I don't know if you go into this later in the video I'm writing this as I see this but theres a bit of a misconception at 4:40 The smoky progg is not classified as a normal enemy in the mod, I've played through this mod numerous times and never once did the smoky progg replace a normal enemy like the armored cannon beetle, snagret, and puffstool did. It is in the same category as the goolix, bulblax, and long legs. It can only spawn in place of other bosses, now I believe the mod classifies bosses as where the boss spawns rather then what enemy, despite the mamuta puffstool snagret and cannon beetles being considered as normal enemies, their respective areas have where they usually spawn replaced. The puffstool snagret and cannon beetle are unique in this since in this mod they are both classified as big enemies like bulborbs and also bosses like the long legs and goolix, meaning they'll spawn in both a boss location and where a normal enemy does what likely happened in the clip before is that the smoky progg replaced one of the snagrets but it likely got stuck because the bramble gate was in the way and it couldn't properly pathfind a way to the onion, so it most likely got stuck up where the snagrets usually spawn and sat around twiddiling its thumbs until the gate was open and it could enter
The way the mod determines what is a small enemy, big enemy, or boss is based on what enemy was originally there. Beady Long Legs, (both) Snagrets, Goolix, Emperor Bulblax, Mamuta, Puffstool, and Armored Cannon Beetle are the "inputs" that can create boss encounters. The part that may have been confusing was I took some liberties to increase enemy variety by putting enemies considered bosses by players into the "output" of the big enemy locations, such as Puffstool, Armored Cannon Beetle, Mamuta, and Snagret. But yes, Smoky Progg is not generated from big enemy locations, the Forest of Hope is just really likely to spawn one because there are four(!) boss encounter spots: the three Snagrets and the Armored Cannon Beetle.

Brother of the dev here. I asked him why he made Smoky Progg a large enemy spawn, and he said he didn't. You just got unlucky with your boss spawns. His comment about Smoky Progg eggs can clarified by saying that they don't spawn Smoky Proggs. They spawn a randomized enemy when hatched. I had no hand in development besides a Russian nesting doll thought experiment involving a chain of entities that spawn other entities which will inevitably lead to the game crashing. This is why that is not a feature of the randomizer for obvious reasons.
It's actually crazy how much stuff got nerfed in later entries. The punch is useless, the emperor bulblax was a death sentence for deathless runs in pikmin 1 but a complete pushover in 2, smokey progg is an enemy most people specifically try to avoid but in 4 they seem a lot more like fan service that never saw play testing, the same thing goes for the water wraith, and all the bulborbs are easy to deal with in 3 because of the eye stun. Pikmin 4 also reduced the pikmin killing power of enemies and added in the time travel thing so it is literally near impossible to actually feel anything when pikmin die in 4. Plus they removed puffmin in Pikmin 4. This is a cardinal sin and absolute disrespectful to every single puffstool and puffmin enjoyer.

Doing vanilla Pikmin 1 deathless is horrible lol. Idk how many times I had to reset a day cuz a Pikmin tripped in front of an enemy and got themselves eaten.
It's curious but the 3 enemies that are the hardest to deal with in a Pikmin 1 deathless are the Emperor Bulblax, Male Sheargrubs and Shearwigs. Male Sheargrubs are better dealt with punches.
18:41 if goolix spawns here your speedrun is DEAD btw. It's so difficult to get around him. I've found that you can throw a pikmin into the water and drown them and if done correctly goolix will fall into the water chasing after them and you can get this part "safetly." You can actually see that your goolix almost went in after the drowning yellows. Best case scenario in a speedrun though is that a progg carries the part to your base and you never even have to go up there 30:11 CLASSIC 30:58 the silent pause had me dying. Yellows all share 1 brain cell and none of them get a turn 32:30 when gluon and other fat parts break because they're not supposed to be in certain spots it helps to off-camera it. deloading a part can help it move through those tight squeezes 35:00 Curious. Are you playing on 2.0 or 2.3? Smokey on 2.0 should walk to your base after the gate falls. But on 2.3 he should be completely immobile because he can't find the path back home. Never seen him glitch out like that

This video was amazing glad you enjoyed playing the randomizer and I enjoyed watching you play the randomizer. Can't wait to see what video is next! I did not expect the ship parts to be the things that killed some runs but they did it's kind of funny to see how glitchy and chaotic Pikmin 1 is. Also watching the Puffstool get absolutely destroyed it a few seconds makes me quite sad it should be a strong boss but no it's a complete joke I'm not even kidding when I say this but even trying to lose the fight is difficult I had a relative play through Pikmin 1 for the first time and it was there first ever experience of Pikmin (they had played Pikmin bloom before but that is a completely different game) and they took the puff stool down in 1 cycle (they were still figuring out the game and the controls). I can't say enough how much I love these videos there always enjoyable funny and sometimes interesting I love all your videos and it is extremely exiting to see a new video has been uploaded by you.
as i understand it, breadbugs can actually kill pikmin; if they haul an item back that has pikmin on it- but notably NOT ENOUGH to pull it to your base- then when the breadbug pockets the item the pikmin get pulled in and die

honestly your kaizo video was a blast to watch i do hope one day you can look in to New Year Kaizo Edition and see if you like it its a completely different feel when it comes to kaizo while i molded the difficulty after kaizo i also threw in various lands of torture aspects as well along with my own tricks and tom foolery i also recently updated it and fixed the purple and white pikmin crashing the 2 over worlds perplexing pool and valley of repose other then that if you want a raw brutal difficulty experience i highly recommend giving it a try! because let me say this the later caves DO NOT HOLD BACK!!! either way love your vidoes!
