Amy, I love how varied and unique your projects are! The band samplers are gorgeous, and so are your other WIPs. Good job deciding you need to stay under 40. And I understand not enjoying a fabric....just sorry you are so far in. Do what you like and love!!! Have fun at your stitchy gathering. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I messed up the bats on Halloween Quaker too! I like the idea of just adding one more. Great progress on your stitching! Thanks for sharing and be well!
Hi, Amy! Great to see you again! Girl, I sooooo hear you on the sewing machine and the pillow making. 😊 I did the exact same thing you did, but my goal was just to zigzag the edges on some of my cross stitch fabric pieces so I could stitch on them! 😂 I got out my manual for my machine, and re-learned how to thread my machine, and adjust all the settings. Then I excitedly finished the edges in several pieces of linen! I was quite proud of myself! My next goal is to learn to finish something, like you did! 👍😃 Thank you for sharing all your finishes and WIPs, they are absolutely gorgeous! Have fun on your stitching retreat. 🧵🪡 Meline
Love your video, your finishes and your wips. Love that chart from Renato, had to stop the video and order it, but of course no chart can travel alone. lol. Happy stitching!
First time watching and I loved it!! I like the sound of a New England retreat! I have a good friend in Maine I haven't seen since before Covid (BC). We might have to join you in November!! I love all of your vintage Blackbird... makes me want to go dig through my stash!!
Loved catching up with your stitching. Those band samplers are gorgeous!! Have fun on your mini retreat :) Can't wait for November!!! I say if you're not loving the swamp green fabric then switch. Stitching should make us happy. Stay safe and healthy ~ Pam
Wonderful band samplers. I think i got part 1 done lol. Very cute BB too. Love the Permin. I have it. Never really looked at it lol. But i will now. Its breathtaking. It will be a masterpiece. Modern folk very pretty. Great colour choices. Reminds me of delft. Thanks for sharing. Stay in touch
So great to catch up with you! Congrats on your two finishes. They look wonderful! I'm very sorry about Botany Bay. I haven't made mine a ufo yet, but it hasn't seen the light of day in over a year. I got frustrated trying to figure out the backstitch colors. Yes, you probably need to restart that one project if it's not bringing you joy. Maybe you can coffee dye what you've done so far and make it into a pillow or drum. (Congrats on your first pillow! Great job!) Have a great time at your retreat and take lots of photos.
Hi Amy, Congratulations on your fabulous finish of the band sampler. It is just gorgeous. I think you should restart your Blackbird piece. That’s not a crazy idea at all, especially if you hate it. Your wips are so beautiful too - that green blanket will be stunning! Julie is a good egg; what a lovely friend. Take care, Nicky xxx
I just recently found you on Floss tube and wanted to say how much I enjoy your videos. I started watching from your beginning and I'm thrilled to find someone who shares "a thing" for Quaker samplers/motifs like I do! Keep it up - you do beautiful work!
This is my first time watching your floss tube channel and I thoroughly enjoyed it and have subscribed. It was like I was sitting across the table with you having a conversation.
If you don't like the fabric, by all means start it over! I hope you do find something to do with the part that you've already stitched; it is lovely. I'm so glad to hear you say something that I've been thinking lately. We so often say "it's just DMC" but our pieces with DMC are just as beautiful as those stitched with other flosses. Your WIPs that you shared with us are evidence of that. I love blues, so I especially love your Modern Folk Embroidery piece. Enjoy your retreat!
Thanks for giving me permission to abandon Botany Bay. The little pillow is so lovely - and so are you! You are the bomb. Love, love, love your videos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So good to see you! You guys are going to have a blast this weekend. I wish I could be there! I'm signed up for November and can't wait. Good for you for UFOing some projects or restarting with fabric you love! I moved on from a couple that I just don't live anymore too.
Make Quaker Garden into a pillow with your new sewing skills. It will be stunning re-started on the Valor. Both you and Abi have that JBW chart pack now. I'm tempted, very tempted. All of your new stash is tempting!
It was wonderful seeing you again! Regarding restarting you project.... I would restart. I think cross stitching is about doing something that gives you joy. It difficult to be excited about doing something that doesn’t make you happy. Be happy and enjoy what you do!
So nice to hear from you again. I rally like your projects. And about the question you asked us, I would stick to the WDW material, but you have to do it. And if you prefer a different material, I would say go for it.
Great to hear from you today! Yes, I encourage you to restart your project. I do also encourage you to make something of your work so far. We look forward to seeing what becomes of it all!
