Thank you for the recommendations! A lot of these I haven’t even heard of or heard of but never read. These look like amazing stories
Man I really love your lists!!! I'm reading Alan Moore swamp thing vol. 1 right now. The art work is so fucking good!!!!
The run from Black Panther 1998, that is so good. It sucks that it ended back then. Nothing to my feeling comes close to that. Great content Sticky!
The long Halloween is one of the best Batman stories ever written hands down
I love hearing the summary of each. How interesting. There are several even I could read them. Sticky, you always do a great job with no notes. Great video.
I appreciate this. There are quite a few recommendations that I want to check out now. What a great video idea.
Great video! I’ve read some of these on the list, but there’s a bunch of recs that I’ll have to check out. Thanks!
Very Good video. Well thought out Good job. Having said of that I would never read most of the things you recommended. Some of that stuff seems twisted. I tried reading some of that but then said no no no no. And some of that stuff that I did read all the way through I regretted very much. Comics should be fun not disturbing. At least in Jess world. I do like the Hawkeye series and the Miller run on Daredevil. But again a very nice video. Good summaries without spoilers. Thanks. Jess
Some great picks. Watchmen and Long Halloween are definitely on my list.
I would add Kingdom Come. The Alex Ross art is glorious.
Loved your list. I would have added Age of Apocalypse and Tynion's Justice League Dark run.
Did anyone see what Sticky goose does for a living?
Truancy Officer... 'cos he's taking all us dummies back to SCHOOL!! 😉
dentist
With those fingers, it's a blessing he's not a proctologist.
Definitely adding some stuff to the wish list based on this. I co.pletely agree with the swamp rhing, batman, v for vendetta, and daredevil picks, so i have no doubt the rest are great as well.
Redeemed yourself with a Brian K Vaughan book at the end. Was worried 😂 you even get a pass for having a Tom King book on the list
Read all of the valiant titles from 1991-1993 when Jim Shooter was running the place. Taken as a whole it's a f*cking masterpiece.
Keep up these video's! I love them and am still reading a few of your last recommendations. I have read most of the stuff on this list but will check out ice cream man, monsters and (I never thought I would say this!) moon knight! I would recommend the early hellblazer runs with Jaime Delano and Garth Ennis.
Great list, I'm currently reading the entire run of Sandman. So good.
How dare you talk about comic books!!! You can't beat a lot of those 80s stories! Love how much resepect you have for Alan Moore. Great video, even if it doesn't get the views in comparison.
Great list. Have most. Video rocks
Did you also dream about drawing or writing your own comic book or are you strictly a reader or collector only? like did you have some phase of learning to draw random characters off any comic book you used to follow and stuff?
Great stuff! Added to my list, thanks for sharing!
Just one more reason I subscribed, you actually get to the gist of why people should collect comics, not a number on a slab. Thanks for always keeping the comic community advised on some true gems to actually read I'll be looking for a lot of your recommendations . Thanks
I asked Sticky why he didn’t buy his lovely wife a watch. Know what he replied, with a contorted face!? “She has a clock on the stove!” Omg… Boom, roasted? 🏃🏼♂️❤️💨
Solid list. Indy and DC heavy which seems to be a trend with a lot of list like this.
Id encourage you to check out Chew (Image), House of M (Marvel), Messiah Complex (Marvel).
I have heard of Chew but don’t know anything about it. Appreciate the recommendation.
that's a good list you got there...
I would like to thank gem mint without him none of this would be possible
@@Stickygoose Geez, get a room!
This is a great list i personally would of added uncanny x force by Rimender. He also has another great ongoing now called Sacrificers you might like it.
Spider-Man Blue.. another Jeph Loeb Tim Sale masterpiece. Superman for All Seasons… also so good. Pretty much everything they did together was tremendous. RIP Tim Sale.
Respect for the Grant Morrison, they are my absolute all time favourite writer.
Your chair gives the illusion you have a giant neck. It reminds of the evil entity Rasalom, from the movie 'The Keep.'
