So I’ve been doing this for a couple of years now and I could never get it just right. I came across your video and I can finally say “this did it for me!” When I unwrapped my cup I was like WOW! Thank you very much for this and I love JPP.
We love this series of sublimating. Neither of us have seen anything like it. We are blown away by what you did with a convection oven. Looks fantastic!!
Just found your channel and haven't had a chance to scroll through everything, but i'd love to see if you'll have done something similar to this on like those Aluminum hydro flasks that are shaped like a Coke bottle. The print on demand places that I've seen will only print in a small area where it's flat do you know of a way to print on the tapered areas?
Another question, have you all done this on something like a Nalgene those lexanne water bottles, If not a full graphic like this just something like a large logo that takes up half the bottle?
Hey! Many of the popular water bottles have sublimation dupes out there that you could do that on. JPPlus has tons of styles, so you should definitely check there. And if you use code JustMightDIY23, you’ll get 10% off your order since we’re an affiliate of theirs. 😉
Me Again :) Binging y'all videos and so happy to find someone who uses photoshop -- I creep, screenshot, and zoomed in on your photoshop settings :D In one video you print settings for photoshop were "Printer managers colors, printer profile, Relative Colorimetric," In another video I noted you all have "Photoshop Managers Color, (I think the printer profile was set below this?), Saturation. Can you please advise what photoshop settings you use, I've used so many supplies testing different settings. Also, do you alter any of color adjustments in the actual "print settings" for the printer? Hoping to get more vibrant colors like yall. Thanks!!! lastly, any shrink wraps you all recommend that are available on amazon? I heard some of the ones on Amazon stick to the cups! Thanks again, your new fan! :)
Hey! All great questions. We haven't intentionally changed our Photoshop settings. We did do a big Photoshop update a few months ago (after we realized that the auto updates had turned off), but we do not use any color profiles. The only thing we play with is the Printer Settings - ensuring that we're printing on Best Quality and typically Premium Presentation Paper Matte (or its equivalent) depending on the printer model's associated print drivers. We'd highly recommend increasing the saturation, vibrancy, etc. of the image before you print to see if you can get it to come out the way you like. Also, to avoid wasting so many sublimation blanks, grab some cheap 100% polyester fabric to test on and use small designs so you can get multiple tests out of one piece of paper (we will cut ours down and do custom print sizes if we're printing on a partial sheet). As for your shrink wrap question, we get ours from Johnson Plastics Plus, so we haven't tried any from Amazon. However, even the ones we get will stick to the cups. Make sure you're covering the entire cup where the wrap will be with butch paper, and you can avoid that problem. Hope this helps!
This is awesome! If you don’t have a full wrap and just need a logo etc, do you still need a full shrink wrap sleeve? In other words, could the logo sub be placed on the tumbler and position the tumbler in the oven horizontally with the graphic facing up and let gravity do its thing? Or is pressure required?
Hey! Pressure is essential for sublimation. You could use a lot of tape instead though. Remember that if you use a shrink sleeve, to make sure that the entire area is covered with blowout paper so that the plastic does not touch the tumbler itself. Happy crafting!
Great video, I’ve done a few tumblers and when I try to do the Dallas cowboys, my gray keeps coming out green. I’ve wasted 5 tumblers trying different settings. Any ideas?
First thought is checking for color profile for your machine / sublimation ink combo. Second is double checking the image to make sure it's colors are correct. Third is knowing your heat application is truly to the correct temperature. Under temp may not finish activating the color and over can cook it. Try unsubbing the tumblers that aren't right and reuse them until it gets right ruclips.net/video/Mt51cZyIBio/видео.html Hope this helps!
@@JustMightDIY Thank you so much. I did follow a color chart when I set up my printer so I believe it's correct. When printed it looks right but when sublimated it's green instead of blue. I'll try turning up the heat for this specific tumbler and see if I can get it to work. Thanks so much!
Hello I have a NuWave Bravo XL, can that be used for Sublimation? Also do I have to set any settings like bake, toast, etc? I am a beginner and found one at a thrift store for 20.00. Once I get better, I can invest in something more hi end. Thanks
Hey! We’re not super familiar with that model but if it has a convection setting, then it *should* work, as that’s the setting you want to use. Hope this helps!
Hey there. Thanks for your question. That hasn’t happened to us, nor have we heard of that happening. Are you sure you’re using shrink wrap designed for sublimation?
Thank you so much I learned a lot from your video. What are your measurements, is their a special trick to pull it tight with just a few pieces of tape. I am new to sublimation tonight I came close with a fish tumbler But I taped one side down then the other so I had tape underneath my top layer. Thank you again.
Hey! Thanks for your question. Every tumbler brand can be a little different, so we recommend measuring the specific tumbler you’re working on. JPP has some templates you can download and use if you buy from them, though. Hope this helps!
Hey! You can lay those down if needed. We’ve done some larger items on their sides and it was just fine. Just turn them 180 half way through. Happy subbing!
Stainless steel is not going to pop the colors as much as the white sublimation blank. The one time we had this problem we didn't actually have a stainless designed for sublimation. Make sure your blank is made for sublimation
Hey there! We didn't buy the printer cart - we made it! A sheet of plywood, some IKEA Komplement drawers/tray, paint, and a few tools will get you there. Here's the video that shows the build: ruclips.net/video/TsrLcLEO8Ac/видео.html
Hey! We followed the template on JPP! The best practice is to measure each tumbler individually and/or use a provided template. Not all 20 ounce tumblers are the same - they will vary in size.
Hey! Yes - we've laid some items down on a rack before, Keep in mind that you'll want to flip them front to back and top to bottom for the most even heating. :)
Yes! Just make sure that you cover the entire cup with blowout paper if you’re using the shrink wrap method. You don’t want the shrink wrap adhering to your cup.
Hey! The general recommendation is to NOT sublimate in an oven that you cook food in, so it’s best to have a separate one. Make sure it has the convection setting, as that keeps the hot air moving! Hope this helps. 😄
Hey again! For the tumbler, we make sure to have butcher paper under all of the shrink wrap so it doesn’t get stuck to the cup. We’ve had very little issue with the wrap sticking to the grates in the oven - just a few spots here and there that don’t bother us.

