Giveaway Update! The team from Bonavita reached out and have also opted in to join the giveaway. My email to them just slipped through the cracks, so thanks to Bonavita for offering their kettle as well!
I just discovered that you can in fact turn off the temperature hold function on the SAKI Baristan. If you simply tap the power button during heating or temp hold, the corresponding icon will disappear, after which the kettle will be idle. Even after removing and replacing the kettle back on the base, the kettle will remain idle and not heat until you tap the power button again
Thank you, Steven for the excellent review. I've been using the Hario V60 "Buono" gooseneck stovetop kettle for my daily pour-overs. Now I can look into temp controlled gooseneck kettles thanks to your comprehensive review. Cheers.
Great video! I purchased an off brand kettle off Amazon last spring and it was such a huge game changer! I was skeptical with the price but anything was better than waiting for my stovetop to finish boiling water. I don't remember seeing the Cosori at the time of my purchase though.
Loved the comparisons! I have the Fellow Stagg and it can be frustratingly slow if you just want to fill a glass with water! Also, it does have a built-in brew timer by holding the power button down while on.
No critical info that really matters... Are they true stainless steel, are they seamless construction, is the heating element stainless also, checking if there's any plastic or silicone that comes in contact with the water.
The Bonavita has a timer too. After you remove the kettle hit the + and the timer starts. Unfortunately when you put kettle back on the base it turns off the timer🫤
Resistive heating elements (like in electric tea kettles) do degrade over time. This reduces their heat generated and also inversely their wattage drawn. This is an excellent way to test a kettles heating element by testing the maximum wattage drawn vs rated wattage draw. Take note, US kettles can have a maximum wattage draw of ~1800 watts (15 Amps X 120 Volts) due to our electric grid setup. While UK/EU/AU kettles can push ~2300 watts (10 Amps X 230 Volts). This means that US kettles will always be slower to heat than UK/EU/AU ones. (UK/AU 230V X 10amp, EU 220V X 10amp)
UK is based more like 240 Volts, but 230 is common in Europe. Also, most European Gooseneck Kettles do not seem to take full advantage of this difference, or at least not all of it.
I'm just now researching the purchase of an electric kettle that doesn't always heat the whole way to boiling. Since I want to heat just 12 oz of water at a time, I've been trying to find out the minimum amount of water the various kettles require. This seems to be an industry secret.
Nice video. I was searching for a gooseneck kettle a few months ago but couldn't find anything that I would be confident is not money wasted on an overpriced kettle. Especially when most of them have small capacity. Currently, I have a normal spout kettle and it would be nice to try one of these. Thank you for the giveaway, hopefully, I can enter as I am not US so there is an issue with shipping to Poland and different electric infrastructure (120V in the US and 240V here).
Really appreciate the amount or effort you have put in to make this possible. Also the factors consider for the comparison are so appropriate and clear I must say. It gave me an in depth information. I have always wanted one of these to have that precision and control. I have Participated in the giveaway. Fingers crossed 🤞
You haven't mentioned the pungent stench of the fellow when it comes out of the box. It reeks of chemicals like crazy. I tested a few and they all did stink
It is not legitimate. There have been a ton of spam bots replying to comments that have our logo but a different account name. I'm trying to keep up with reporting every one of them, but they seem to really enjoy this video!
The Saki being both the heaviest and having the most wrist strain (it is as anti-ergonomic a handle as I’ve seen on a kettle pretty much ever, even moreso than handles that swivel above the lid and make you lift them higher) are quite the deterrent, especially knowing my hands would be at the top, that harsh edge of what is basically just a painted bracket from a hardware store (sorry, Saki, I like some of your other products!) would just be digging into the same spot of my forefinger… yikes, barista hell right there given how repetitive the motion of their jobs already is… wrist strain, I see you one and add another hundred grams of weight and a thin metal plane pushing in as you grip it all day! Eep. Maybe save the red lights for something, somewhere, and someone a little more sensual with a different kind of repetitive motion strain in the hands, lighter weight and grip, I would dare believe!🤣
“Very nitpicky thing that just doesn’t matter…” I see you have not had teas that do 5 second steep times and typically use 100-125g of water per steep! It does matter. 😊

The speed of the fellow isn't really a problem if you take the lid off and pour from the side. You can empty it out real fast that way
Was just reading an article on the best gooseneck kettles. The Brewista is definitely my favorite when it comes to aesthetics. Looks fantastic.
Yea it's definitely a beautiful kettle, and works great as well!
It only looks like wood but it's all plastic
SOOO happy I found your channel! Great video
Found the bit about pour speed quite helpful, good video!
Glad it was helpful!

