OMG 😲 I out of the blue I had thought of Sam Harris remember back to the 80s! I hope and pray 🙏 you are doing well my friend. Thank you for staying in my mind! Peace ✌️ ☮️ and praise! Adrian
My wife thinks I'm nuts...it's official. She walked in as I "was being taken to church" by this song; she hasn't yet "felt" a song, but it's building up in her. Anyway, Sam, you took me to church...hands in the air - swaying side to side, crying through a smile. Let me know when you're next sermon is...I'll be there.
Hi Sam, I can remember back in the day watching you on Star Search. To this day (I'm 51) I can say NO ONE can sing Over The Rainbow like you. So happy to see you still belting out songs. Thanks a million, Lisa
What one person calls bad habits another calls personalization. Anyone who watched him on Star Search wouldn't want Sam to perform any other way. That is the natural, all over the place, belt it out like it can't be kept inside Sam; not some rigid, hands by the sides lipsyncer. Thank you, Sam. I can now feel like I'm alive today
If people have a problem with the way Sam moved ( all over the place ), then those same people should have a problem with Joe Cocker as well....and Joe was outstanding.
Why isn't this guy a total superstar? Seriously. If he had been on Idol instead of Star Search, he'd be all over the charts. He's astonishingly talented.
I had forgotten he was from Oklahoma! I remember as a teenager watching every week to hear Sam sing, and so excited to see him win! I'm pretty sure he came and preformed at our high school right around the star search days!
I used to watch Star Search when I was a little girl and Sam Harris and Linda Eder were my two favorite contestants! I've had the opportunity to see Linda live in concert. I haven't had that privilege with Sam yet but my, my, my does he still have it!!! I Still get chills listening to him. Glad to know that he continues to do what he loves and wows audiences all over.
watched sam perform over the rainbow on star search back in 86, became a favorite with my daughter and I we sang it often. it made her love music and become classicially trained . thank you Sam Harris. would love to see you perform again as you have such a wonderful instrument
I came to this video because someone said the kid that won season 9 of the voice was the best since Sam Harris. Omg flashbacks of Star Search, I loved you on that show!! Glad your still enjoying singing and you look and sound fantastic!!
Try to listen to Bruno Pelletier 's music,he sings mostly French but also in English and sometimes in Italian or Spanish listen to Miserere, this song is fantastic.
Nah. There was a guy named Von Smith who came around in season 2 who is literally a carbon copy of Sam. They’ve sung together a few times since. Adam Lambert is musical theatre but way more rock chops vocally. ruclips.net/video/e-03V2KTTU8/видео.html
I remember watching him on star search, never missed one of sams performances, that man is fine! It does my heart good to see his family pics, they look so happy, their little boy is adorable.
Sam is from my hometown. He's a local celebrity around here. We're good friends with his parents and we got to go back stage at The Producers on Broadway when he was in that show. Sam is a class act. So kind and friendly.
I watched Star Search every week with my late Grams and each week Sam was on she prayed he would win. His voice and the control he has has aged well over the years. Such a moving renditions of one of the harder songs to sing. You either get it right or you ain't got it when it comes to this son.
Huge fan of Sam the best version of this song he knocks it out of the ballpark I own everything he's recorded since his first album in 1984 up until the present I highly recommend his biography ham slices of life it's amazing
Wow, goggled Sam because I just finished his book, Ham, slices of life, and I had never heard of him. I am now a fan, over a 2 octave range, fantastic. His book is hilarious and uplifting, this is quite a guy, a great read.
I agree!!! Sam I think some miss managed you after Star Search. I still have your very first album. You no only can still belt it out, your high range is still immaculate and to me your lower range has gotten stronger. My husband and I are both fans. We just moved to Chicago area last year and would love to know if you will be entertaining around here in the near future. I know your priorities have probably changed being a daddy now but hope you won't s
Sam Harris is wonderful, but the goddess the queen who male this song The Best in my opinion is Patti LaBelle. Patty is simply phenomenal. Sam does a great version especially for a guy the Patti LaBelle is a legend.
Sams got a good singing voice but his voice is considered tinie. It lacks the base and depth that the Industry would want in a good voice. His voice is good for plays but when he hits the high notes he starts to sound very thin and That's why hes not famous. His voice couldn't sell as many records as the Industry would expect.
Not a good performance at all! He is acting like a singer but he isn't really portraying a good singer. Its like watching an actor on a stage play acting out a part but it isn't really that person ! You can always see the difference between Artists and Performers. Sam is a Performer.
He as my favorite winner on Star Search. Still love him. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
OMG 😲 I out of the blue I had thought of Sam Harris remember back to the 80s! I hope and pray 🙏 you are doing well my friend. Thank you for staying in my mind! Peace ✌️ ☮️ and praise! Adrian
I remember him too...how could you not?!
Love his vocals. So dynamic and exciting!
My wife thinks I'm nuts...it's official. She walked in as I "was being taken to church" by this song; she hasn't yet "felt" a song, but it's building up in her. Hi Sam,
I can remember back in the day watching you on Star Search. To this day (I'm 51) I can say NO ONE can sing Over The Rainbow like you. So happy to see you still belting out songs.

