  • Pulling the Tired Engine - 1968 GMC - I just rescued this 1968 GMC C1500 and was able to get it running in the first video, cleaned up in the second, and new brakes in the 3rd. In this video, I pulled the tired 250 cubic inch 6-cylinder and discuss the future of this truck as well as the new engine.

I started watching you during the build you own house series, because beginning of 2020 I was also starting to break ground on my own house. We got stopped in our tracks on that project, so havent tuned in for awhile. But you just popped up on my feed with this project. I'm in the middle of building a 1970 GMC 4x4. Currently it has a 1993 corvette motor, it was a new GM goodwrench rebuild, started with fuel injection and a 4l80e, I'm finishing it up with all that it came with, but also building a 292 straight 6 to replace the 350 with. I have built a few dozen trucks, I'd much rather have the straight 6, but to each is thier own. My straight 6 should be around 500HP when its done, and capable of alot more, and hoping to get close to 20MpG but not sure how that is going to go since this combination is new to me. But the main thing is it will be very smooth and reliable. Also building a few other straight 6s to a few other projects. My point being, dont scrap the straight 6, they are sought after, and worth decent money. I built one for a friend I sold for over $20k. I say give her some paint. That way it looks clean like the engine. I’m ready to hear that thing run!

I would clean that engine compartment up and repaint it in the original colors. I would also treat any areas that are rusting as well. Your truck has an overdue date with the pressure washer and degreaser. Looking good so far. 👍

If it's rust obviously you should clean that up and put some new paint on while you can. Otherwise I would leave it
