    Alchemist is so brilliant. I rarely hear a producer embrace not being a “musician” but having a great ear for music. I’ve noticed when musicians play, they’re almost not present, but locked into their rhythms. It’s very impressive when a musician can create from skill and still be present enough to create something new or spontaneous

    Malcolm X had so much honor. And they villianized him for something that finally people are realizing is wrong. Malcolm X stood up for black women BEFORE the me too movement. Visionaries always see the future and stand for what is right even if they’re alone. And that is why I’ll never forget him❤️. That’s why they had to take him down, too much integrity.

    1:05:58 Alchemist brought up such a good point. Some of the craziest music I've heard, even from friends came from people that don't know a lick about music theory. They're not bogged down by any structure so to me their process is creatively pure. I started making music in highschool and I was a music student in college for a little while. And it helped me understand what I was doing. But I feel it also hurt my process cause I felt confined to the limitations of theory and chord structure. I started in I lost my creativity. Now I think it depends on the person. For somebody like Jacob Collier, it probably didn't matter for him. But everyone has a different creative process and I think for people like me, having an ear and knowing enough to make things sound good but allowing myself the freedom to not be caught up in the "traditional" structure works best for me

    This is the type of convos we want to see with rappers. Niggas be talking about surface level shit. Alot of generic conversation. Its doper to hear them speak technically about making rap. And giving funny stories like the Em story Boogie told

    Rory be bringing the energy on the podcast every episode, damn near caring it, lol, but Mal though the too cool for school thing is cool at times, no pun intended, lol, Mal gotta be a more free with his personality and turn up his energy like he did with Joe Budden on the JBP to keep the podcast balanced between the both of them if they intend to do it long term

      I think Mal actually lacks a lot of depth. And I wasn’t one of those Mal brought nothing to the pod people but now that the spotlight is really on just them two his weaknesses shows.
      He just don’t have much insight or shit ti say almost like he needs to experience more life?? Idk but every opinion is bland even the jokes falling short. He’s great in a big 3 but as a real second co-host I have my doubts

    • @scarlet8078
      @scarlet8078 3 года назад +2

      I like Mal & Rory both but I do think adding a third member, someone who's a IDGAF/ YOLO type. They almost need somebody to argue & say wild stuff in order to play off of it. In radio, we usually have the straight man (which is what Rory was on JBP, just reads the stories/ topics for example) then the contrarian who argues, & sometimes a joker for comic relief. Mal doesn't really have a strong personality either as contrarian or joker

    • @leightonsavary7607
      @leightonsavary7607 3 года назад +1

      Yeah some people are better as role players to use a sports analogy than they are as the stars...but every team needs stars too win the championship. And it seems like the Rory and Mal pod has too pretty good role players on it and they still need a star(s) personality i.e. a Joe Budden or Joe Budden type personality, to win a chip tho,lol, just saying