Lisa
Love this version!!!! Love his voice and the piano player!!!
Fantastic job Sam. Your voice is so strong and pure in the upper register. Thank you.
I remember Sam from Star Search. He blew my mind every time. Standing ovation to Sam!!
In my opinion, the finest singer in the world.
I agree. His version of the bells is extraordinary

Rolling Stone said SH has one of the best voices of all time.
Why isn't this guy a total superstar? Seriously. If he had been on Idol instead of Star Search, he'd be all over the charts. He's astonishingly talented.
To see Sam live is one of life's most memorable entertainment experiences. And Todd his pianist is amazing.
I had forgotten he was from Oklahoma! I remember as a teenager watching every week to hear Sam sing, and so excited to see him win! I'm pretty sure he came and preformed at our high school right around the star search days!

Awesome voice as ever! I've been a fan since the Star Search days. Has all his albums. Great inspiration for my vocal style.
There is not another who can belt out that song that emotional and powerful.I dare you to find one
I came to this video because someone said the kid that won season 9 of the voice was the best since Sam Harris. Omg flashbacks of Star Search, I loved you on that show!! Glad your still enjoying singing and you look and sound fantastic!!

Still fine! MMM. I still listen to the first album from '84. Best Voice ever! He should be a guest coach on The Voice.
I agree with you
Patricia Harris me too.....

Patricia Harris yes a coach
Try to listen to Bruno Pelletier 's music,he sings mostly French but also in English and sometimes in Italian or Spanish listen to Miserere, this song is fantastic.
No words can describe how utterly fabulous this is
Reminds me of Adam Lambert. Such great voices and showmanship. The talent is incredible regardless of decade. Talent stands on its own.

The best version of this song live, is song by Paul Simon, Luther Vandross, and Jennifer Holiday.
Have ALWAYS been a fan!!

LOL Sami Harris has not stop performing...he tours here, there, everywhere.
sweet
You rock 👌🏾
very good song he can sing
Without knowing this was for a TV show, it's funny to hear that one lone guy in the back say "Woo!"
This was 2006....Star Search 1984...
omgggggggggggggggggggg
Wasn't he on Star search back in 1984
He was the white Male Patti Labelle!!!
REPRESENT OKLAHOMIE!!!! 😍😍😍
Notice there is no audience applause at the end of this performance!
It's on a TV set. There "was" no audience.
Damn onions
Sam Harris is wonderful, but the goddess the queen who male this song The Best in my opinion is Patti LaBelle. Patty is simply phenomenal. Sam does a great version especially for a guy the Patti LaBelle is a legend.
forget his singing, does anyone know how hard it is to keep your weight down at his age? Good for him.
What a shallow, stupid comment.
Love this guy, the way he builds on the song. Didn't particularly care for this arrangement though.
bridge hover troubled water
yes i will
Do he look like Neil Patrick harris?
He does, I thought the same thing!

Clay Aiken did a much better rendition, not so over the top.
he has a very good voice but too many bad habits.. it´s distracting
What one person calls bad habits another calls personalization. Anyone who watched him on Star Search wouldn't want Sam to perform any other way. That is the natural, all over the place, belt it out like it can't be kept inside Sam; not some rigid, hands by the sides lipsyncer.

HRH Kashogghi THE DUMBEST COMMENT EVER, PERIOD!
Stop performing all together.
