I bought a 70 challenger because of this movies message. I then got 3 more and restored them. Drove them for years. Made my own history. Vanishing Point cant be beat.
it only matters if you kept them until recently
Big time.
My Trans Ams would blow 'em off the road. Vettes, too. Mustangs, Cudas, Challengers? CIAO, bitches! Chargers? Pretty tuff!
@@Roadhog49 I agree 👍 💯
Good for You. You're the man
My grandfather took me to see Vanishing Point for my 10th birthday, he put his hand over my eyes when the naked girl was on the motorcycle. Thanks Grandpa
I had one of those Honda's . I never looked that good on it though
Histories like this give me life🤗
Classic case of: Good Pops, Bad Pops"?
No that's not good to stop you from appreciating a woman's shape especially at that age. That's one of the things which makes a man.
@@e.4191 When he said "Thanks, Grandpa" it sounded a little sarcastic.
50 years and still a fantastic road movie
one of the best American road movies
the best movie
It is the best automotive movie ever made.
Donald Elley absolutely 100% MOPAR
Best driving movie for myself... I saw it when it came out in the UK in the early 70s ? I love it. As for the dodge challenger... well beautiful. I even bought (still have) the vinyl "LP" of the movie. I'm thinking about putting the image of the vinyl cover on a canvas for the living room wall.
Yep.... :-) !
When the cars were cars.
This is the coolest "on the road" movie in the history of cinema 👍
There are some movies that should never have a remake! They were just that good and this is one of them!
Yes. The remake sucks. What they did to Gone in 60 Seconds was also terrible.
This is true I hated the remake they should leave this classic alone.
Along with Dirty Mary Crazy Larry I hope they never remake that film
Les Brown you just can't replace the ACTORS THE STUNTS ,THEY WERE MEANT TO BE LEFT ALONE!!! DIRTY MARY CRAZY LARRY IS THE ONLY THEY DIDN'T ATTEMPT N IM PRAYING THEY DON'T THAT S MY FAVORITE ONE
Les Brown fucken A RIGHT 👌
Man it's good to wake up to 1971..
Right up there with "Dirty Mary Crazy Larry"
but a more symbolic...
Will always have a soft spot in my heart for a white 1970 Dodge Challenger
Absolutely
YYYEEEEEESSSSSSS
YES IA GLAD I BORN TO SEE REAL MUSCLE CARS, GREAT MOVIE
I love this movie and Barry Newman was perfect in it. I saw it in July 1973. I had ridden my bicycle alone from NYC to Iowa, hitch hiked to Denver where I stayed at a fleabag YMCA with 5 other beds in the room. I saw this movie in Denver and then caught a ride from Denver to San Francisco, the same route that the hero of the movie Kowalski was supposed to take. Once I finally got to California I spent 6 weeks in what was then the best state in the country. This movie will always remind of that amazing summer.
California WAS the best back then. That's about when I saw it too. Thanks for that account of what can be done in the U.S. of A...for now.
Awesome movie saw it as a kid at the drive inn
Ive still got my old Aussie chrysler and the wife calls me Kowalski, rebuilt the old girl 20 years ago and it still pulls 12S ALL DAY. 1million ks on her and she looks beautiful. Those mopars are unbelievable. Cant replace the old girl.
Challengers rock
@doubleheadergr it's getting hard to find body and interior parts. Engines and transmissions are no problem they run forever and easy to rebuild. Blown up plenty of Ford's and Gms but never a Mopar. Very tough engines built for abuse.
saw this as a double bill at the drive in when i was a kid with Mash.. damn kids don't know what it was like to be brought up in the 70's *a grand time*
The best of times, I miss the 70's.
