The women caught in the act of adultery seems to contradict your statement. The law is spiritual, we are unspiritual, (Ro 7:14) we don't even understand the rules of the game by our very nature (read Ro 7 in context to see how Paul would most likely be kicked out of some churches, admitting he will continue to do evil). And why murder is anger in the heart, and why Jesus may need to protect someone from the mobs of angry protestors.

@@jtv_70 Read it again: First step that Jesus did was to not only silence her accusers, and make them admit they were the ones who were with sin and have them go away. Second step is Jesus didn't condemn her for act of adultery, then finally with those sinful people out of the picture (her accusers), and speaking the truth that God did not condemn her for her act of adultery, and only then did Jesus address the root issue, which I must add we are not told what it is. We can make assumptions, but we are not told. Again we are playing a game that we don't even know the rules to and acting like judge, jury and executioner - Jesus have mercy on us, we know not what we do.

There absolutely were biblical based roles of elder and deacon within the early church designated as such by scripture. The roles are for teaching and leading the congregation and for outreach and use of resources. We are also taught to submit to thier authority so long as it is consistent with scripture.
You are correct that thier position before God is not higher than ours, in fact they will be held to a higher standard than most as thier judgements in leadership will also be judged by God.
So you are in some ways correct and some ways not.

Like you said, those titles could cause pride and division, but that is only if the person in that position becomes prideful. There is nothing wrong with having pastors or deacons or teachers, it’s part of a healthy church structure

my mom was told she wouldn't have kids. there was two miscarriages before me and then three other children after me. my mom was blessed with four amazing children that god wanted to live. I am obviously grateful for life.

Respect that i imagine was because of the period of time because women where properties and their words has no weight. Remember that men and women are made to God's image, that means that men are not above women and women aren't above men, both have the original sin and both fall from grace. The word of God can be read and learn from men and women and both has the capacity to understand it and for that reason to teach it. Now i haven't finished to read my bible so i can't know if there are other verses that explain more in detail why women can't be pastors. But that is my opnion. To be honest i really do not understand why women can't be pastors but if that is true then i know God has a good reason for it.

Also yes, are equal in Christianity and at the time women being able to spread the Gospel was taboo but a loud. There are several instance of prominent women in the Bible. Sorry, Jeff - you have taken 1 Corinthians 14:34 and I Timothy 2:11-12 _out of context_ , and they don't realize that women were disciples, and church planters, and .... [drum roll] - Pastors. Apos Paul (maybe you all have heard of him? They thought he was 'inspired" - right up until the one they omitted: The Acts of Paul and Thecla. Go look it up - it is about a virgin that Paul [real name Παῦλος ["Paulos"]) travelled with. Paul details the life and journeys of this young Christian convert, Thecla. Thecla was a young virgin who was engaged to a wealthy and powerful man in the city of Iconium. When she heard Paul preaching about chastity, however, she refused to marry the man and was sentenced to be burned at the stake. God, however, intervened and saved Thecla’s life. Thecla joined Paul on his journey to Antioch where she ran afoul of the magistrate of the city when she refused to sleep with him. The magistrate ordered Thecla to be killed several times, but each time she was saved by God. In one of her final trials, Thecla threw herself into a body of water - filled with sharks. The sharks were killed by God, and Thecla baptized herself. It is theorized that the Acts of Paul and Thecla was kept out of the official Canon ("The Bible") because Thecla’s actions were too powerful for a woman. And King James was "all about men". You form your own conclusion, but I'm betting that you will defend that King - to death.

@@ericsikma4764 There were other roles that Christ had in mind for women. For example, they played a key role in the spread of the Gospel, being the first to spread the news of the risen Christ. They were also allowed to pray and prophesy in church (1 Cor. 11:1-16), but they were not to assume the function of teaching in the Christian assembly (1Cor. 14:34-38; 1 Tim. 2:1-14), which was restricted to the clergy. Plus in Catholicism we believe that the church is Jesus’s bride
2 Corinthians 11:2: Paul refers to the church as being "espoused to Christ"
Revelation 21:2, 17: The church is referred to as "the Bride, the wife of the Lamb"
Ephesians 5:25, 32: Paul exhorts married Christian men to love their wives as Christ loved the church
And priests are a representative of Christ so therefore a woman cannot act in that capacity.

