Grew up by Lake Erie and the Maumee River miss seeing the ships come in now I live in Kentucky thanks for sharing and the memories, LOVE THE QUALITY of the video !
Grew up by the Soo. Spent 45 years living near Port Huron. I got so used to ships I hardly noticed them Now I live on the west side of Michigan. Sure do miss them & the horns. As a kid we lived 10 miles south of the Soo. Lying in bed at night you could still hear the horn, especially when it was foggy!!
If you look at the side of the hill you can see a current develop from the water displaced from the ship. It's running similar to her speed. Helps keep her in the middle..
It is scintillating to see a big bulk carrier of so big size crossing before you a few feet in front of you. The length, the breadth and the height are really fascinating. The tone of the hor n and the second hor n are very attractive. The gentleness with which the ship moves, is really sweet and silky. It is a shipping marvel. The naval or shipping architects, have stream lined the shape, from the conventional to a new design. The oval shape.
You're not alone. They used to allow rides, but after some incidents with riders and post-9/11, it might be difficult to accomplish, although a local radio show staff recently went up and down on a full lift.
Impressive you were a part of the creation of laker giants. M/V Belle River became the M/V Walter J McCarty Jr, M/V American Century was the M/V Columbia Star
I wonder what the crew thinks Do they think it's like cool to see that much people watching Or are they like "the fuck you guys doing", since there on it for a long time and are like used to it, idk
In this case they're probably glad to not be on the piers with so many people. Crews have for the most part been friendly, some have gone so far to great "giant hands on a stick" to wave to people.

Only because there's f-all else to do in Duluth...

She and her sisters have a special place in my heart.

I live in West Duluth, about 3 miles from the lift bridge.
I live in Moscow, about 4788 miles from the lift bridge.
When is the best month to visit Duluth for ship viewing ⁉️
This vessel is a monster of a. Ship but looking at it a lick of paint would not go amiss on her watching from northern ireland
Absolutely powerful
Impresionante más de 300 metros...
Am I the only one here that noticed someone saying “Dumbasses” in the background at 2:34 😂
Now I am not offering a bribe now, just explaining that I would really like to do it just once.
Podia por tradução ! O que adianta ver sem saber o que é.?
I would pay some real nice cash to ride that bridge up and down once.

wow😮
Why so many people watching?
That's part of the tourism draw, getting up close to see large vessels navigate into and out of port and to be greeted by the ship's crew.
@@NorthlandTrains thank you.

It is spectacular to see in person. See for your self. Grandma's 100 feet away, is a great joint.