One of the best Drive-In movies of all time
Had a Dodge RT 440 used to run from palm springs to salt lake all out reminds me of my runs in the ole days 👍
😮 I'm SO envious....🚗💨
I was a 15 years old when this was released and it connected with something in my brain and I had this desire to someday drive on an empty desert road as fast as I possibly could. About ten years later I am driving cross-country in a 1977 Chevrolet Nova (that had no air conditioning) from Connecticut to California and somewhere in the Mojave I find this two lane road that on the map looks like it'll eventually connect up to 29 Palms, so I take it. I got all the windows down, I've got the heat turned all the way up to draw heat off of the engine, I've got my foot all the way down to the floor. I am flying through the desert. The only car I saw was a Porsche going the other way, doing the same thing as I was. Miles and miles into the drive, the paved road suddenly disappeared and turned into dirt. My car gets lost in a huge cloud of dust that fills up my interior I was smart enough not to slam on the brakes but to just ease off the accelerator. I come to a stop and get out of my car and start jumping around in joy by myself, all alone in the desert. I couldn't be happier. That was well over 40 years ago and remains one of my favorite memories.
This is what youtube was made for. Syncing up one of the best songs ever made, with one of the best movies ever made, is a damn fine way to be sure you've made a great video.

Great song....sweeeet car....
I had a Challenger in the 70's, every guy wanted to race me, a few I did, I always won!! Those were the days, great memories
I was 13 years old in 1971 when I first saw this movie, been a MOPAR guy ever since!!! By the time I was 19 I owned a 72 barracuda, 74 Charger Rally and a badass 1941 Plymouth Coupe street rod. Damn, wish I had kept all those cars!! I do have a 74 Charger Black on Black I bought a few years ago, pretty sweet car! Love those Mopars!
I had a '64 Polara 500 convertible with 426 Wedge, 4-speed...wish I had that one back.
I had a 73 Dodge Charger SE with the 400 cu engine...it was Red/Blk and was a show car. Wish I still had it.
i love way you live, sorry bad english, im finish, kimi jne
Sure you did in your wildest drug induced fantasy.
I could watch this car drive around all godamn day
hal merch me too
Friggin A
I wish to drive one all goddamn day
I love how the tone of the exhaust at the end of the video rises up and almost perfectly matches the pitch of the harmonica! :)
One of the coolest car movies ever made, most people don't realize the DJ part is Clevon Little,s first big movie roll and it is filmed in one of the most hunted places in America,GOLDFIELD HOTEL
This is honestly the best application of this song I've ever seen.
Tak jest kurwa!!! "Kowalski, the last American hero to whom speed means freedom of the soul. The question is not when's he gonna stop, but who is gonna stop him."
Not who, but what :)
"Kołolski"
Tak jest kurwa i tyle w temacie
Man ..... this bought back some memories. I was 12 in 1971, back then this was an X rated film here in the UK, I and a friend knew the ticket booth guy who was a friends dad, we looked older than we were and he let us in ... this was my first X rated movie "and" my first introduction to that free spirit living and fast cars, must have made an impression as i went on to own my own dealership of classic and muscle cars, many of them bought and shipped back from my travels in the States ... great movie .... great times.
AWESOME movie! I have it and seen it many times, never get tired of it😎👍
Yes I'm with you. I have seen the movie at first time 1983, btw I'm from Germany and was 15 at this time, at that moment, as I saw the Challenger, I was a big big fan still today. I'm not tired to watch the movie again, I have it on BluRay in my book shelf.
The Soundtrack Music is very good too!
Picked the movies for the ship in the Navy. One of my first picks. USS Hunley. 73!!

Muchísimas gracias, vi ésta película siendo niño en el año 1974, fue impresionante!!
I was 7 years old when I saw this in a drive in with my family.
One of my favorite movies as a kid, I actually saw it in the theater as a double feature movie, the other movie was Omega man or Green Beret with John Wayne. The second movie was Vanishing point. That Challenger R/T was awesome, and the Bullitt Mustang.
Magnífico!
Great movie 🎥 in Automotive Heritage and History. Awesome song 🎵🎶
The Doors 🙋👍🏁🏎
Awesome movie, Mopar lover's dream! that row of Chargers near the end...WOW!!!
The old saying. Back in the day. Was you can beat the cop's. But you can't beat the radio! Shawn
Esse filme é ótimo, ja vi varias vezes. ..Fã. ..
This was excellent, thanks. The best thing to happen to Jim, Ray and Kowalski posthumously.
