  • In this segment, we solve two example problems that employ refrigeration cycles. The first example is for an air conditioner with a given coefficient of performance (COP) and heat transfer rate from a cooled space and asks about the electrical power input and heat transfer to the surrounding air. The second solved example is for a heat pump with given a room heating rate and electrical power input and asks about the coefficient of performance (COP) of the heat pump and energy absorption rate from the surrounding air.
