    You can see that Yamaha has to make a few improvements to keep market share. The Transalp and Tenere are obvious choices for majority of North America because owning an exotic is a crap shoot.. depending on where you live an Italian motorcycle dealer is likely to be far away, Italian motorcycles have a deserved reputation for service issues and parts availability. I love Ducati and MV and Aprilia. Friend has an Aprilia and waited 100+ days for a front brake part that put his bike on the sideline and that's with a dealer here in town. Yamaha will need to get cruise control and tubeless wheels, the linkage and modified seat are already available and short people have immediate, available and relatively inexpensive options to lower the Tenere and Honda and Aprilia have many things out of the box . Have not seen many Aprilias here in Baja and look forward to seeing how they fare in thousands of miles of service free areas. KTM has some issues with electronics for sure, w multiple LCD screen failures that I have seen personally and otherwise bikes work well. Aprilia and others are listening to the market and making bikes w road manners and do research instead of cheerleading like Yamaha. Yamaha knows that the majority of T7 riding and riders are middle aged and limited off road but bike is uncomfortable and has zero wind protection and has ergonomics for torture not touring.. they better fix it or these other options are going to suck up market share.. Aprilia and Honda getting lots of buzz

    I’ve had the Tuareg for just over a year. I’ve done parts of the Idaho BDR and just got back from the White Rim Trail in Moab. It’s awesome. I’ve had no reliability issues other than a faulty fuel gauge. Warranty.
    If you haven’t already, get a UNI foam filter from Australia. Ditch that cheap paper filter.
    And get the quick shifter. Awesome. I see you’re in Phoenix. I’m in Mesa. I worked in Phoenix for years. I’ve got over 5K miles on now and again no issues. You’re gonna love it.

      Very cool, I was just at white rim! I’m gonna take your advice on the filter too. I’ve had my 660 for a little over a year too. Only issue was the battery from the day I purchased it.
      Looking to do the Nor Cal BDR in July with as soon as my leg is better.

    Some years ago I borrowed a 650 dakar that made me switch from cruisers to a V-strom 650xt (adv bikes where my original dream growing up).
    I only got the V-strom xt because sh market was not that great that year, a new bmw800 was expensive and t660 was a grand more and a bit taller than the V-strom. Also, could not test any of the bikes so I went with a safe choice...
    Some years passed and I thought a change is in order since I never did get along with the V-strom (a great bike with a great engine, just not for me)... Went to Aprilia to test the v85tt, they had none for test so I got the 660Touareg, this bike made me feel like the dakar did and I started to do some reaserch on the new bikes that came or were coming out.
    I managed to ride the 660, dealer was okish... Did not like the heat only on the right leg (felt weird), was not allowed to change the riding modes (weird...), felt like the fake vents next to the headlight were suposed to be the actual intake(if it was so it was rushed out) and the seat was a bit uncomfortable.
    Overall the bike was pretty amazing.
    Got to test the t7 and I only have three complaints, the seat cut of circulation to my left leg (this is just a me problem), still a bit to tall (I am not buying a bike so I can lower it) and because I suck at even the easiest trail ride the bike will be dropped so the exhaust bending issue made me a bit worried (I know you can get a fix for it).
    Also an amazing bike
    Went for the norden 901 sadly the test bike was not available for aome time.
    Bmw 850 was in the shop to be serviced because some sensor issues...
    Africa twin DCT was just awful and my girlfriend heated her passenger seat experience.
    No Tiger 900...
    Multistrada v2 was just amazing but to expensive.
    And the last one was the DesertX, the one that I actually purchased.
    It has the best road experience hands down, on trails the 660 is better because the position of the fuel tank.
    I did not choose this bike because I can easily afford it, it was just dumb luck that I had the money for it.
    I chose it because I felt more confident on it than on any other bike and I said to myself that this is once in a lifetime occasion to splurge.
    It's not the best bike out there but it is for me at this point, and yes, it's an expensive bike that gets very hot (at least it's evenly hot)... But I love that you can change it from 100hp to 70hp, I love the retro look (also the V-strom's square headlight is making me horny), the engine that feels like a tractor and the quality, the only thing I am really missing are tire pressure sensors.
    The riding modes are just fine, interface and rturn by turn nav is not something to write home about.
    If I end up selling it at some point my next purchase would be a Tenere660 with ABS and an old 1150GS for touring with my girlfriend.
    I love all the adventure bikes, this one just happened to be the best fit at this exact moment.
    Ride safe!

    Just bought a tuareg and love it too. Noticed according to the display being blue means you were in urban mode which has the subdued engine map, try using the explore map as your default ( green ) color. It should wake up the performance.

    I purchased my 2024 Tuareg last month. Love it!! I immediately changed the windscreen with the Puig Touring Windscreen and the extra 5" made a huge difference (insert office joke here). Performing the 600 mile oil change this week, looking forward to hitting the higher rpm's. I am going to prep it for the Colorado BDR so skid plate and crash bars are next. Of course the bags and other accessories are in order to prepare for the trip What type of GPS are you using? I have not reviewed any of your other videos yet. Your laughing at the end of the video sounds like me in the N. GA Mtns through the twisties, this bike is a lot of fun.

    I belive Explore mode has the most power:
    Urban mode is ideal for easy riding and provides maximum safety intervention. Explore mode is the Tuareg's 'sport mode', so you can expect enhanced power delivery through a sporty and almost instant throttle response - perfect for more aggressive riding. Off-Road mode equals usable power with minimum traction control and rear ABS disabled. Individual mode lets the rider decide all major settings.

    • @Mike.A.Hernandez
      @Mike.A.Hernandez  Месяц назад +1

      Agreed, I ran out of camera battery while filming the other drive modes. Wonder if it would be worth it to do a vid on just the drive modes?

    • @arnoldgrabski6436
      @arnoldgrabski6436 6 дней назад

      The explore mode actually isn't the most aggressive throttle map. You have to adjust the settings on the individual map for most aggressive settings. Explore has the middle setting for engine braking and 2nd most aggressive throttle map.
      I have individual mode on my 24 set up with the most aggressive engine braking and throttle map. It's really twitch in traffic on that setting, but tons of fun in the Twisties

    I’m only 5’8” and the T7 is too tall and top heavy for me. I have an 890 Adventure but don’t like the riding position which is “sporty” and cramped. The 660 looks way better for my needs. I’ve seen very few bad reviews on the 660 other than odd niggles.
