Hey Daylon, I'm trying to use my Sigma 18-35mm lens with my ZWO294mc pro camera to shoot the meteor showers coming up. (I typically only do deep sky shooting.) I want to affix the above to my Skywatcher EQ-6 mount and use the Plan mode in my ASIAIR to shoot in the early morning hours. The problem is I'm not sure I have all the right connector parts and adapters. I have a metal plate that I can attach to the EQ mount and I have a filter wheel that will attach to my lens BUT 1) I can't find the right attachments for coupling the lens assembly to my 294 and 2) I don't know how to attach the whole assembly to the plate. Can you advise? Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the topic. I have the Asi 178mm, Canon eos 800D, asiair version 1, and asiair pro. I can corroborate your findings. I upgraded all three of my Version 1 SD cards, and two of my pro SD cards with the latest firmware. I was pleased to see video mode and plan mode on the pro with the 178 camera, only plan mode on the 800D. I was trying to image the blood moon a couple weeks ago and actually used video mode to take a few minutes of the full moon. It took a few minutes to get used to the finger touch slide bars for exposure and gain, but was able to capture the videos. Huge files. Thanks for these tips. Leo
Many thanks ! I was trying to achieve a video with my canon 100D and could not find any way of doing it, I looked for it onlin and found nothing relates to this issue but your video, so glad you took the time for this test otherwise I would have gone mad thinking it does not work only for me haha
Yeah it's camera dependent as to which camera can use it. Bummer, but true. It would be nice if DSLR's could have the video drivers added to the ASI AIR, but I don't think they want to do that.
Great vid! BTW, ASIAir+ tells me to power the mount (Atlas AZ/EQ-G Pro connected w/ EQMOD cable) before powering up the Air+. Don't know if that makes a difference with other connection methods. I've only used the Air+ for 2 nights but am amazed at what a no-talent newbie like myself can accomplish with it by accident!
im stuck with cloudy skies for now and its preventing me from experimenting with the video mode of my AAPlus. the field of view appears to zoom if you change the frame setting. if your field of view at 1080 is the full moon could you get a full field of view of Jupiter by lowering the frame from 1080 to 480 ? im looking forward to playing with the difference in FOV that the various frame settings create.
No, it won't change much. If anything, it will make things blurrier. You would still need a large focal length scope to get a nice, zoomed in view of Jupiter.
@@AstroEscape thankyou.. that was what i was afraid of.. LOL i have got to get a AAPlus on my Celestron 8se 2000mm FL.. have you noticed how the AAPlus is on back order at alot of dealers ?
@@TexasRangersWSChamps I have not noticed, but I'm also not surprised. It's a great device! I see ZWO ramping up production a tad in the future to handle demand!
@@AstroEscape it was finally clear last night so i took a shot at using the video mode... problem; i was not able to get a clear view of the moon on my ipad asi app. i had started with using a bahtinov mask on Vega in focus mode..the stars were sharp. attempts to get a clear focus in video mode by adjusting gain and exp failed.. im going to try to focus in video mode on a distant target during the day this weekend. Video mode is eating my lunch. LOL
When I click on Video on my Asiair Plus and then the red record button, I see no video to focus, center or live stack for planetary imaging. Also, do not see a video in the file management video folder. So how does one use video? Do you have a tutorial for using video on the Asiair?
I do not have a tutorial for video mode yet. It is one of the things I am planning on. It should show up in the video folder in either the flash drive or the eMMC storage. It should work like Autorun where it saves to a folder with the target's name/catalog number as the main folder under video.
@@AstroEscape Thanks for your help. I later learned that you can only live stack video if you save the file as an AVI and not MP4 (which I did),. The AVI video files are saved to storage in the AA+, but MP4 files are not and are found in ones video folder on the tablet or smartphone. There is much for me to learn regarding the Asiair Plus and its video function.
So, I'm still waiting for my guide camera to start testing things out, but here's a thought: what happens if you turn the camera on in video mode? Does the ASIAir pro detect it then? Thanks for the videos... I appreciate your hard work and thoughtfulness!
By camera, do you mean DSLR or ZWO camera? If it's a DSLR, it more than likely will detect it, but it won't show anything. Haven't gotten to test, the smoke across North America is nasty :(
@@AstroEscape yes I meant the DSLR. Was hoping to use the guide scope tonight, but still hasn’t been delivered. :(. Did get some viewing in tonight-I think some good images of Jupiter, but won’t know until I get back.
Hey, I’m new to the asi 183mm pro and the asiair pro. The first two days of using them the video mode worked perfectly, but now every time I try to use it, it just goes completely black. It saves the video and everything but it is just a dark screen. I will try the trouble shooting. Thanks for the video
@@AstroEscape no, even at the beginning of the session I took a video of a tree in daytime, but then at night it no longer worked. Maybe I changed some setting by accident
Hehehe I had a club member give me some guff about that recently. I pronounced it like that in front of them at NEAF this weekend, they didn't correct me so I guess it's ok?
I don't think so. It should save to the flash drive that comes with it (or if you replaced it with another, that one). At this point I haven't recorded with it actually (I will later this year when the gas giants are visible earlier at night), but with images, it only saves to the flash drive except in cases of DSLR's where you tell it to save to the DSLR, which in the video we found out that DSLR's can't do video mode in the AIR.

Very nice. I'm glad someone saw the same things. I hope, too, that the troubleshooting tips help someone in the future as well!
I haven't got the Air but good to have these resources for future troubleshooting, it's usually the small things that take hours to find. Nice video.
Thanks Ollie! As we find more out about the Air over time, and they put in more updates, I hope to help by creating some good troubleshooting steps :)

Can I use auto guiding asi 120 mini for polar alignment
Theoretically, yes. But it would be better to use your main camera.

Why are you playing the BUMP BUMP BUMP so loud during your presentation?
Are you speaking of the music or one of my sound effects? I'll make sure I balance both better next video :)