Nice! It's definitely a great upgrade to have the temperature control.
I am new to your channel, and I am so glad to have found you. Selecting a pourover kettle has been a total overwhelm. Thanks for your enlightenment.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the kind words!

They're a great upgrade, glad you're enjoying it!
Thank you. Great comparision. SAKI is my favorite. Perfect design. Fast heating.
The Saki is really great. Thanks for watching!
Very informative! Thank you for being so thorough! I made my decision and decided to go with the Brewista. Can't wait to get it!
Oh perfect timing! I was just looking at new goose neck kettles
We just knew it! 😉
Loved the comparisons! I have the Fellow Stagg and it can be frustratingly slow if you just want to fill a glass with water!

Wow, these built-in timers are really slipping past me. Thanks for the info!
Thank you for doing this review I appreciate it very much. Have a wonderful day and don't forget to make your life a masterpiece
Just missed the launch of the new fellow kettle. I think they added a beep with the new one.
Good video but I just wanted to mention that the Fellow Stagg EKG also has a timer built into the base. I really enjoyed the video though.
I guess I was just too focused on wormy to remember the timer...whoops! Haha thanks for the info.
Are the winners announced already? Or did I missed it ?
Why did you not review the OXO? It's the best out of all of those.
Labor of love making this video! 🤞
Appreciate the kind words!
Fellows kettle has a timer if you hold the temp button down for 3 seconds
Mine is not working. Hopefully support will pull through
Thanks! Does the plastic cover on the Bonavita interfere with temperature at all?
No, and it's easily removable. Only needed if you are in a hurry or being sloppy.
Not sure if I missed, but do any of these have a safety feature of not boiling when empty?
The Cosori does for sure, but have t put that to the test yet, just got it today.

Good info, nice dry wit and pretty blue eyes, what more can you ask for in a review.

what do you think about JBK Variable Temperature Control Pour Over Gooseneck Electric Kettle for Specialty Coffee and Tea, Matte Black
OXO is by far the best. I have used them all.
I just broke my Bonavista non variable gooseneck kettle. I am looking to upgrade to a new electric kettle
Minor nitpick. The + button on the Bonavita starts a timer with the kettle off.
My mind is blown....I just ran to my kettle to try this out. Haha thanks for the info!
Thanks a lot for the video! Very informative :)
Glad it was helpful!
Has anyone ever tried the kitchen aid gooseneck electric kettle?
I so need a great electric Gooseneck kettle that won't leak!!! Pick me a winner please.
Best of luck!!

Cricket song gave me a good chuckle
Glad someone enjoyed it!
I have the fellow and it's definitely a good kettle but my god... pouring for anything other than pour over is brutally slow.
Unfortunately true...
You can play worm on the fellow stag ekg take my money!!!
Wish i had some luck
Everyone has the same chances, so best of luck to you!
So .... got more than one text message advising me that I was selected. Is this legitimate? Phone number does not appear to be functional. Just saying

Yes we know your wrists are limp and brittle from all the soy

I have the fellow and its horrible - leaks from the top and also pours way to slow
They fixed that with the pro I believe, for sure with the pro studio though
Fellows fast pour....remove lid and pour from top
The amount of times I did that during this video and spilled water everywhere...
Grams and Fahrenheit?!!
Yea, we go crazy over here.
no worries bro ... with my earbuds I can't hear a cricket for anything :-D
Over here I'm the first one in the comments I never did that before. 🙂☕
Well done!
