  • The People's Mosquito is a UK registered charity dedicated to getting a DH.98 Mosquito flying once again in the UK www.peoplesmosquito.org.uk/ca...
Restoration of our de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito continues to make excellent progress here in the UK.
On 31 October 2020, supporters of the project had the chance to see first hand the work of Retrotec in fabricating the first Mosquito moulds to be built in the UK for more than 70 years. The COVID-secure tour allowed our supporters to meet the Retrotec team, put their questions to Guy Black and TPM Board Members and touch, feel and smell the work being done on the restoration of RL249.
This unique opportunity for supporters to engage with the project and get close to the Mosquito restoration was one of the main reasons why The People's Mosquito chose Retrotec and a UK build.
We hope to provide similar events, once COVID restrictions permit.

Thanks for the update. Please can someone do regular videos like Neville does for the "Just Jane" Lancaster restoration. They are great to watch.

Awesome channel. As a German-American, the Mossie is one of my favorite airplanes.

How many airframes will you be building? I get a sense that more than one may be made?

The Mosquito was laid up in two concrete moulds one for each side of the fuselage not as you are doing it

Hello Stan concrete moulds were developed later in WW2, particularly for production in Australia and Canada. However, wooden moulds was the way. The moulds in New Zealand are also made by wood. Many WW2 photos can be found of the wooden moulds.

While concrete were used later in the war as they found to be cheaper and quicker to produce, the original and preferred moulds were made of wood - typically mahogany. The Hornet also made using concrete moulds. Rest assured, The People's Mosquito is committed to the highest standards of authenticity in our restoration, all covered by the design and manufacturing expertise of Retrotec's UK CAA A8-21 accreditation.
