Acrylics are far more challenging than oils given the rapid drying time . Excellent Alex, you have achieved an oil painti g look with a medium that many artists shy away from . I started with a acrylics then moved onto oils. If you can master acrylics, oils are a synch!
Why did I just find you?! This has been the best explanation on this platform to date! I thought it was an oil painting can't believe its acrylic. Absolutely beautiful work and tribute to your beautiful Stella.
Best video ever with the open acrylics!! Thank you so much for sharing! I’m watching all your other videos now! I’m working with the open acrylics and have also the thinner. But used it with water. With my next painting I will only use the thinner, what you recommended! I’ve subscribed on your channel and you definitely deserve more followers!!
@@alexhess_artist I come back so often to watch your videos, especially the old masters, so inspiring! And my love for the golden open acrylics ☺️ I have one question, what pen or ink do you use to ink in your drawing?
Beautiful work Alex! Early on you mentioned "lifting out the highlights" but it looked like that was after you hit it with the hairdryer. So, just wondering how you lifted out the highlights with acrylics after it has dried? Thanks.
I am going to make a video soon about the best way to prepare the wood before sanding. The wood was gessoed, sanded, and also used a moulding paste to thicken the gesso. I always find it important just because I prefer to build texture instead of have heavy texture to start. Hope this helped! Thank you 👍🏻
Very very
16:03 nice , I am presently painting a golden for a friend .I will be watching your video again as inspiration. Thx
