- What are the best ways for Christians and Mormon Missionaries to interact? How can Christians be prepared to respond to the Mormon Missionary Message if they're ignorant of LDS beliefs and teachings? In this video, we interview Ross Anderson and Corey Miller to hear their thoughts on how Christians can helpfully engage LDS.
Pastor Ross Anderson and Dr. Corey Miller just released a book which discusses how to respond to the Mormon Missionary Message. The book is written by former Latter-day Saints who are now evangelical Christians-most of whom are former Mormon Missionaries. Each chapter walks through a different lesson from the LDS Missionary manual "Preach My Gospel" in order to help equip Christians to talk with these young Mormons.

Christians should "always [be] prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you" (1 Peter 3:15). For those who want to evangelize Mormons, understanding Mormon beliefs is incredibly helpful.

Would like to hear in a video more about their scripted response. I have had good conversations with them on the street, but then all of a sudden things go weird and they leave.

Thankful for those that patiently and lovingly try to reach these young LDS missionaries.
Best book I’ve ever read on witnessing to LDS! We’re having two missionaries for dinner and this has helped our preparation. Thankfully they’re “green” so it will be easier but still relying on the Holy Spirit to regenerate.
Appreciate the work that you guys do, dialogue is so important with the mormons since they just automatically entrench when they are confronted. It hits home for me since I grew up 20 yrs in Utah, and had to move away to believe in God again. I didn't think I would ever put faith in anything again.
That Mormons automatically entrench is certainly not true for most of the Mormons I know ;)

@@carbinewolf I am not sure if this is really changing, since I never experienced it any different within the church... I actually do believe thought that there is a big difference within the LDS church depending on where youi are living at.. In utah, many may take their faith for granted, just having been born into it.. But the mentality here in Europe is a bit different.. I, even as a missionary, always loved good and founded discussions, and I saw many being the same way.. but what may be right is that arguing over things is something many draw away from, since it mostly only proves that there are two side trying to prove their point, whiklst I would embrace any heated conversation if it was met with respect and mayby even the humility to learn from eachother..

How would you interpret 2 John 10-11 where he says “If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting. For whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works” should this be applied to Mormon missionaries since they are bringing a false gospel?
That's a great question - and one we've wrestled with.
My current thinking (could very well be wrong, and it warrants more thinking):
> Young Mormon Missionaries fulfilling a cultural/religious expectation aren't usually the same as more seasoned and wolfish false teachers
> That being said...they "do not bring this teaching" - and so there is a part of this that seems like it should apply.
> There should be a substantial "greeting" and show of hospitality between Christians ("do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith" - Gal. 6:10). Paul OFTEN begins letters with special greetings only given to Christians ("Grace & Peace"/"Holy Kiss")
> There SHOULD be a way that our greeting and hospitality differs between other Christians and unbelievers generally...and then especially with false teachers/Mormon Missionaries.
> I take "receive him into you house" to be a substantial act of hospitality. Supporting their ministry, encouraging their teaching, footing the bill, feeding them, etc. We should NOT do those things...but ARE allowed to offer general kindnesses.
> Jesus ate w/ the "sinners" of the day. We have to balance these two truths - no judgment from me on people who land in a different spot!
I may ask some of the others from the GLM team to weigh in, I think we may all have slightly different takes on this.
@@GLM Thank you for your response, And that makes sense. I can see how that could mean not giving them the same greeting or hospitality that you would show to fellow Christian.
That makes me wonder if referring to them as “Elder” or “Sister” so and so would be wrong since you giving them a biblical title of someone in the family of God.
I like what you said about being allowed to offer them general kindnesses. As much as I want to love on them and be a blessing to them, I certainly don’t want to compromise the word of God either. Google Mormon doctrine vs Christian doctrine. You'll see the LDS have scripture together better than the other churches. How do you explain this greater knowledge possessed by the Latter Day Saints?

That sounds like a question an atheist would ask. The Bible is lacking in evidence as well. You can't prove any of the miracles in either the Old or New Testament happened.
So you have two guys on here who left the LDS church before they even served missions, and now they are somehow authorities on how to "rebuttle" missionaries? Bradley Campbell can't be taken seriously, just look at his track record. Don't listen to these guys, do your own research.
A couple thoughts -
> They edited the book - the bulk of which WAS written by former missionaries (and which goes through the lessons in Preach My Gospel - the official guide for LDS Missionary work).
> You don't have to be a former missionary to know how to interact with missionaries. None of what they said in this episode was how to "rebuttal" missionaries-but rather how to most helpfully interact with them.

@@bradleycampbell4552 you and Apologia's debunking of our articles of faith, especially the last three. Ones we should all be able to agree on. This is why I and other Latter-Day Saints aren't being convinced by your evangelism.
Also, if you have returned missionaries who joined "real" Christianity, why not have them on as well? These guys left the church in high school and after high school. An age where everyone kind of goes through the motions of things. It didn't seem like either of them were strongly convicted before they became "Christian."

FWIW - we brought Corey & Ross on because of their new book. Having some former Latter-day Saints who became Christians a bit later in life is a good idea! @@bradleycampbell4552 okay, that's good to know. I appreciate that you responded to me and I respect your convictions. It is the same reason why I served my mission (been home for almost a year now.) I am not going to pretend there aren't differences in what we believe, and there are honest conversations to have about those. I hope as we have these discussions that we can learn to become more charitable towards each other despite our disagreeing doctrines. May God continue to bless you and your family.
They are making this book because they love you and want you to know Jesus and be saved. Obviously only God can change your heart, but just know Christians take time out of their lives to reach Mormons because they care for you.
It’s so difficult to talk to them. They are so annoying.
