I lost my mom eight years ago. She was an avid gardener and loved decorating for Christmas with red bows. She would have been your biggest fan. Cherish the time you have with your parents.
I understand missing your mom! Mine died 18 years ago. She also loved Christmas, decorating her home, and gardening! She and Dad sold antiques. She would have loved Garden Answers! I relive memories of some of our shopping trips when you & your mom go antiquing! Such sweet, fun memories with so much laughter!!! Cherish your parents while you have them!!! Thank you for your videos! I start my morning watching Garden Answer with cup of coffee!
Miss my mom, too. She passes in 2003 and was born in Fairview, OR. Her father was a contractor and built the BarCBar Ranch located outside Baker City. Garden Answer speaks to our family roots. Love the entire family and everything they do❤
I lost mine last year. I miss her so much. She was someone I could call everyday to just tell her what I watched on tv. When I bought new shades for my bedroom before she passed away, I got them in a style I knew she’d like. I cried when I got them installed because I couldn’t share that little bit of my life with her. Yes, if you have a decent relationship with your mom, enjoy your time with her.
Andrew’s is the neatest store I’ve ever seen! How nice to provide that service; to bring people together to share time and talent. I love it. The wreaths look wonderful. I imagine that every year you’ll decorate a little differently at the entrance; it’ll be so fun😊❤
I wear my Andrews Garden sweatshirt all the time in Atlanta, and I have people recognize it! Mom's maiden name was Andrews and my dad's family has a ranch near Laura in Oregon, so I sort of feel like family -- the southern part anyway. Laura and Susan, you make us FEEL like family, thank you!
You don’t understand how much I appreciate your channel. Please never stop doing it. I always start my day with coffee watching to your videos and it’s so soothing ❤
The wreaths are beautiful and look so pretty on the gate. Your home and property are very festive and just watching you create all this give me joy. Thank you for sharing. Happy Birthday to your brother. Stay warm. Have a blessed day everyone.
That's a really cool way to charge people. I love that. I wish every town had a place like your parents' store. Not surprising that they are overbooked.
Their weigh-to-pay method reminded me that when I was growing up our family used to vacation at state parks (farmers can’t get away for more than a few days) and my dad was absolutely famous for ‘getting his money’s worth’ at the dinner buffet. One of the park rangers at Fall Creek Falls teased dad that they were going to bring a scale the next night to weigh him before and after the meal, and charge him by the pound! Hahaha We never let him forget it, either, esp at holiday dinners! Tennessee (and Kentucky) parks are famous for their lodges and buffets, as our family can attest.
@@eurekamarijka I know. I watch the wreath making classes every year, I think this is the first time I heard how they charge. I thought you just paid for the materials.
I am absolutely thrilled that you show us yearly how to do this. I was going to have to go back and rewatch old videos. If you didn’t show us again thank you for doing this every year. It really does make a difference and it also pushes me to go outside my comfort zone. I’ve always wanted to have a homemade wreath. Absolutely beautiful.
What a beautiful community to be apart of. I’m on the east coast & wished to be in that wreath making class. Thank you Laura for feeding me with wonderful content in this very stressful time in our world.
The simplicity of the wreaths with red velvet bows is such a timeless look! Love that you keep your channel true to you. Maybe you could try wreaths on the gate and matching teardrop swags on the columns or a garland draped on the gate and wreaths on the columns. Can’t wait to see what you do next year!
I love fresh wreaths!! When I was younger, I used to sit on the floor and make white pine wreaths my mom in law. 7 for the cemetery for my husband's family. He showed me how to make them as he had learned in his ag class in high school. With a wire form, sphagnum moss, and green plastic floral tape! It was after the kids had gone to school and he had left for work, a quiet, relaxing and creative process! But worth the effort to see my mom in laws face of happiness when we took them up and attached them to the stone! I still take wreaths to them, but now I cheet and buy them on black Friday sales at the HD home improvement store! Ten now! In loving memory to those who have gone!❤❤❤ I would love to make one for my door it's expensive to get the greens now! You do such a beautiful job with everything you do! I can't wait to tune into your channel each day! ❤❤❤🎄🎅🎄❄️
I also still make wreaths for the cemetery, 4 different ones so have to space out my time. 7 wreaths in all but I am wondering how that fabric will hold up to the elements. So glad you posted this as I will probably be the last of my generation to carry on this tradition so glad to do it while I still have my health. 🎄 Happy Holidays 🙏
We have a Christmas tree lot here that allows ppl to come get whatever they want if the branches they take off the bottom of the trees before they bundle them up. They are free! I go several times and pick through the piles until I get what I need. It's so nice of them to offer that!
The wreaths are in the right space. It never ceases to amaze me how you just wing it with the design but it always ensd up perfect. Must be your years of experience. Love it. You cant beat black, red and green. Gorgeous.
