to TLJ in many years to come, you know, when Disney releases an even Star Wars trilogy xD
@@hermionestranger4964 You should check out Ivan Ortega's re-edit of The Last Jedi. It helps to fix quite a few of the issues people had with the film (so far as the available footage would allow). I do think the Sequels are a big missed opportunity; they should've been about Anakin's legacy for the next generation of Jedi, but they went with something else.
@@divergenttardis7378 Thanks, I'll check him out! I agree that the studios could have done way better with the Sequels. It's such a shame -- so much talent, money and time spent on a mediocre product. The main good that came out of it was my newfound appreciation for the prequels and fan films!
The music this guy added fits well with the scene but I felt the scene could've been redeemed a different way. I felt that the original track's 'angelic choir' (music that sounds like a breath of relief) that plays when Rey lifts the rocks fit that scene perfectly, though the scene itself falls flat because it doesn't feel like a payoff for anything. I think that scene alone of Rey and the levitating rocks could have been one of the most outstanding scenes in the film if it had the proper buildup (because this scene aside, TLJ had a lot of other problems...). Perhaps that's a different issue than the music specifically for Luke vs Kylo but that's my take on the thing nonetheless
This is insane. This music changed my whole outlook on this scene. I was originally mad about how Luke went out, but with this music it makes it actually good.
Still a bad movie, because the movie was too stupid to include good music like Karl did. Don't let it change your outlook on the scene, let it show the missed potential the movie had.
I can't decide who got it worse: Kylo Ren- one of the best characters out of the Disney Star Wars trilogy, that lost almost every fight he was in, and felt as intimidating as a legless puppy. OR Finn: A character with a great potential background, that went from ex-stromtrooper turned potential jedi, to comedy guy that has a crush on Rey.
Darryl Ferguson Yeah they really butchered Finn’s character, man. So disappointed. With the exception of Kylo Ren, everyone’s character development is garbage or nonexistent. Sad lol
I struggle to take this entire trilogy seriously, and this movie most of all. But just the change in the score here makes me take the scene seriously and actually feel SOMETHING watching it.
It's so interesting how this piece, which was completely unintended for this scene, fits so well. The rising action of the building tension, the climax of the more intense trumpets, and the taper off with strings all coincide with the scenes same beats.
I absolutely love the music in the original, but this take is incredible. While the original kinda puts you in everyone’s headspace based on who’s got the focus, this one puts you in Kylo’s shoes the entire time and creates the sense that his world is falling apart right in front of him. Very well done!
Yeah it was if Luke vs kylo was actually fighting it would have been better not all space battles and fighting on the ground it didn't had in any lightsaber duels like the of star wars from 1-6 Lucasfilm George Lucas was a better maker of the star wars franchise
The timing is fantastic. When Luke turns around, as he fades the music ends- it’s just as if this piece was written for this scene- but it’s such a shame it wasn’t used
The whole movie is a shame! Capital Ships running out of gas and not capable to intercept a smaller ship or target a tyny StarCraft. Luke's Green milk addiction. And how Mary Sue is more powerful than Anakin? As Darth Vader couldn't open a single mechanic door in episode IV when Luke was scaping with Han, Leia and Chewie. And this Gal lift that bunch of rocks just by blinking her eyes. What a crap!
JHL you have to be trolling. Not because you like the movie, but don't judge a movie by its story? Really?! Isn't that the main thing a movie should be focused on?

The entire Episode 8 movie was a shame. The music is just a small thing that would’ve made it somewhat better but oh my god they should have stuck with JJ for all 3 movies. Episode 7 was meh but 9 was awesome. If they had let JJ direct 8 they would’ve probably had character development in time for 9. Instead JJ had to rush it all in one episode. Disney really put him in a bad position

For real, Driver put his all into this. And while not being an incredible fan of the sequels, Kylo was a good character, thanks in no small part to Driver's acting.
Him as Ben solo was cool af, but cmon. Him as kylo is funny at times, he makes that dumbass rat face wen he’s angry and is so non believable as a villain.
I think it helps that his character was called out for what he was: an edgy, unstable Vader fanboy. In an odd way, that destroyed the notion that he was supposed to just be a Vader knockoff and helped him become a unique character.
you can't always blame an actor for coming across as "forced and cringy". you need to remember that it is up to the director/writer how the character should be portrayed, and it is up to the actor to portray the vision of the writer/director.
Yeah, the theme is from Anakin's Dark Deeds, but I've only listened in star Wars videos where the dark side won, like the end of The Old Republic first trailer, or in the Fallen order with the execution of the order 66. It's a very deep song, and strong but with some grieve, that why I didn't like how it was used here, IMO
@@lordodysseus The music sounds more Star Wars than the original music in the movie lol also the recurring theme that is brought about in the end. Idk why they didn't have more recurring Star Wars themes in the sequel trilogy, it would have created a much better sense of unity across the films.

