  • Hello and welcome to Steel Picking! In this video, I show how to play bar only licks. As the title implies, these are great for those of you who do not have any pedals or levers added to your guitar, but want to play with new licks that can be achieved without pedals or levers. These have different applications, and I hope that they will help to improve your playing!

    Thanks Aaron. I always love it when I do a search for a pedal steel topic and end up with one of your videos.

    • @jaycoover

      BTW - what does that pedal to the left of your A pedal do?

    • @SteelPicking
      @SteelPicking  5 лет назад

      Jay, that is the zero or Franklin pedal. It lowers both B,s 5 and 10 a whole tone to A. I have a video showing my set up if you would like to check it out.

    I appreciate this video Aaron and I can't wait to try out the examples you have shown. I don't have a lot of changes on my guitar so this will be very helpful in getting more music out of it!

    • @SteelPicking
      @SteelPicking  6 лет назад

      Ray, thanks so much. There is a lot of music on our guitars and you do not always have to have 10 knee and 10 pedals to get it. Just listen to Lloyd Green or look at his career and all of the great things he has done on a 3x4 guitar.
      Thanks again! Aaron

      No problem; glad that it helped! This is something that dobro players utilize which can be helpful to know as a pedal steel player. It gives you a different sound versus the slurs from the pedals. It's also great for learning the fretboard.
      Thanks and keep picking!

      Harold, yes close to the guitar in that they are based on a number system.
      Thanks. Aaron