Killer song, killer movie, DAMN GREAT Killer Video, Man!!! Captures the era perfectly! Gets my blood a' rollin' though these veins of mine! Love it!!!
Hell yes love this
Brother had a 71 challenger, and I had a 69 Plymouth Road Runner
!!!! Ooorah !!!!! Godspeed !!!!!
Poland, Wroclaw, early 70's. Our pack decided to go to cinema to see. "Vanishing Point".We didn't know anything about this movie expect that Delaney & Bonnie are in this. When we saw people in cinema we know that it must be good film - every man in cinema had very long hair, every girl was in mini or hot pants. And it was and still is super movie!!!
It's so cool today's Challenger came back with " The Shape " of this old muscle classic
i always loved this movie. I'll bet it boosted sales for the challanger.
It's still boosting sales to this day. Every teen that saw this movie back in 1971 always wished to be able to buy a new Challenger. Flash forward 40+ years and the dreams came true. I've a got a 2020 in my garage.
I love Vanishing point it change my life
superdoudou: Same here. It pretty much made me a gearhead and a Mopar fan for life.
What exactly change it in your life? So what conclusions have you drawn and what have you changed as a result?
Great movie, great song!!! l learned about Vanishing Point several months before its release from a neighbors relative who seen it filmed.
Шикарный фильм, отличная музыка! Спасибо за видео!
Точно
Um dos melhores filmes que já vi.
Recomendo muito bom.antigo mas excelente.
That was a killer movie. Seen it when I was 7 at the drive in.
saw this movie when it came out had just bought a new 71 challenger rt while in the navy i thought i was barney badass the meanest ride on the road!
At least he used his turn signal to change lanes:-) one of my all-time favorite movies!
Ha, yep that bit always amused me too.
Musta been the ex-cop in him?
I still use them cruising in my 96 stang
Dont also forget '2 lane blacktop', another great period piece/same year movie.
2 classics in 1, perfect!
what a magnificent time to remember!
Kowalski is the Man!
"Kołolski"
Petrocelli. Pstrocelli.
I absolutely adore that car. Cult film and seminal, I am proud to own.
The greatest band as the backdrop to one of the greatest road movies.
..and one the best movie experiences ever.
Love it.
Let's Roll Baby Roll! … Let it Roll all night long...
, Roadhouse Blues is from the doors album Morrison Hotel. The harmonica is credited to G puglisi. It is really none other than John Sebastian of The Loving Spoonful. He was here in Dallas a couple of months ago and I talked him into signing his autograph as G puglisi. He accepted a fringed leather stash bag that I made to replace the one that he wore at Woodstock
That's a cool sidenote, man. John Sebastian is the "Welcome Back Kotter" theme singer, yeah?
Perfect movie, nice music.. best enjoyed separately !!!
amazing song n video..thx
I bought a used T/A about a month after seeing this film
Congratulations ! I'm a bit jealous, but also very happy for you. I love that Vanishing Point, and the Dodge Challenger were a portrait in time, nothing can replace what once was.
What is the name of the movie?

A common case of addiction
A story about a young man and his Dodge out for a weekend adventure. Good old fashioned entertainment for the whole family
It’s a car delivery for a guy that flew to San Francisco, it was a bet at the beginning of the movie if he could make it from Denver to San Francisco in set time
That was cool. Thanks for the video.
Seems to be a very intelligent movie, with a clear message and all that. Really....
Any road trip video that starts with a great old Doors tune is #1 in my book.
The Challenger's amazing!
Just love this film
One of the very best!
Love the sound of them old Mopars
I love how the song fits ti the video.
Thanks for the music and the video which are a kind of road trip on its own ❤️👍
Very nicely done. Thank you
That point when you see nothing but the taillights getting farther and farther out of sight. Epic
Up there with the VERY BEST
A great drive- in movie !!! Oh yeah - The Doors !!
Great movie!!! I have a DVD and soundtrack too..., good times! God bless you all!!!
Back when we thought it would never end...
Saw this as a first run movie in 1971, Paramount theater Denver. No social media no spoilers so the ending was a complete suprise, audience was dumbfounded walked out of the theater like zombies
Much like what happened to those who watched Easy Rider for the first time, two years before Vanishing Point hit the silver screen.
