I have to admit that I love the idea that people might be feeling nostalgic for the experience of visiting a video rental store. Like a trip to the theater, there was a communal aspect of a trip to the rental that cannot be matched by anything currently on offer from any of the major streaming services. Sure this is an art installation, but it was still nice to see. Subscribed.
Much respect to everyone who watched the video and commented below, let me know if you would like to see more retro movie content and reviews like this. I dig 80s movies as much as I dig 80s toys. 💯👊
This is exactly how I remember my Rental shop as a yout in the 80s...it was split into 3 sections via those beaded doors ! I used to smash out Ultraman pretty much everytime I went 😅 Awesome upload Slime House TV 📺
Great video! And as an 80s kid who loved VHS stores, it's amazing to see places like this popping up. Hope to visit one day! Oh, and if I had to recommend 3 movies featured in this video shop, it'd be Bloodsport, Robocop, & Return of the Living Dead part 2. Amazing movies that I still rewatch over & over
I started collecting VHS again a few years ago and still watch them, wish I had the space to display them but it's plastic totes for now heh. Yeah be a bit like lending out museum pieces to rent VHS tapes now. Real treat to see the box art from other regions. 🤘
Love The Shop! I Subscribed to their channel yesterday! I like your Friday the 13th hoodie, Part 8’s my favorite! I have a very similar hoodie but think the Image is different😀👍
My days that store takes me back to the old days haha even the atmosphere board game lol I love the mini cinema room at the back it would make a quality wee movie night out if they were to open it up to the public at some point
This brings back memories. I worked in a video shop when I first left school.just looked in my loft and found a couple of time code videos from when I worked there.
@@slimehousetv My friend was showing me a book on horror vhs about 10 years ago & it was mentioned in it. I didnt even know it was the first rental store.
What a clever idea, it looks like a lot of fun As a kid, I really enjoyed taking trips to Blockbuster to rent the latest movies and ordering pizza for movie nights with my mom. I forget where I saw it. Somewhere in the US, there is still a Blockbuster rental store open that is privately owned.
I literally got thousands of vhs most of them are horror. People usually go ape shit when they see the collection. One day I'll put my awesome collection on the tube. My 1980's big box horror will definitely steal the show.
Love the Vid, went to the place back in October for a poster signing. If I could rent anything from there it would have to have been The Thing, my favourite horror movie (and possible future cosplay but shhh secret).
Once again a video that was absolutely epic my triple will would have been as follows Spacehunter : adventures into the forbidden zone Robot Jox Class of 1999 Bring it one classic movies 🤙
My local store used to get their windows custom painted with the new movie covers.it was so busy, you never really got a new release until someone returned it and the shop rang you.
Before I first moved here to Minnesota from Illinois, I had in my bedroom 6 46" shelves filled end to end with movies and I had a number of the big box ex rental movies in my collection. Here on Minnesota in Robbinsdale, MN there is a rental store called video universe that is still open. At video universe, they have beta, VHS, laser disc, DVD, blu-ray and other formats at least as of a couple of years ago when I was in there for all the different formats.
Awesome vid Theo i was in there before you turned up that day. I had just dropped off some big box tapes for rob and chris, breakdance 1 and 2, Run Dmc tougher than leather and Krush Groove. When you where on about the 3 films i fuckin knew you would say Invasion usa. Lol its one of my favourites aswell. Keep up the good work my good man and have a mint new year Adam
I knew you was gonna mention The blob and invasion USA , I remember we’ve had conversations about those to movies in the past, I liked the mock up video of die hard starring frank Sinatra, we all know the story behind that one
The most rented horror film by me as a kid in the 80's was NightBreed (Great film), but i also have huge memories and love for Robocop. My cheesey movie i rented a lot was Teen Agent (AKA If looks could kill). Any reason why small box VHS are less popular?, to me its the artwork so it makes marginal difference.
Oh man, if I ever make it to the UK 🇬🇧 I'd definitely buy you a pint or 2 and a bacon butty or fish and chips and talk hours on old toys and movies!!!!!

Would definitely be interested in a glimpse of your VHS collection tbh
@@MetalSamantha Ill have to arrange somethin! 💯
@@slimehousetv I’m fascinated by VHS collections. The picture may not be that good but they make me weirdly calm and happy

Cool video & great store. I worked in the first ever U.K. video rental store in Guildford in the 80's. Good times.
Ahh no way!

Ahh glad it sparked a memory yo!
Great channel and great vid Theo, cheers 👍 are you related to Kyren Wilson, the snooker player?

Great to see more vhs shops poppin up in the uk... even if they ain't renting! Nice vid👊✌️
14:07 Richard Lynch played such a good Villian. His facial scars help, but he had such a mean prick look.
Yeah he is the craziest dude ever in that movie haha
'They make it so easy don't they' lmao
Enjoyed that
Nothing to see though
Great to meet you all pal! Awesome video. You’re all welcome back anytime
Already missing it dude!! 📼🙌

Damn Would have loved to have seen them!
I can remember it was mostly arnie and sly.they were the big hitters, but I do remember die hard and child's play on the windows, that was fucking cool.
Rad!

I might have rented Vamp, Cyborg, and a wrestling video...did they have Tough Guys with Kirk Douglas, I would have rented that too, or Blind Fury...
Greaaaat choices!

So is this a museum? Or do you buy the videos? Or is it in his house?!
Basically a dope museum, at an actual shop location, not a house, although living there would be pretty awesome 😅
@@slimehousetv that’s amazing!! Remember seeing so many of those on the shelf at blockbusters but was too young to hire them out lol
