Spencer, as a Wales fan, when we hear comments like "they would have only chosen to represent Wales on the back of thinking they wouldn't get in the England team", THAT is why we celebrated when England lost against Iceland. We've put up with total arrogance from English supporters throughout the years, most of the time when you don't even realise you are doing it (like here), and that is why there is a certain deliciousness to watching our team perform so brilliantly while England have failed so miserably.
Bored or English fans complaining about how the Welsh have acted. We have endured all the digs and the jokes just for being Welsh for years and years. Finally we have upped England who of course we have rivalry with and now the Welsh are giving the English some of their own medicine. Shame most England fans can't take it but can always seem to give it out

I don't understand why English fans are unhappy that Wales celebrated the fact that England lost, you would expect this from rivalries like United and City, this is just the same. Also pretty sure England acted like the won the whole thing when they beat Wales in the group stage.

Or what about the amount of shit we had to take when you beat us in the group? We've always had to put up with the English disrespecting us. Add in all the comments from English supporters and pundits who said only Bale would get into the England team and I think it's very understandable that the players reacted the way that they did.

The welsh celebrated that England went out because they've always been in the shadows of England for ever, and finally their moment. England wouldn't celebrate like that if Wales did because it's expected that England is the best team

tbh I don't blame the welsh players at all for the way they acted seeing as England has made Wales suffer very badly in the past and the rivalry between both countries goes waayy back to when England stole Wales' independence and further, they've never stopped treating us like sh*t even today and I hope that England feels ashamed of the way they've been, the welsh and Scottish never really agreed to be in the 'UK' but we had no chance, we aren't known as the welsh anymore, instead we are now against our will 'british'.

@Anglo Commando incorrect! The Kingdom of Wales was occupied from 1284 to 1400. The Principality of Wales was a different government to the Kingdom of Wales that was founded in 1057. The reason why Wales aint on the Union Flag is because they have no legal means to add it. As Owian Glyndwr took the de jure title into hiding with him. The one Charles has is the de Facto. Hence why he also has no role in the Countries running.
Also, the Principality came to an end almost 200 years before the unions founding. So to say the reason why it's not on there is conquest is utter nonsensical and a myth. A Myth built upon for the reason I have already stated. They CAN'T add it and don't want people to be Aware of this fact.

I don't understand why people are finding the Welsh celebration disrespectful. We are rivals and you don't want your rivals to do well, therefore you tend to celebrate when they lose. Personally I think that their celebration was fine. Things like it happen in the premier league every week so I don't see what's wrong? The welsh are just enjoying their time for once.
To be honest I'm English and even I don't see what all the complaining is about, we would have done the same if Wales got knocked out, so really I only think it's fair for Wales to do the same really.
Though we are rivals, we are friendly rivals and we should both want each other to succeed. We found this disrespectful as we are both neighbouring nations and should be supporting each other, not cheering when we go out. It's not like Messi and ronaldo cheer when each other lose, hence why they are friendly rivals and they are still friends overall.

Welsh person here, I didn't see anything wrong with Wales celebrating when England got knocked out, England fans were ripping us for the 2-1 result, so I think it was a bit of payback! And to be fair I bet them boys who were born in England will consider themselves Welsh! And let's not forget a lot of the English Rugby team aren't English but that doesn't get mentioned does it 😉! England have classically had a rivalry with Scotland also, the home nations all generally seem to have animosity towards England, I presume it's because they're smaller and feel unnecessarily jealous and insecure, alongside obvious history in some cases. England has traditionally had all the glory and attention so Wales in this case are desperate to 'beat' them.
Football brings the worst out in any animosity/rivalry.
Alas, Portugal will stop Wales's amazing run but their players can be proud, Williams and Ramsey have stepped up especially, showing that they're not just 'Bales' :)

For the Welsh celebrations I think there was nothing wrong with it, we are rivals with English Soccer same as we are with England Rugby Union and League. I was cheering when England lost, not because England lost but because Iceland won. It is good to see the underdog do well.