Great times, great movies, both discussing - On The Road - the meaning of freedom, like they were some kind of heirs of Kerouac's novel, wich I belive, they are.
Peace from Brazil. ✌
@@felipedourado5721 In 1969 I was 19 and saw Easy Rider as a first run movie in a theater. Your right, audience was blown away, no spoilers. Filed out in silence. Made me want to go run over a duck hunter.
I loved this video! Great work.thanks
First time I ever seen that movie I was 16 years old and I'm still watching it I'm 53 now one awesome movie I've been a Mopar man ever since

For me in West Australia This & Mad Max 1
are just the Best
agree
love this movie
Movie was one big Dodge Challenger commercial. One reason I switched from Ford to Mopar, finally got me a '71 Challenger in 1979. I liked the the rattlesnake preacher in the desert with Delany, Bonnie & Friends playing the music. Gonna have to watch it again!
also when MAN where MAN,love the good old days, whish we had a time machine
The 440 magnum was a better street engine than the Hemi. The Hemi always fouled the spark plugs out. I am not saying the Hemi wasn't King Kong. But the 440 was a great engine. My best friend's brother had a 1970 Cuda'. 440 six pack. Dark green, Black vinyl top, N-50's on aluminum slotted mags. Pistol grip shifter with 3.55 gears out back. Also had dual exhausts with glass pack's. Throw you back in the seat and keep you there for the quarter mile. Man, I miss those days! Shawn
You and me both Shawn. And most my street Ponchos had 3.55s. Perfect street/strip gear for cars that had to be daily drivers. (No ODS them days).
@@shawnbeck2303 3.91s were a good gear for something light, and in a small block car, like a warmed over 340 in a 68 dart. But, as we all know, the great equalizer in a street race, was driver ability to control traction out-of the hole. 3.91s were on that ragged edge. I never had a set, but bet they would be fun. And when Sunoco 260 (102 octane, out-ta the ground) was 60 cents a gallon, who cared about mileage? And 2.73s usually were one leggers. (yuk) Only good for Bonneville salt flats.
Hey Shawn, what's happened with your replies? Seems they've disappeared. :I
@Shawn Beck Hey man, I love Muscle Cars but I live in Spain, here the gas it´s so expensive, all taxes. The only classic Muscle Cars you can have here (whitout ruin yourself) are Small-Block powered like 289-302 Ford, 327 -350 GM or 318-340 Mopar, always ponys like Mustang, Camaro or Challenger. Anyway I have a ´72 Riviera 455 with 400hp and I´m so happy, It barely eat if you compare with another Big-Block, Buick engines are really fantastic. The 1968 Charger it´s one of my dream cars, I had a 1966 383 few years ago but I want the 1968 model. If I buy a 426 HEMI or a 440 Six-Pack I will ruin myself, I know the 440 engine ´cause I had a 1971 RoadRunner Six-Pack and didn´t used it for the gas problem. So, if I buy a 1968 Charger, the best option for me will buy one with 318 engine, right???
I had to settle for a 6.2L 797 HP white challenger Hellcat. Not quite the same nostalgia but it can turn and stop also.
Great movie and video, Watched again and wishing you a great weekend too.
Superb film & the music
Man, that is such a graceful drift at :48.
I remember my mom taking me to see this when I was 6 years old. Was a car guy ever since.
What I Love Most. . . . We Travel A LOT. . . . Sooo Kewl To See Places
. . . we have seen!!!
Nicely done. A good combination.
I LOVE that they crashed a 1969 Chevy Camaro, (thinly vailed stand-in) instead of the Challenger in the final scene. Even then they knew not to crash a really great car.
Really? Never heard about that.
And they did not beat up all of other Challengers in that movie?
@@paulr3237 They didnt run one into a bull dozer. hahaha
@@cmscms123456 But the cars they did use in the movie the suspensions, under carriage and probably the frames were bent, battered and twisted beyond repair. Thus ending most of the cars seen in the movie usefulness. So they have might as well crashed it into a bulldozer.
