These three singing squashes are driven by a RaspberryPi and low-cost projector. Your guests pick either a song, scare or haunting tale using the 3D printed control panel and its illuminated arcade buttons. This is housed securely alongside a waterproof speaker and all stands at the end of your drive/garden. This keeps the mains electricity and your projector safely indoors.

Every time I've wanted to build something cool, you have a video on it. You're brilliant.
Glad I could help!
@@DIYMachines Seriously. Thank you for all of your content. You really inspire people to create.
in the last two days i've been lost in your videos, dude i gotta say , you are explaining everything really nicely and understandable, really makes me buy a 3d printer and start making stuff for my kids. thanks man. you have found a new member to your channel. thank you, keep doing what you do
Wow, thanks. :)
This is the first video of yours I see, but man, you are so underrated! Amazing work!
Wow thanks Luis.
I have used this pumpkin video projection effect but with the projector outside for the last 2 years the kids just love it. Have a go as this version covers if it’s raining on the night.
Yes, I don't trust the weather here (UK) and I'm worried about leaving my projector unattended outside.
Finally found a channel that has a content of my type 😆
GREAT visuals (wiring the 8pin header) in this video. Very well done!
So funny, your projects always so interesting, really love it
this is really good, very inspiring and very well explained. thank you for this top quality DIY !! cheers from France
DUDE THAT'S AWESOME, you must make a demo video showing the 3 modes of the pumpkins, also a full performance of the song!!!!!!
Great work. Just in time for this years Halloween !!
OMG this is absolutely brilliant! I have been looking at every halloween store for something like this! Why not just build it!! Thank you so so much for your video! Time to buy some new filament and get started on Halloween projects!
Beautiful ... amazing and unique result.
Thanks for the kind words Prashant. :)
increible, me encanta..me voy a poner manos a la obra
This an impressive build!
Thank you.
This is great!
Thank you. 😊
Looks fucking cool!
I'm so excited after watching this!! I wonder if I can put one of those AtmosFX sheets over my window behind the pumpkins so I don't have my wide open window and projector visible from the road. I wonder if that would ruin the projection. I have no idea.
Seu canal é top, parabéns... ganhou mais um fã.
You are so genius bro
Thank you. I hope you enjoyed it. :)
Sample clips and software step-by-step guide are available here: www.diymachines.co.uk/interactive-performing-pumpkins
I hope you enjoyed the project video. :)
Cool)
Thanks. 😊
Lewis makes the coolest stuff!
Wow thanks Jerry. :)
:D this is so funny, ur made my day, good job
Thanks and your welcome. :) !
nice! Question: what did you use for your wiring diagram? I always end up using the back of an envelop or a napkin....
Sorry for the super slow reply - I made the diagrams for this project in Keynote.
Thank you for the great video, can I ask what the resistor on the button is for?
I assume to keep the pin pulled to LOW. Once pressed it the pin can go to HIGH state
@@laserr10000000 thank you for the reply
@@laserr10000000 It's actually to limit the current through the LED... The legs of the resistor is connected between one of the LED terminal and the ground wire (purple). GPIO14/17/27 are 5V signals controlling the LED on the push button... with a ~3V forward voltage for the LED, a series resistor of 220ohms gives about 9mA, not too bright, but perfect for night time illumination
Do you think I will be able to use Bluetooth from Pi, instead of headphone jack?
This would be possible, but I might be a little concerned about a delay with the bluetooth audio. Might not be all that noticeable.
@@DIYMachines Thank you soo much. Awesome project. Can't wait till you put the instructions.
@@priyan776 The software instructions are now complete, you can find it here: www.diymachines.co.uk/interactive-performing-pumpkins Thanks for your patience. :)
Nice project!
Fyi, on the post mount, it sounded like you said 70cm instead of 7 cm or 70mm.
Thanks Richard, I wouldn't be surprised. I'm often getting my words jumbled - most get found and fixed when I edit but some slip past my eyes and ears and make it into the final video. Well done on spotting it though.
@@DIYMachines when I opened the post mount it opened as 100mm not 70. 100 is just under 4 inches which sounds right, at least here in the states.
🔥👌👍😍
🙏 😊
@@DIYMachines 👍
Hit a roadblock with my build, I am all but there however pipresents doesn't seem to work anymore, is there anything else we can use or a workaround?
what type of raspberry do I need to get, just the board, the starter kit or a complete kit?
I used a Raspberry Pi V4: geni.us/RaspberryPiV4
Great idea! where can we download the sample clips? :)
Hi Pascal, I will have them up tomorrow (less than 24hours) when I finish the written guide on my site. It will be posted here: www.diymachines.co.uk/interactive-performing-pumpkins
The guide and sample animations are now available - thanks for your patience. You'll find it all here: www.diymachines.co.uk/interactive-performing-pumpkins
@@DIYMachines thanks!
How do I replace the buffering video?
Any chance you will update your code?
Looks like Pi Presents no longer supports version 'gapless' and have version 'beep,' the new version will only support Python 3 so the code in your pre-prepared profiles is no longer compatible.
noooooooo I'm not smart enough to figure it out on my own! I don't know how to code :( I'll follow this I hope he can update it!
Oh man! I've been printing and getting things made to set this up. I hope the code gets updated! 😟
hi, I'm planning to get a Prusa. Tried using your link, but your ID is "lost" as soon as I go to the next buying step ...
A Prusa is a great choice, I doubt you'll have any regrets. Thank you for using the link - it does help me a lot. I believe the ID in the URL is saved as a cookie or similar and should continue to track when you check out. (At least I hope that is what happens 🙂)
@@DIYMachines and I do love your realisation
All my buttons light up but only the scare one works when pressed. I've re-wired and reconnected but same result. Any ideas? I'm sure I'm missing something simple.
Hmm, do the other buttons blink as though they should be working when pressed?
I can't seem to find 10 core wire on Amazon. Any other place that sells it?
Where did you get the pumpkins from?
The pumpkins are 3d printed.
@@XxERMxX Do you think you can 3D print them without the window attachment if you don't intend to mount them on a window?
These commands don't seem to work any longer, do you have any suggestions? I'm deep into this project and am having terouble getting the Rpi setup.
sudo apt-get install python-pil
sudo apt-get install python-imaging-tk
Any luck with getting updated code?
missing pumpkin top stl file
Well spotted and thanks for letting me know. I have added it now. :)
Ukraine like this
I was very impressed until it was determined you have to pay for the animations. Too bay you are on Instructables showing a "for profit" project.
Even from the website from Lewis? Where you can download the files
God forbid you have to pay someone for their work