Amy, I love your videos. The red band sampler is gorgeous!! I also love the jade band sampler and the green blanket. I think restarting the BBD Quaker is a good idea if you hate the fabric that much. I would love to go to Needleworkers Delight.
New subscriber🙂. Really enjoyed your videos. You enabled me! 😳I want to stitch this years band sampler. Will look at your link as soon as I’m done watching your video! Also love love love all your books behind you. What kind of books do you like to read?
I have such a problem stitching on green fabric. I like can't see on it. I like your other choice better for the Blackbird pattern. Your red and green sampler scrolls are just gorgeous!
I have some pieces I won’t touch because I hate the fabric. It’s worth starting over IMO or it will never get done probably. I love the red work piece on the banding!
Camp Wool in Kennebunk Maine has a copy of the Botany Bay Sampler.... She’s about the move further up into Maine and her last day there is May 22nd....She has quite a bit of Blackbird’s too.
I think I'd restart the Blackbird. I had a project I hated stitching on WDW fabric, but it looked great so I persevered. If you're not going to be happy with the final product, what's the point? I'm in the mood to get my WIP count down and have been working on that for a couple of years. Unfortunately, I'm still at 64 so there's a long way to go. Happy stitching!
I feel that the more I try to decrease my WIP count the faster it increases. Almost like dieting and my weight 😂. I’m still on the fence about quaker garden. I’ll explain in my next video. I have definitely learned I do not like stitching on the old weeks fabric and I will either sell or give away the last few pieces I have. Stitching is very tactile for me. And if I don’t enjoy the feel of the fabric I can’t enjoy the process.
Oh my. I am in Media near Strawberry Sampler. That’s my local shop . So glad you enjoyed the visit there. Your stitching is beautiful. What is a book bag? Does she sell them? Barbara B.
I Couldn’t remember the name of the town last night. We had visited Villanova last that day and Media was only 30 minutes away so I needed to go! Really pretty shop with wonderful models. A book sleeve is to put a book in to keep it looking nice....when you carry it with you. Some people use them for cross stitch projects too.
@@gablesstitcher3325 Good luck looking at Schools Swarthmore Villanova West Chester Bloomsburg Stroudsberg Millersvile.... and many in Philadelphia Thank you for answering my question so quickly. Really enjoy your progress and any info you give for beginners. Barbara
I just purchased the Sarah Platt chart, so my ears perked up when you said that the Strawberry sampler stitched it on dubloon. Do you think they stitched it with called for threads or do you think they did a color conversion? If so I will call them.
Julie they told me they stitched Sarah Platt on Dubloon with the called for overdyes. Their models were stunning and had it recorded all the materials of the model so they were very helpful. Sarah Platt on the dubloon was stunning. But I think any dark fabric would be very pretty because the overdye threads would pop.
Hi Amy, Your band samplers are beautiful. I am not on facebook, do you know if there is a way to contact the group by email to see if I could join? Thank you.
Thank you Patti! Here is the link to the cross stitch event on the east hill farm page. The website has the phone numbers to contact them too. east-hill-farm.com/retreats/
Restart the Quaker project on fabric you like; life is too short to be stitching on something you don’t like, makes a small pillow or another finish out of what you have stitched and move forward. I doubt that you would ever really like that project or want to pay to have it framed since you really aren’t liking it. Happy stitching.................
Love all your projects! Hard for me to believe you would restart the Quaker project. I can only do things once...One and done. You have more gumption than me💁♀️🪡❤️xxx. I am always on to the next new project! If you decide to redo, I would be the first to cheer you on. 🎉🎉🎉. Thanks for a great video.
I had some murky and didn’t like it either because even though it wasn’t 40 count, it seemed to have fuss all over it that you could almost scratch off. It was kind of creepy and reminded me of mold. 😦
I’ve had that problem sometimes with PTP fabric too. I wonder if they use hot water in their dye process or to wash which is why it gets that “fuzz”. Either way not pleasant and we don’t want to think of moldy fabric while stitching!
Do what makes you more comfortable how horrid to put so much work into something you will never be happy with (been there done that never works) by the way you do top work lovely
Thank you Lynda! I’m still on the fence 🤦♀️. Think I’ll stitch a little bit more on it before I start over just to make sure. I think either way I’ll stitch it again on a different color fabric someday.
Think of how many new projects are waiting for you while the perfectionist in you screams for a different fabric for this particular WIP. Just finish it as is and move on, you’ll feel much better for resisting the temptation. Gorgeous work on your WIPs, by the way, so neat.
So many beautiful projects! That green blanket is amazing!