No one with a reasonable understanding of scripture uses KJV, at least not if you’re going for ease of understanding or a largely direct Hebrew or Greek to English translation. There is nothing holy, blessed, inerrant, or even mildly special about the KJV. Any claim otherwise is absurd. It’s a translation that uses words that were considered archaic in 1611 and are downright unintelligible today for a modern reader. For example, it uses the word “replenish” in Genesis when God gives the command to fill the earth. The word in 1611 could be used to mean “to fill”, whereas today it only means “to refill”. A reader today would easily misunderstand the meaning and think the Earth needed to be filled a second time, which is inaccurate to the Hebrew). Another example is using “meat” where anyone today would use “food”. Other issues could also be cited. About the only thing the translation has going for it that another doesn’t do better is that it sounds pretty. Never let anyone say it doesn’t sound elegant. However, that same elegance makes it a poor study source.

Jesus pontificated about this in Matthew 24. We seem to be living in part of Matthew 24, which is the time that preceeds the time of the Tribulation.

I know someone who started going to a megachurch. Then she became a missionary, then a pastor, then a lesbian, now she's a unitarian, not a Christian at all. Women are not supposed to be pastors or priests or deacons . However there may have been a woman in the Bible who was akin to a Deaconess. And women are needed in ministry to help other women and to teach children.
Spencer Smith was correct when he said in one of his older videos (I forget which one) that female pastors have become the litmus test for whether a church will remain faithful to the Word of God.
If we see that there is a female pastor of anything in a church we won't even give it the time of day.
Also Sunday churches are big red flags, Christ is Lord of the Sabbath, the 4th forgotten Commandment

Do these people read the Bible or listen to what they are saying??? I am 1000% sure Jesus would NOT be routing for abortion. As an atheist, I think this channel is amazing, and nearly everything Colin says would bring about a better society.
I'm intrigued that an atheist would acknowledge biblical truth, especially regarding the record Jesus given to the world by His Apostles and disciples. I tend to assume that an atheist would strive with what the Bible states about Jesus life/ teaching, rather than be in support of it; so, my hat's off to you, @BWChambers.
That all said, though, please, seriously consider that Jesus *is* who the Bible says that He is and consider doing what He came to teach everyone: repent of your sins--if you've not done so--and put your faith (belief) in the Gospel that He preached and lived out on this earth.
I say all this as someone who once called herself an agnostic and didn't give Jesus much thought, other than to view Him in light of "New Age"/ "New Thought" teachings--which denigrate His supremacy and authority over Creation.

The congregation are not MORE wicked than the pastor. The position of authority requires her to be more accountable, just as any shepherd is, for the flock they are leading ( in this case, astray ). The flock is called to pray for its leader(s), so to be accountable for praying/not praying, but they are not accountable for the leader's behaviour.

We’re warned in Colossians 2:8 to not be taken captive by empty philosophy and deceit. 1 Timothy 5:20 says that we are to rebuke those, particularly elders, in their sinning in front of everyone. Of course the flock is not responsible for the behavior of the Under-shepherd, but they ARE responsible for calling it out and rebuking lies and sin when they hear it. True disciples of Jesus are going to rebuke false teaching, not give it an Amen.

As I was watching this, I was thinking of a woman I saw on social media who was being interviewed at a pro-life march. She said she was marching for her four siblings, all of whom were murdered in the womb by her mother. The woman marching said her heart broke for her murdered siblings, and often she thought about her "luck" at being conceived at a time where her mother was actually wanting a baby. I can't imagine your very existence depending on if you were "convenient", and I would absolutely live with a ton of guilt if my mother had aborted unwanted babies and then had me.
