    Very pretty composition. Nostalgic and sentimental. And I like that your composition is melodic and actually musical to my ears, conjuring feeling instead of just mechanical showmanship.

      That’s the best aspect of ryche. His playing showcases his songwriting first not his skill. He doesn’t get the notoriety I believe he deserve. Truly talented musician.

    Dylan I first heard your music earlier today from a video that popped up on my feed about you winning first place at the CGF. I've had this tune stuck in my head all day. It's so captivating, the simple and yet super sweet melody really does make this the perfect song. At the risk of sounding completely cheesy, it's an instrumental that sings. This, I believe, is what will motivate me to become a good fingerstylist. SO... an early thanks :)

    I was browsing the Canadian Guitar Festival contestants and found this piece. I just have to say that this is an absolute masterpiece. It's so pure. It's simple yet complex. Only a master musician can accomplish what you've done. You definitely inspired me to try harder at being the best I can be. Thank you for giving us such amazing music.

    I come back here every once in a while to hear this magic over again and it never stops to move me. I guess Mulberry Street is where you grew up. This reminds me of my bright and happy childhood so much that it hurts. Thank you Dylan, you're fantastic.

    Hey man! I'm definitely not using the tips of three fingers for those harmonics. I'm using my the index finger. Using the fingertips (kinda like a bunch of tapped harmonics) would work well in a lot of cases, but I could see a problem if you wanted more than just 3 harmonics at the same time. I don't worry too much about the 'right' or 'wrong' way to do things...If it sounds the way you want it to sound (and not causing pain/tension), then that's great! Thanks for enjoying my music!

    A bit of both really. I get acrylic gel applied to my real nails, makes them stronger, more durable and actually produce better tone also.

  • @Bezman8
    @Bezman8 12 лет назад

    Very nice man, loving your compositions. I will definitely be buying the tabs for this when you release them. Question, when you do those slap harmonics (0:34) Are you using the tips of the three middle fingers? Most other artists I see just using the whole of their index or middle finger, but I found it easier to do it this way, but always though I was wrong. Now I see a professional do it, makes me feel much better about it.

  • @brando24567
    @brando24567 11 лет назад

    Dylan nice pice , I like it so much that I have been working on it steady. Its just fun to play, moving , just an awsome arrangement. Now if I could just play it as good as you. I'll work on it more and maybe get a lesson from you. Its challenging to fit the bass notes, thumb snare, harmonics, and riffs in . You are very gifted!

  • @Bezman8
    @Bezman8 12 лет назад

    Haha woah, I feel foolish, it's just done so fast I couldn't tell. But yeah, I shouldn't necessarily say the tips of fingers, more the flatter part underneath, that way I can hit 2 strings with 1 finger, and spreading the fingers, sound 6 harmonics (usually). Thanks for the reply!
    I look forward to your future works and website!

    This song and your other song called Smoke Signals are the two songs i really want to be able to play. Ive actually tried learning this song before but i cant seem to get the fluidity that you have (obviously). And the other problem is that i dont have my own guitar. i always have to use my brothers guitar and he hates when i put it into non-standard tunings, as a result ive never been able to practice this song how i want to. It sucks. Anyways, thank you for making this song. It totally deserves the CGF award and much more.