Great reads, Give 30 days pf Night a shot. As far a s single issues The Batman's Killing Joke and The Pro by Garth Ennis are solid one shots
"The Jungle Line" Superman & Swamp Thing... you'll love it.
Great video 🔥
Nice list. Check out:
The Drowned by the DiBartolos
Check out:
Strange Girl by Rick Remender
Y, the last man is also a must read
Sleeper by Ed Brubaker is also good noir
Sean Murphy’s White Knight Trilogy is my favorite all time Batman Story and underrated.
Need to read that
Great List!--only "Alias and Moonknight by J.Lemire are the ones I didn't get to read.
74 views and no comments? I like the choices, I've read about 75% of them, will dig out the rest eventually!
And this exactly why I don’t make these videos. If it’s not about money and investing no one cares
@@StickygooseThese are your best videos. Comic shop visit videos as well, those are always fun to see 😂
@@Stickygoose Yes, or roasting people, 🙃 My very little channel is stuck on 72 subs now, but I just show my collections covers for a bit of fun!
@@Stickygoose Thanks for subbing, much appreciated!
came to see if Mister Miracle would be here.
check out Joe the Barbarian by Grant Morrison.
Love this video and content as always. Looking for more good stories to get trade paperbacks in and binge. Wish your content like this got the attention its deserves!
Great video, so many comic runs I’d like to read, but which is the best. You did say to almost every series it was the best. So which is it? Invincible for me from your list.
It’s like picking your favorite child
@@Stickygoose I know but you still need to pick one….
Watchmen
@@Stickygoose nice choice. I’ve only seen the film so will add to my list of series to buy. See wasn’t that difficult choosing your favourite child.
@@Stickygoose Ending of Watchmen is weak. Fans like Rorschach and didn't want to him to die. Plus the whole "I did it 35 minutes ago" villain plot.
We have very similar tastes as I've prob read 70-80% of those. I need to pick up Monsters for sure. You should check out some old Hellblazer (Delano and Ennis runs) and just for mind-blowing eye candy, anything Geof Darrow (Hard Boiled, Shaolin Cowboy). Don't sleep on manga either. I've thoroughly enjoyed Akira, Sanctuary, Nausicaa, etc.
Where is Batman Year One on your list??? I know you own it. You have it in your bubble bath video...
More content like this would be great!
From Hell was also a good movie with Bilbo if I recall correctly.
A good amount are the usual suspects from published lists since the 2000's, but you also had some newer ones sprinkled in and ones that were unique to you so that's good.
And I'm not trying to be negative with that comment, but if I understand your timeline of getting into comics you are in a certain phase still as well. I don't know what to call it, but it's basically "oh, I only read adult/mature stuff" and it has to tackle some certain level of subject matter for it to be worth reading. And I totally do not try to say that in a negative way either, lol. It just seems to be a common thing/phase.
I also say it because of how you've--granted briefly--talked about some superhero stories that were not impressive enough because of how typical or silly they were (not sure 100% what you meant but have an idea).
So ultimately where am I going with this? Just am curious to see how your views on comics evolve/change in the years to come. Still enjoying the channel and content; keep it up.
I will never be a real comic collector or reader
@@Stickygoose No, I promise you that is not what I was saying. It's just something that I've noticed a lot.
Like, people who do not read comics realize "oh, you can tell any story in this medium" and naturally gravitate towards what they consider now passes as "art" to the non-comic reader and thus is elevated type of thing.
So I'm curious to see if and how your tastes might change. Simple curiosity. I promise that there's no judgment.
@@Stickygoose Maybe a better example is if like someone gets into comics and just reads Batman at first. Yea, no surprise there as he is insanely popular, has amazing cartoons and films, toys, and many critically acclaimed comic book stories are Batman ones. But I know there is more than just Batman in the world of comics so I'd then be curious to see how their tastes further develop.
Does that help what I'm saying to come across less judgy?
Your comment was sincere and nonjudgmental. You came across fine. I agree with you. That is what makes things interesting, different phases, takes, preferences, etc… All good.
