The thing I really liked about this movie is that it’s one of the few video game movies I’ve seen that really feels like a love letter to the source material. The movie feels like an extension of the game instead of trying to go in some totally different direction that feels antithetical to the game because it would “work better that way as a movie”. The plot wasn’t super deep or anything, but I don’t think it needed to be because it still gave me the feeling of when I was a kid and stepped into the Mushroom Kingdom for the first time. With that being said, I would love to see a sequel that leans into a little more of an involved plot akin to something like Super Mario RPG. This movie is the first time I’ve been to a movie theater in 5 years and it was definitely worth it!
Absolutely! I agree with everything you said, and especially that I would love a sequel that feels like one of the RPGs. Especially since this movie established the world already so now a future sequel can capitalize on it.
I've watched the movie the day and i would really loved if the movie had some actually story or characters developments, but it was still fun spot all the reference with my friends, we just pointed the finger at the screen for the entire movie
I’m hoping maybe a sequel will expand on the universe a bit, and maybe this movie was just setting the ground work. But as you say, I still thought this movie was a lot of fun and spotting all the references was very fun to do.
I saw it twice and loved it. Not a fan of a Mario Movie on principle, and the thirst for an “NCU” weirds me out. But this movie did a lot to soften me. It was incredibly wholesome. By the end, I wanted more, which was telling.
Another great video, my friend. I have seen the movie twice and I abosulety love it. I just hope it's not a one time movie as I would love to see Nintendo make more Movies especially if they are half as good as this movie.
Hey, I just found your channel and wanted to say you're doing great. I haven't had the chance to see the Mario movie, but I suppose I'll have to watch it some time. Keep up the work, we need more creators like yourself.
Thank you so much, I am working hard on many new videos! I’m sure it will come out for streaming services with added footage, so I would wait until then!
I enjoyed it and apart from a little too much shit from Peach toward Mario on their first meeting and too much obsession from Bowser it’s pretty faithful
I understand what you mean, I think they did Bowser well even if he came off as more obsessive than usual. I especially loved how angry and menacing he was at the ending, which we haven’t really seen in the mainline games in a while. He felt truly threatening.
I saw it in another language, and had a MUCH better time than I did watching it in English.. which is easily the WORST version available. Its borderline unwatchable.. and now Nintendo will bleed money with sequels for NO reason, when they could have hired non-famous talented voice actors. Regarding characterization, Peach is unrecognizable and awful no matter the language. The story has MANY problems and feels rushed and bland. I'm not so sure about endorsing this blindly.. I do want a Metroid and Zelda movie. Also, there's already a torrent with decent quality available! We'll see how much it affects it.. specially when players can save money on the upcoming $70 Zelda game.
Fortunately when a friend of mine and I saw it in theaters last week the theater we went to was not jam-packed so we didn't have to deal with very much noise in the theater so that was great. It was a really fun time. I'm not saying it's the greatest film ever made some people are saying that there's no way it is but I thought it was a lot of fun to watch. We'll probably do a review of it on my channel pretty soon but for now we just got a one minute short briefly talking about it without spoilers. The other thing is rotten tomatoes is just a bad sight in general. I mean 59% is still above 50% that's still not actually bad so why does that even count as a rotten rating anyways? It doesn't make any sense. Not to mention even going on about how bad rotten tomatoes is and it is it's a really bad review score site Like it's always has been, a lot of the time the critical score doesn't really match what the reviews actually say. If you actually look at it in more detail you'll see that a lot of movies that have like maybe like a 6.5 out of 10 will somehow have like a 41%. 6.5 out of 10 is 65%. How the hell does that equal 41%? It just goes to show how flawed the site is. Another example is if a critic gives a movie an A and then another critic gives it a c and then another crit gives it an f, it's considered rotten because a sea which is a mostly positive thing as it's in the late '70s which by the way the late '70s and percentage is certified fresh which shows how inconsistent this site truly is, but a sea is considered negative so therefore with an A and a c and an f it would be a rotten rating of 33% as opposed to it being a fresh rating of 66%. It's a terrible website. Another thing is I've noticed that a lot of critics nowadays seem to be looking for like certain messages in a film. Thanks to a video by Moon I have learned that the critics that get to report on rotten tomatoes have changed over the past 4 years or so and since then critical score and audience score has been dramatically split apart from each other more than ever before and on a very consistent basis. There have always been some films that the audience and critical reception were opposites on but it happens almost all the time like the vast majority of the time nowadays since that change. And the sad truth is it's because a lot of the newer critics are looking for certain messages like either LGBTQ messages or feminism pushing and I don't think there's anything wrong with something that's very good for feminism representation, it's just that the way that Hollywood does it is insulting instead of something of beauty. For example Mulan 2020 they made her a Mary Sue. Who wants somebody who's perfect? Mulan 1999 I love that film it's actually my favorite film from the Disney Renaissance and the reason why is because I love that she grows as a character she starts off struggling The men in the military training with her don't like her then she grows the character and gets stronger and everybody likes her and she does amazingly and saves China it's beautiful. That's how feminism should be done but unfortunately Hollywood doesn't seem to get the memo on that. They're literally are critics who are saying that this is offensive. There are critics saying the movie is offensive which is just ridiculous. What the hell is so offensive about the Super Mario Bros movie? some are making it clear it's offensive because princess peach isn't the hero. It's not called Super princess peach. Maybe it'll be a movie based off of that game at some point who knows but it's called the Super Mario Bros movie that's what it's all about. Mario and Luigi should be the heroes

I agree wholly, I still don’t know if I want to see a Smash Bros movie or something but I would like to see more.

Thank you for the kind words, and I agree. I am curious to see what they would do with a Zelda movie.
@The Flipside All good man. I just hope of they make one it's actually good as I'd hate to see them butcher a Zelda movie.
Almost 60% on Rotten Tomatoes
that’s actually good
Haha, arguably yes I suppose
Great video as always man love the content, i just saw the movie and I couldn’t agree more with what u said keep up the good work!
Thank you so much! I appreciate it!
Great review for a great movie!
Thank you!

The voice acting made me not want to
The movie was probably the best one I have seen in a while. But the brain dead movie critics think it is garbage. Wow the worst job in the world.
I enjoyed it and apart from a little too much shit from Peach toward Mario on their first meeting and too much obsession from Bowser it’s pretty faithful
Bowser is in love with peach in super Mario odyssey

I seen it twice I have popcorn I like it
Haha, the simple things make it worth it!
prime example of don’t listen to critics
Insulting people in your title. 👉 “Don't recommend channel”
