thats nothing i had dental work done under GA last october was in surgery 3 and a half hours and slept for 14 hours after just waking for small amounts of water and to pee

Thank you so much, this video was super helpful! As a UK girl of similar age who also had wisdom teeth taken out under general anaesthetic this video was my main source of information to prepare me! I am now 5 days post surgery. Do you know when you were able to eat solid food again?
I just got my referral to have mine out today so I’m researching, did you ask for general anaesthetic as I’m terrified of dentists and if it’s local I’m not going through with it.. also did you have to pay to have them removed? I know you pay for treatment at the dentist but not sure if you pay when it’s passed on through the hospital, would greatly appreciate any advise!
@@Shaunaop38Hi, so basically due to the huge wait times on the NHS at the moment I ended up doing it privately, if the wait wasn’t so long I would have done it NHS. But I am aware that even with NHS you can ask to have general anesthetic and they are likely to let you if there is a complication or if you are having multiple teeth out at once. Also If you explain you are very nervous and would prefer general anesthetic, that in itself if enough for them to let you I think.
I'm getting mine out on the 22nd so nervous I've been under general anaesthesia before to get my tonsils out but I wasn't loopy when I woke up so still questioning the process

Hello! Yes they did, I was on antibiotics for a few weeks snd lots of painkillers too
Discharge was in the same day with surgery? Please tell me if on surgery they put you on a metal table or on a normal dentistchair? It is ok to be single at home in first and second day?

My bottom teeth have come through, the top two haven’t at all. Sometimes the gums get a bit red from erupting but other than that I’m fine.

So nice to see someone in the UK I'm from Wales and absolutely ******** myself to have 3 out, one is apparently just roots and a tooth that clearly crumbled without me noticing (I have nice teeth and have have braces etc) 33 and they have only now caused me problems. So scared

im getting mine out tomorrow ive had to wait 20 weeks because the waiting list so long so its been really painful my wisdom tooth is literally half inside the molar next to it, ive been living off painkillers for months.

Hey! How was your experience, especially with the general anesthesia? Can you describe what you remember?
@@candywilson3884 tbh not that great the staff were brilliant but the over all experience was very rushed. I was sedated and I don't remember much after a few seconds I woke in recovery still very out of it and was told to eat a small pot of ice cream and then my next of kin was told to collect me. In all I was in for 90 mins after waking and then taken home. They rushed me out so fast they forgot my prescription for antibiotics and I was in no state to ask for it as I forgot to and 5 days later I was in agony with dry socket and an infection. Took 2 weeks of antibiotics to clear it. The pain was horrendous. I didn't eat or sleep for days. Its all healed now but we are 5 weeks later and I only began eating properly again a week ago. The sedation itself was pretty straight forward used an canula to inject the fluid and I was out in 30 seconds. Waking up felt a bit like a thick fog almost like I was exhausted for around an hour but after that I was just generally tired for about 24 hours but unable to sleep.

Hey!! 😊My names Amber too I was meant to have this in Jan but my apt got cancelled. I had the same issue as u need to have someone at sight for 24 hrs which is annoying where did u get yrs done? Do u they acc give u a tube in yr throat while u r asleep? Thanks for sharing this video! I am not looking forward to having mine

I haven't had dis done yet was meant to get it out last jan but they refused to treat me cos I live independently and don't have anyone I trust who will be able to support me wiv after care so I'm currently looking for outpatient services as I've still not had it sorted. I am petrified about general anaesthesia cos of side effects, my risks and having a tube in my throat as ppl say incubation is too uncomfortable but the hospital recommended it as they told me I needed all 4 removed although I'm not in pain. I'm glad yr ones went well it's really nerve wracking for me as its my first surgery too
Update finally had this done on Thurs. Very scary experience wasn’t even going to let them do it but was so shocking how fast it happened, dnt remember fallen asleep, as soon as they made me wear the mask they were moving me into the other room dnt recall anything else happening. I got removed 3. Throat & mouth was mildly sore but my recovery is going rapidly, fluids helped btw ty for sharing

Amber Doig-Thorne I had them taken out this morning. I woke up and cried and said “wow I’m high as shitttt” It wasn’t as bad as I thought at all. I’m pretty sore though. Your video eased my anxiety a lot! Thank you for sharing
I'm getting mines out next month in hospital. all 3 of mines have come through the gums but are coming in weird but my bottom one is really close to a nerve that I could lose feeling.
I had the same problem! My lower right tooth was touching the nerve and I ended up with a little nerve damage to my lips but it’s not too bad actually ☺️
How was your surgery? Did you also have general anesthesia? What do you remember?
I’m planing to have a wisdom tooth on bottom left removed (and possibly the top left too) under general anesthesia, thought they’re both grown out (or at least the top left and right has) and could be removed with a nubing shot, but I don’t like how the numbing shot hurts a lot more than normal vaccine or blood exam, so that’s why I’ll rather get the general anesthesia. And to anyone who are scared of general anesthesia, from my experiense, I can say that there’s no need to be afraid 🙂 It’s not terrible at all and doesn’t hurt, if you’re put to sleep with gass 😄The smell of the gass just may linger in the nose for a while tho.

Update: Just had my wisdom teeth removed yesterday morning under general anesthesia, and according to the nurse, all went well 😊 I ended up having all three removed (I never had a 4th one) Have had some aching, that has mostly been on the left side. Probably because I had to get the bottom wisdom tooth removed surgically.

@@bea6059 I asked it to be done under general anesthesia as I had the x-ray taken, and then they let me know when they'd be able to do it and suggested me a time

I’m praying I get to be knocked out! One of my wisdom teeth are growing on the side. It’s come thorough the gym but 1/2 of it is still under. It’s pushing on my other tooth & I have a feeling it’s infected too. I’m from the UK too
Have you had your surgery yet? If not, is it scheduled? It’s more common than you think to be knocked out for this procedure.
@@candywilson3884 yep! Had it a few months back. Didn’t get knocked out I was numbed. It was fine! Didn’t hurt at all apart from when the anethetic worn off!