Thanks for the recommendations, ice cream man looks pricey but like the sound of
I totally popped for the beanie babies in the background
Been trying to think on my own list as I haven't updated such a thing in a while. But I suppose here is my list of favorite comics books of all time that come to mind:
1) Fables (Bill Willingham, Mark Buckingham, Steve Leihola, et al)
2) The Unwritten (Mike Carey, Peter Gross, et al)
3) A Flight of Angels (Rebecca Guay, Holly Black, Louise, Hawes, Todd Mitchell, Alisa Kwitney, Bill Willingham)
The rest being in no true order:
- Checkmate (Greg Rucka, Jesus Saiz, et al)
- War of Kings (Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning, Paul Pelletier, et al)
- Day of Vengeance (Bill Willingham, Justiano, et al)
- Daredevil (Brian Michael Bendis, Ed Brubaker, Mark Waid, Joe Quesada, Alex Maleev, Michael Lark, Chris Samnee, et al)
- Identity Crisis (Brad Meltzer, Rags Morales, et al)
- Superman: Red Son (Mark Millar, Dave Johnson, Killian Plunkett, et al)
- The Sinestro Corps War (Geoff Johns, Dave Gibbons, Peter Tomasi, Ron Marz, Alan Burnett, Ethan Van Sciver, Ivan Reis, Patrick Gleason, et al)
- JLA: Crisis of Conscience (Geoff Johns, Allan Heinberg, et al)
- Justice Society of America: Thy Kingdom Come (Geoff Johns, Alex Ross, Dale Eaglesham, et al)
- Black Science (Rick Remender, Matteo Scalera, Dean White, et al)
- Thor: God of Thunder (Jason Aaron, Esad Ribic, et al)
- Aquaman: Death of A King (Geoff Johns, Paul Pelletier, Sean Parsons, Rod Reis, Dezi Sienty)
- Batman: The Long Halloween (Jeph Loeb, Tim Sale)
- JLA: Black Baptism (Ruben Diaz, Sean Smith, Jesus Saiz, Keith Champagne, Bill Oakley, Greg Wright)
- Spider-Man: Blue (Jeph Loeb, Tim Sale)
- Hawkman (Geoff Johns, James Robinson, Michael Bair, Rags Morales, Timothy Truman, et al)
I include the Creative Teams largely for the ones that are not arc/story title specific. So like Daredevil I mean the Marvel Knights run beginning with Bendis' run and before Andy Diggle took over with that "Shadowland" nonsense. Another example is Hawkman where I mean the Johns run that I believe was the first 25 issues of said title.
I still want to re-read some stuff like East of West & American Jesus and want to finish other stuff like Lucifer.
Oh, but Starman #0 from James Robinson may be the best single issue I've ever read. He is like the father of the modern comic book writing style. Too bad I did not love the entire Starman run. But it started off very strong.
But where's your AF15 slab? Bunk list!
Me positivity!!
7 to eternity by Rick reminder
What about Keven’s last hunt that story is epic it’s one of my favs😮
Kevin’s last hunt
Meant kraven s last hunt typo
@@Stickygoose are talking about Kevin from Up?
@@Stickygoose Kevin's Last Hunt is Amazing !!! ( I Love the Minions ) 👍😆
Couldn’t get past the elementary art and horrid coloring in Watchman. That also goes for that Hawkeye book… couldn’t even finish that…the art was terrible. If that Moon Knight run is what they based that terrible 😞incomprehensible Disney plus series on…I’ll pass. I’m just a “glass is half empty” kinda guy.
It’s seems strange that the guy who wrote Maus was the same guy who created Garbage Pail Kids.
Bro really needs to read more non big 2 books
Comics gate bro?
@@Stickygoose huh? All but one was either marvel or dc
Walking dead
Ice cream man
Invincible

good video, but down voted due to no drama >.>
Can’t respect any of your opinions on comics books since you just learned about them in 2019 🤣 🤣 🤣
I wouldn’t listen to me either honestly
