    I have to say my favorite part is the scarf. It looks very heavenly and adds to the gracefulness and delicacy of the hanfu.

    Hello Ally,
    the ruqun I received is actually quite beautiful and I am very happy! It also smells good, not like chemicals or something. So if you pay 50-70 Euro you will already receive a hanfu dress with good quality. Maybe they simply did not use the most expensive silk on the market. I hope that I am not supporting bad working conditions though, but the dress gave me a good impression actually.

I'm absolutely in love with the Da Xiu Shan and have always adored the flowing silhouette and the large sleeves that come with it. The particular design of your piece seems to be printed on. Would it be commonly acceptable to also see embroidery on Da Xiu Shan as well?

    do you have any advice or tips on how to make wearing a ruqun more comfortable?
    I have a couple hanfu in the style and I love how beautiful they are but I have to tie them so tight that it hurts after an hour or so if i don't want them slipping down.
    I always wear them with their matching outer coats.
    I want to wear them properly but at the same time I don't wear them as often as i would like because of the pain it causes to tie them so tight. but they slip down too easily if I don't tie them like that. any tips to make them more comfortable would really help a lot.

    Hello Ally,
    you are doing awesome videos!
    Has a ruqun usually a light colour? I am German and probably just more used to wear strong colours, but it is difficult to find a qixiong ruqun to my liking and with good quality. On the other hand it should not be too expensive because sadly I can not wear an unique dress like that so often. With the aoqun it is somehow much easier. I bought one on ebay and the quality is quite good. Do you have any advise for me?

    • @FiveThousandYears
      @FiveThousandYears  5 лет назад +2

      Thank you Buffy. Qixiong Ruqun are supposed to be in bold and vivid colors. The market today carries more pastel colors because they are more popular among young people. I order my hanfu directly from China on Taobao.com and they have a lot of options to choose from.

    • @BuffyLinYuna
      @BuffyLinYuna 5 лет назад +1

      @@FiveThousandYears Thank you for your answer. I think it is nearly impossible to order from Taobao if you can not understand Chinese. I am ordering my Hanfu mostly from ebay or aliexpress.

    • @BuffyLinYuna
      @BuffyLinYuna 5 лет назад

      @@FiveThousandYears I found this ruqun with stronger colours: de.dhgate.com/product/china-national-ruqun-ancient-outfit-ming/436272921.html
      I am courios if the quality will be okay. It would be even nice to support more traditional shops, not huge fabrics where the workers are having very bad working conditions. But I guess it is not easy to find such shops.

    • @FiveThousandYears
      @FiveThousandYears  5 лет назад +2

       BuffyLinYuna It's a nice design. Sadly this is a knock off version of the original one sold on Taobao so I don't know about the quality. Most (if not all) of ebay's hanfu listings are knock off products. And like you said it's very hard for people who don't understand Chinese to shop on Taobao. I'm sorry I wish I could help you more. 😔

      You solved a 20 year mystery for me tonight with this video!! I could not figure out how the "long skirt" was made. It looks like a strapless dress at first!
      I look forward to watching all of your videos. I have made a few hanfu of my own, and I cringe to see the terrible mistakes I made in construction. But I just love the colors and designs. I wish the fabrics were more available here in the states.
      Thank you so much for creating these videos!

    With the pibo, would you let the ends drag on the floor/ground, loop them back over the arms loosely, or simply let more of the pibo hang down your back to make the ends a little "shorter"? So many pibo I see are so sheer and light looking, I can't help but wonder if there is a constant fear of it getting stepped on or have it snag on something on the ground when outside...

    This is my favourite style because it looks so comfortable. I am surprised it presented breathing difficulties. I love the ethereal fairy like effect that these translucent fabrics present

    This is a very lovely and graceful style, but I can't help but wonder... what about women with larger busts (I know it's typically less of a problem with East Asian body type, but...)? This style seems to not offer any support for the chest. And what about breastfeeding? Unless this was a specific style worn only for certain occasions/by certain classes, so if they had a baby, they'd be sitting in the women's quarters wearing something else?

      Sorry Kitty I don't think I have the answer as I don't know anything about sewing. I can probably take some photos for you to see.

    I wonder if the jacket is the same kind of jacket worn by the court women of Japan during the Heian period. They wore a kind of chinese jacket as mentioned in Sei Shonagon's "Pillow Book"

      Most stores don't carry them individually anymore. It usually comes attached to the skirt as the waistband. I had mine custom made from a TB shop called 重光布业. Hope this helps.

    How do you store/hang the skirt? I don't want to drape it over a hanger because I'm worried it'll create a crease along the center but because the top of the skirt has a front and back portion, I have no idea how to hang it.

      I clip them with skirt/slack hangers and hang them to maintain the shape
