Some bands play tough guys, some bands play gangsters, some bands play devils, they are not the only ones who play characters in their musical activities. Many famous bands and musician play characters of some kind, which is not a bad thing and is necessary to create the atmosphere of the genre.

Some countries play into this more than others. Japan being on the "more" side. Baby metal certainly started out that way. I can't find the source anymore, but at least one of their band's members was quoted as saying that they weren't really that interested in metal. The band was created purely because they saw a gap in the market that could be filled by merging J-pop and metal. However since then they've all grown to quite like the metal genre, and have become proper metalheads themselves.
how can you not love Babymetal in blinking cat ears, having a drink, and Moa in crazy sunglasses and pointing to her cheek, like she's inviting a little kiss on the cheek! That whole middle part is insane!

I saw Electric Callboy on Sunday here in Boston! Last year Babymetal and Electric Callboy played shows back to back and of course I saw both shows. At the show Sunday they said the song RATATATA and the collaboration was born here in Boston after Babymetal visited them here when they were both in town at the same time.
I've loved Babymetal for years and saw them when they opened for Sabaton last year, they go so hard and these two great groups have made an absolute banger.

My first thought was that they were in a karaoke room. Legend has it that Su loves to do karaoke. There are lots of references in this video. Busting down walls. BabyMetal did that years ago. Electric Callboy just recently. Karate kicks in the meeting room. The disco balls. One of the very few genres BabyMetal had yet to venture into. EC matching (kind of) the girls choreo. EC's band reminded of BabyBones from BM's early days.
It was acknoledged by Tank Tour manager Electric Callboys that a Behind the Scenes video comes. He also acknoledged that this a 50/50 collab. So we don't hear Babymetal where there is no metal. It is only well integrated in their mix

EC has been such a breath air in the core world. So many take core soo seriously and they just have fun with it. As a millennial that great up on metal and electronic music they revived my love for it all let alone together then adding baby metal into it and man such a jam
One of my favorite parts of this is that stealthy Momo scream response. She's the second "Are you ready?" that happens. If you've seen (heard) Momobanger her scream is immediately obvious there. I get the feeling that because BabyMetal isn't known for the girls doing any screams (as they really haven't) that people don't think to attribute it to anyone but backing vocals or their collab partners. It's a really neat moment of if you listen you can hear it but if you don't know to you'll never hear it. Also, per EC's BTS video, big shout out to them for getting BabyMetal to act "candidly" in this video. That is my only complaint. Everything with BabyMetal is scripted. It's wonderful but it's stiff. That's just the westerner in me, I'm sure. It's great to see this collaboration as it introduced EC to me.
I hope they tour together. They are such a good fit and the fanbases seem to really overlap. Most importantly, it could mean we could see this performed live outside of festivals.