I think one of the problems of the Sequels is that Directors don't permit John Williams more freedom and creative liberty with his music which is one of the reasons why both the Original and Prequel trilogy have such powerful and memorable pieces of art. Yet this is rarely the case in the sequels which I believe is in part because the Directors are to picky of what they want and how they want it and when they want it so fourth. In conclusion the sequels had a pretty boring soundtrack.

This is such a strong and emotional piece, the music in the movie was just totally unfitting making it seem like an “evil” moment Edit: damn y’all seem to absolutely despise me, huh? I actually feel this EP 3 track as actually being for "evil". When we first heard it, it was with Darth Vader looking at the horizon on Mustafar. Plus, that shot of Darth Malgus on the Old republic cinematics, it definetly feels like a turning-to-dark-side theme for me.

It would be much better if there were no scenes entirely. Whole movie was terrible and the acting in this climactic confrontation was no different.
Its tragic and sombre that this movie was ever made

I hated The Last Jedi, but if they had actually used this track for that scene, this part of the movie would easily have become my favorite.
A Force Awakens --> A New Hope but without the charm or exposition.
The Last Jedi --> Rian Johnson wanted to do his own sci-fi film, Disney didn't let him, so now it's a Star Wars film I guess. Something something Skywalker.
Rise of Skywalker --> Reylo: the Movie
I disliked the sequels as such (they're so poor story-wise in comparison to Extended Universe stuff that it's embarrassing), but honestly TLJ at least tried to do something different.
@@divergenttardis7378 Thanks, I'll check him out! I agree that the studios could have done way better with the Sequels. It's such a shame -- so much talent, money and time spent on a mediocre product. The main good that came out of it was my newfound appreciation for the prequels and fan films!
@@hermionestranger4964 Agreed, though I've always liked the Prequels!

It would be much better if there were no scenes entirely. Whole movie was terrible and the acting in this climactic confrontation was no different. With the original Star Wars, Ben vs Darth Vader had a gravitas to it, a meaningful and intense sacrifice. This scene looked like an immature teen Kylo Ren cussing out his unfashionable old uncle and stand-in father Luke.
Anyone here after watching the mandalorian season finale?
Yeah that song is why a lot of people cried including me
The movie should've portrayed kylo as the main lead instead of rey.... His story and struggles are much more powerful

"his story and struggles are much more powerful."
Yeah, only because he HAS them...
They need both. A hero's journey is important, and star wars has always emphasised the fine line between good and bad. Kylo Ren is essentially just modern day Darth Vader. Very much a main character but it wouldn't be interesting enough as the sole character.
70% of the comments about Driver being the best thing of the trilogy...
And y’all goddamn right !
Driver sucked dick in Force Awakens and then is redeemed in The Last Jedi :) especially the last few ending scenes including this one
He wasn't that great imo.
It's amazing how well this track fits the scene, makes me disappointed we didn't hear more prequel themes, that was one of the best parts about them imo
That just brought tears to my eyes! That was seriously amazing and beautiful!
Breaking news: Adam Driver has just been hospitalized for carrying the entire sequel trilogy
Bruh this scene actually gave me chills. If this was in the original I might've actually liked this movie. The score in the prequels is why I love them so much.. especially episode 3, so this is amazing to me.
Why? The original soundtrack is great, and it’s the same scene with the same emotions
@@bobbyjoel9293 the soundtrack here lines up more. It makes the scene seem like it has more of an impact with the climactic end to the score. It makes it more exciting, and maybe even more emotional.
In my humble opinion, this track fits horribly and the original one sounded much cooler without taking away from the scene as much.
@@christianweber7435 have you seen the prequels?
Omg Kylo killed him!
No, wait.....
It’s some kind of mirage trick! He’s alive!
No...nope he still died. By exerting himself I guess?
..........who the hell writes a scene like that
Music was a nice touch
A expert writes it like that. A jedi should always try hardest to find a solution without resorting to violence. Something that we don't see from YODA IN THE PREQUELS. Yes, this movie has a lot of flaws, but Lukes death infront of the two stars is one of the most moving death scenes
@@zanioxl3663 someone i can agree on.
iAwakenedU Luke is more of a Gray jedi
Dearth of Doohickey’s welcome to the world of RUIN JOHNSONLESS
@@zanioxl3663 I think he should have lived. His character was redeemed just to die right away.
Can’t tell you enough how much I love your postings
Thank you
If the sequels were summarized in one single quote: "calm down Kylo"
And the prequels in: “Anakin, just don’t”
Anakin stop panakin
And the originals: “Slow down Luke”
The thing is, I don’t remember the original music in this scene...
Neither do I. Most of the sequel music is that way, except for the repeated songs like Kylo Ren's theme.
It had a much angrier tone, where as this is has that low key to it
I don't remember the movies either. Complete crap.
The thing is i've never seen the movie😬
I actually kinda likes the actual music in this scene. But this is just way better
Hey, did anyone else noticed that luke force projected a younger image of himself against kylo.
Yeah, i read that it was because thats how ben remembered him.
Basically he wanted to mess with his mind or st like that
Yes. Literally everyone noticed that
@@theravenlordmasterofthevib8991 wow