Hi Laura, I have a GREAT tip for decorating a big gate, like yours! Instead of 2 smaller wreaths, you make one huge one, and put it in the middle! What you do is, you take 2 pool noodles, and cover them individually with whatever kind of greenery, you prefer. Then, you attatch them to the gate, one on each side, so that it looks like one wreath, when the gate is closed. Then, when it opens - each side has half a wreath! And you can decorate, as you would, any other wreath 😊 But fairy lights are always cute, and half of a huge bow on each side looks great! 😁
Or just attach one giant wreath in the middle but only to one side of the gate and let it overhang the other side. When they open, the wreath moves with just the one side.
Great to see Susan and Monica and your dad briefly☺️! Those are some beautiful wreaths, 24in are perfect for the gate! What a fun day for you all 🤗❤️ Happy birthday to your brother 🥳🎉🥳 Blessings to all of you 🙏🏻❤️🤗❤
These are beautiful! You could have your gate people weld a hook, possibly made out of one of the Fleur De Lis, on the tubing where the wreath hangs just right, and be done with the exposed string. It makes for a really clean look. Those wreaths are a perfect touch!
Laura, put the exact same bow on the other side of the wreaths on the front gate, so when you leave from the front, you can also enjoy the big, red bow.
@@pgsawchukAlso selvedge, which is how I’ve always spelled it. I used to be an educator for Husqvarna Viking, and we used them interchangeably depending on which of us was writing the instructions! 😂
The first wreath I ever made was based on your inspiration years ago! To this day my only post on instagram so I could tag you in the photos 😂!! Thanks for all the beautiful ideas 🥰🎄
Your kiddos are going to have the best memories of growing up. I can just hear Benjamin say, when he's grown, "Mom and I used to get up early and start a nice fire and go on walks around the property together..." Another idea for you is to keep putting wreaths on the gates and then swags under the lights on the posts. Those bits you cut off the fabric are called the selvage or selvedge.
What you're talking about, placement of the wreath on the gate, is the centroid. The centroid is the geometric center of a shape. We call the finished edge of the material the selvage. I hope nobody steals your wreaths! They're beautiful.
The wreaths look great. Just the right size! It's always nice to have a tutorial to remind us how to make a he wreaths. Fun times for your Mom, Monica and you with the class! Benjamin's looks great too! Happy birthday to your brother. Family is everything. Enjoy having all your family together!💚
This is an awesome show as all your orhers are. Enjoy watching your family and you during holidays especially Christmas. You give me inspiration & so many ideas to build on❤ Keep your shows coming!
I love your Gates and the new wreaths. Looks very classic. They didn't look centered at the beginning because you need to divide the space between the entire gate opening in thirds. Three blank spaces. The center blank space is split in half where the gates open. Next year's challenge is to make one huge wreath and split it down the middle and hang it in the center. So when the gate opens half of the wreath goes with each gate. But when it's closed it looks like one large wreath. 😮. Then you could use smaller matching wreaths on each pillar. Look forward to watching your videos each morning.
The wreaths are lush and gorgeous, adding a warm welcome to the beautiful, stately gates. At first, I thought maybe attaching the greens to the forms in the same clockwise manner would be noticeable, but no, not at all, because the greens are so full & luxurious. Perfect proportions, too. Love the GC workshop! Blessings to you all.
I love your wreath tutorials. No one on RUclips makes wreaths like you do and yours are gorgeous. The tutorials are easy to follow and are so wonderful. The wreaths look beautiful on the gates and I wouldn't change it up at all. Can't wait to see the columns and lights next year and what you do anything you do will be beautiful
The happiest of birthday wishes to your brother! Considering your lasso skills, you may have a future in cattle rustling! ; ) Would love to take the wreath making class with your mom and Monica. How much fun! The wreaths on the gates are just perfect. It's funny how proportion changes our perspective of what is "centered." I always feel a bit blessed after watching your videos, a bit privileged to have this window into your life that also includes so much inspiration and joy. What a great way you have to earn your daily bread!
Love the wreaths Laura, so very festive with the simple greens and beautiful red velvet bows!! Speaking of the bows can you show us how to make them so beautifully and balanced? Mine would look like a 2 year old made them🎀

I have been loving the simplistic decorating style that you’ve shown so far. Classic trees, warm, white lights, red bows just scream a perfect holiday. I put my new tree up over a week ago and have yet to decorate, which is unlike me. Looks like snow is headed your way. Over Thanksgiving weekend, Erie, PA got 60” of snow and we are expecting more this weekend. I’m fearing for my arbs because they have been flattened for almost a week.
Love these wreaths! You could center one larger wreath on the whole gate by putting half a wreath on either side of the middle that would come together when closed at the middle of the gate!
