Reading Berkshire England UK- Birthplace of Catherine, Princess of Wales
Reading (/ˈrɛdɪŋ/ (About this soundlisten) RED-ing)[2] is a historic market town in Berkshire, England, in the Thames Valley at the confluence of the River Thames and Kennet. It is on the Great Western Main Line railway and the M4 motorway, 40 miles (64 km) east of Swindon, 25 miles (40 km) south of Oxford, 40 miles (64 km) west of London, 15 miles (24 km) north of Basingstoke, 13 miles (21 km) southwest of Maidenhead and 15 miles (24 km) east of Newbury.
Reading dates from the 8th century. It was an important trading and ecclesiastical centre in the Middle Ages, the site of Reading Abbey, one of the largest and richest monasteries of medieval England with strong royal connections, of which the 12th-century abbey gateway and significant ancient ruins remain. By 1525, Reading was the largest town in Berkshire, and tenth in England for taxable wealth. The town was seriously affected by the English Civil War, with a major siege and loss of trade, but played a pivotal role in the Revolution of 1688, whose only significant military action was fought on its streets. The 18th century saw the beginning of a major ironworks in the town and the growth of the brewing trade for which Reading was to become famous. The 19th century saw the coming of the Great Western Railway and the development of the town's brewing, baking and seed growing businessess, and the town grew rapidly as a manufacturing centre.
Reading is a major commercial centre, especially for information technology and insurance.[3] It is also a regional retail centre, serving a large area of the Thames Valley, and home to the University of Reading. Every year it hosts the Reading Festival, one of England's biggest music festivals. Among its sports teams are Reading Football Club and Reading Hockey Club, and over 15,000 runners annually compete in the Reading Half Marathon.

I spent my childhood in Reading. My three siblings were born there. The hospital where Catherine was born is no more.

Another Reading ight here 😂 was born in Wokingham in 51 straight to Reading for my childhood, Swindon, 61 Portsmouth 65 back to Reading in 67 for the next 14 years until emigrating to Oz in 81, i served my Fitter Turner Apprenticeship at "The Pulso" as Sigmund Pulssometer Pumps Formerly just Pulsometer) was affectionately known,, we spent leisurely lunch times at the Pond House or the Royal Albion, we went out at nights and weekends drinking and "other pursuits"😂 at places such as The Ship, The Peacock, and many others ive forgotten! Raged at the Top Rank Ballroom just about every Friday and Saturday night! We wore 3 piece taior made Burtin and John Temple suits 😂 with flared trousers and long collared flowery pattened shirts and thick ties (Shirt neck button undone) on these night outs so we could impress the gorgeous ladies we wanted to get to know better! 🤣 We'd get absolutely plastered and go to the Indian restaurant accross the road at 2 & even 3! In the morning! And make complete idiots of ourselves! Yes very fond memories! Even though im Aussie now, i still proud to regard my self as a Readingight! One of my favourite comedians of course is Ricky Gervais! I totally understand him! 😂😂 So good to see a lot of that Reading still there, im glad they kept a lot of the good stuff, wish they'd get a Cathedral though! In Australia a town her size would be a City! To me my home "Town" is a city! Go the City of Reading i love Australia and living here but i Love you Reading! Too 💖💖💖

Reading is just going to consist of large amounts of blocks of flats in the very near future. It will just become another suburb of London. Thus pricing out locals. 😢

Yes, Kate Winslet and Princess Catherine are both from Reading. Kate Winslet's dance instructor when she was young is still doing dance lessons.
