Playing around with the new Voice to Midi Feature in Synthesizer V 1.11.0 BETA

  • Just a quick video to show how the voice to midi feature works. The Synthesizer V 1.11.0 beta is available now, so download it and give it a spin yourself! It's something that can greatly reduce the time for making covers. For originals, it depends on your workflow--I generally create melodies directly in Synthesizer V, so it wouldn't really help me there.
Here, I'm just giving an example of how you might do a cover. I extracted the isolated vocal track using one of those AI websites and then used the new voice to midi feature on that track. The song is "Anytime, Anywhere," the end theme for the anime Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.
For the most part, it works very, very well. There are spots where you're going to need to fix notes, but that's expected.

Summary: you need to install the 1.11 Beta but be warned it will overwrite your existing Synth V version. Import a vocal audio stem then Right Click on the file as shown at 04:58 in this video, and select "Extract Notes from Audio" - that's it!

I'm this close to actually buying Synth V... the only problem is the cost. As a student, I don't have an easy $80 to spend on a piece of software. I have some other things to take care of and I wish they would offer a 30% discount or something for students (which wouldn't make sense for them at all, haha, because when does a student need this software for school), but yeah.
I think this feature could also be used when you're recording demos with your voice and you think to yourself, "Wait, this sounds stupid, but I'm not going to record it again, so let's just throw the voice into Synth V for a demo I can show people".

There are a couple of options. One, use the free Synthesizer V Studio Basic for now. You don't have access to the advance features, but just for creating vocals, it's great. And most of the voicebanks have free lite versions as well.
Two, you might want to try a Japanese site to buy Synth V. Something like dlsite. Many times they have coupons, and if you are in America, the Japanese Yen to U.S. Dollar exchange rate is so ridiculous right now, you can save a lot of money. I pre-ordered GUMI for Synth V for around $65 including tax because of the exchange rate.

@@AnomieTrain You're right, I completely forgot about the free version and it never came to my mind to use, since from my experience at least most other "free versions" are heavily limited. I'll give it a try tomorrow.
When I will buy it however, I'll do it through DLsite. I have someone that can speak Japanese so I'm sure they'll help me out haha
I live in Germany so exchange rates are about 1000Y = 7€

I'm also a student and had ample cash to spend on Synth V, and I bought it for $160. Synth V is one of the cheaper plugins I have purchased.

There is actually open-source AI vocal or instrument extraction tools. So, if you have the compute power, usually some mid-end GPU, you should be good to go without paying third party website.

I have the update but I can't find the plugin . I don't have the option when I right click over the isolated vocal track . Does this not work with Reaper ? Looks like a cool plugin to use

    • @AnomieTrain
      @AnomieTrain  10 месяцев назад +3

You're talking about using the ARA plugin within the DAW (Reaper 6+), right? They have a document on that:
      dreamtonics.com/synthv/help-ara-en
I have Studio One v5, and the ARA plugin is supposed to work with that, but I'm getting the message "Failed to start the plugin in ARA mode".
It's still in beta, so that may the issue. I have no problems using the new features in the standalone Synthesizer V Studio Pro beta version 1.11

No, but be aware that if you install the beta, it will write over your existing Synthesizer Pro version. Once they release the final version, you can just update it to the final version as normal through the program itself. So far, I haven't had any issues running the beta 2 version. Downloads are at:
