Despite the chaos, road rage is virtually non-existent, everyone knows what to do, and just wants to get to their destination or at least through the intersection, for me however, being a foreigner, it was different, I had road rage every now and then, couldn't help it, pissed off at the queue jumpers especially getting into parking lots and venues.
If the air quality is anything like I experienced in Bangkok, Thailand, you could practically walk on the air it was so thick with fumes and particulates...I would suppose it must be the same here in Ho Chi Minh City. I notice a lot of scooter, bicyclists and motorcycle riders are wearing face masks. Could that be because of the fumes from all the traffic?
Yes...after the second day in Bangkok...my eyes were BURNING! I have no idea how the people of these polluted cities survive on a daily basis. They must have a much shorter life expectancy...that's for sure.
i dare you to ride a bicycle(not motorbike) in Sai Gon about 22 miles per hours, about 1-2 miles and not have any kind of road rage. I've try and it is chaos. More dangerous than New York city. DAMN SON!!!!
Take notice of the Vinasun Taxis : all white with green and red arrows as the logo and red and green stripes below. These are the taxis which are safe to take because they charge you according to the REAL metres. If it was not the hotel staff who helped us to flag down one, we would stick to this one. Once after we watched the water puppet show, we were approached by a guy standing beside his all green taxi who asked where we wanted to go. We told him 'Vivocity' and he said okay. In the taxi, we already felt uneasy because the metre was jumping very, very rapidly. Only about 10 minutes later, he pulled up at a shopping mall called don't know what Vikon and the metre was 400 000 Dong! We took the cab from the airport to our Chinatown hotel in Saigon cost only about 150 000 Dong. This crook even gave us a number to tell us to go ahead to make a complaint and waited for us to take down his licence plate before he drove off. I think either his was a fake taxi or the taxi company itself is a cheating one.
+Happy 888 ... The motorcycle taxi was much cheaper but you have to be careful that you might hop on a pirate ship. The bus is really very cheap if you know how to take one to your destination. I don't remember where we went but a 20-minute bus ride cost only 5000 Dong.
would the government do anything to control traffic in Saigon. I don't think they would because there are not any regulation at all. watch and learn how we drive with the respect traffic rules in western country.

I just don't understand this very heavy traffic. Do they ever have any accident? People barely make it each day.