Hello and thanks for your question! It probably depends on the hair dryer. You can get a decent heat gun for $20-$30, so that't honestly what we'd recommend.
Hey! Thanks for your question. We haven’t tried that, so we can’t say for sure. The common belief in the community is that you shouldn’t sublimate in something you cook food with though.
Hi there! Links to everything we use, including the thermometers, are in the description. We use two in our oven - one in the front and one in the back since the temps can vary significantly. Hope this helps!
Hey! We feel like the results are comparable between the two. The tumbler press is definitely much quicker than a convection oven for tumblers and straight sided drink ware. That being said, the convection oven has the benefit of being able to sublimate a wider range of items (curved cups, smaller drinkware, etc.). They each serve their purpose for sure. Hope this helps!
Hey! It depends on the tumbler, as it seems that they’re all a little different. This shimmer tumbler has a slight taper to it. I burnt the hell out of my tumbler using the temperature you guys used, and the time that you guys suggested 😬
Hey! Do you have thermometers inside your oven to be sure the set temperature is correct?
Try little snips at the bottom (like you do with sewing a curved area) to help the paper lay flatter to get a better sub at the bottom
Thanks for watching and for the tip! That may work for some designs, but not all. We'll definitely give it a try with the right one though.
Good work on your videos. Why did you use the tapered print and not just a straight print? Thank You
Hey! This tumbler is evvvvvvver so slightly tapered. 😉

Do you have to use shrink wrap baking in convection
There are other ways to get the needed pressure (some tape the whole thing, some use reusable silicone wraps). Shrink wrap is just what we prefer.
I am using a convection oven/ air fryer should I put the setting to convection or bake

Can you put more than one tumbler in at a time.
Yes! We’ve heard of many people sublimating multiples. Just know that you may need to adjust your time to account for the additional tumblers.
Thai may be a dumb question. Did you use the ink that came with the printer or sublimation ink?
Hey! Thanks for your question! We used sublimation ink. 😄

Hey! We followed the template on JPP! The best practice is to measure each tumbler individually and/or use a provided template. Not all 20 ounce tumblers are the same - they will vary in size.
Can they lay down sideways on a rack or no?
Hey! Yes - we've laid some items down on a rack before, Keep in mind that you'll want to flip them front to back and top to bottom for the most even heating. :)
Can you do this if the image is small and you aren’t wanting to do the entire cup?
Yes! Just make sure that you cover the entire cup with blowout paper if you’re using the shrink wrap method. You don’t want the shrink wrap adhering to your cup.
Can u do this in your regular oven in the kitchen or do we need a small convection one like this?
Hey! The general recommendation is to NOT sublimate in an oven that you cook food in, so it’s best to have a separate one. Make sure it has the convection setting, as that keeps the hot air moving! Hope this helps. 😄
How do you keep the shrink wrap from sticking to the bottom of the oven or to the cup?

Are these sublimation tumblers? Or are they just regular shimmer tumblers?
Hi! These are shimmer sublimation tumblers. 😉
When I use this method, the ice in the tumbler does not last long anymore. Any tips on that?
Hey! We’ve never had that happen or heard of it happening, so we’re not able to assist with this unfortunately. Good luck!
