I think why people are saying they don’t eat the healthy tissue is because it’s an actual procedure that exists for debridement of dead/diseased tissue and in that environment, the maggots aren’t afforded the opportunity of sticking around long enough to start attacking the healthy tissue because the doctor would have removed the maggots as soon as they finished with the diseased tissue. This scenario is completely different and obviously not nearly as sterile as the procedure I just mentioned is. I wish people would seek further clarification about things they don’t know a lot about instead of stating something they ‘heard’ as the absolute and ONLY truth
This is just so heartbreaking. Thank you for caring for this little human! No one should have to live like that. The relief the child felt as well as the parents I'm sure is amazing. Please update us on your patient if possible ❤️
I wonder where the family lived. It amazes me that the boys condition got to the point of maggots and the parents did nothing for a very long time. It must have been a third world country with little or no access to medical care.
@@thelmareeve3407 maggot infestation can happen incredibly quickly. Decades ago forensic scientists discovered the direct correlation between temperature and rate of development of the larvae. By the looks of the debris being removed from the child`s nose early on in the video (crusted pus), the larval parasite was attracted by a purulent inflammation of the mucoid membrane. Given that the footage was most likely shot in India, the culprit of the myiatic infestation was in all probability one of the two most malignant larval parasites that exist: *Chrysomya Bezziana* , also known as the Old World screwworm fly. Together with its western counterpart, the New World screwworm fly aka *Cochliomyia Hominivorax* , Chrysomya Bezziana is, at least in the southern Asian parts of its range, a scourge of humans, pets and livestock alike and poses a severe public health issue in an area encompassing India, Indochina and Indonesia, as does its New World counterpart in tropical South America (Brazil, Colombia etc.) as well as in parts of the Carribean whereas it was permanently eradicated from the North American and Meso-American parts of its former range by means of the so-called "sterile male insect technique" in a campaign that lasted from the mid-1950s to the early `80s.
Fascinating! He did mention it was green. And from a quick Google this does appear to be a green (or blue-ish green depending on your colour perception) fly, so odds are you're absolutely correct! The larva seem similar too, but then one maggot looks much like another to me! Thanks for the info, I found it very interesting. As my gran used to say, "You learn something new every day" so thank you for my new thing today!

@mohamedmadnia1907 I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm guessing it's because, at least here in America, the rules about patient privacy mean that very, very few doctors film *anything* regardless of what race the patient is, and, most of the cases involving some kind of "infestation" (like maggots or botflies, etc) happen in tropical or subtropical areas, which are *generally* populated with black and brown people

This was horrifying and very interesting. I have no experience with maggots in humans so I did not know they could destroy so much tissue and was that aggressive! I am so happy that you were able to help her so she can regain all her senses. This video is certainly something all doctors should watch, especially those that live in countries were this isn’t a thing but get tourists, immigrants etc from warmer countries.
All I could think of was the intense pain, agony, and over all suffering this baby was made to live with, so long it became this severe. Hope the children in this area can receive better care, soon.
Oh my gosh. I feel so bad for her! I would have felt like i was going crazy! I cant imagine what she felt before this procedure! I hope she feels much better and heals right up.
This is mind blowing stuff. That a CHILD or any person in this day and age can be afflicted with such a horrific disease is incredibly sad. I p until about 5 years ago I had never even heard of such a thing as this. I'd say 99.99 % of the people in my country are ignorant of it as well.
You’ve really never heard of something like this happening? There’s children and homeless people who are injured and don’t have access to medical care. There’s an infection and flies lay eggs and then the babies hatch 🐣
And the homeless and without any income get totally free healthcare in the USA. Just need application by sel or healthcare facility s.w. Whereas, it's the people who are struggling to make their paycheck stretch to pay their bills that can't afford healthcare. It's risen in costs so high here in the states that the citizens sometimes choose to forgo care.
Doctor, I absolutely enjoy watching and learning from your videos. I've always wanted to go into nursing but God made my path to be a caregiver to my chronicly sick husband of 27yrs who sadly passed away a few years ago at age 47. 😢 Between caring for his multiple amputations, trachea, g-tube, PICC lines, dialysis, diabetes , insulin, etc Ive learned a lot of medical knowledge without getting to study or go to school. In America, the nurses or Dr usually shows the patients family/ caregivers how to take care of their treatments and medical needs. They did to me. I also cared for my 85yr old mother during the same time as my dying husband plus 2 kids, a house, business and 4 dogs 😅 Ty for making such educational videos and explaining in simple terms for lay people. I truly pray this young child was able to recover without serious detriment to their health. ❤
Uve done wat many people don't. Sacrificing a part of ur life to care for ur loved ones.. and am sorry to hear about ur husband. Take good care of yourself. 👍
I like that you leave no stone unturned with your treatment. You thoroughly check each place to see that you have removed everything that needs removal.
Im HORRIFIED/ AMAZED/ and im relieved that theres Doctors out there who perform such a delicate procedure and do such an incredible job for these little ones . Im fully aware that theres certain medical issues for kids/adults that is rarely ever shown or that the rest world is aware off and this has to be one the most grotesque painful situations that anybody has been diagnosed with. And just want say what a wonderful job you did GOOD ON YOU DOCTOR 👏.
How could this happen? Why can’t they be blown out or flushed originally when nose infections or pain started? Is there medicine to fix before it gets so extreme? Glad my kids are grown. I would have freaked if this was my daughter or son.
❤ I HAVE A QUESTION? ON ANOTHER VIDEO . COMMENTS WAS TURNED OFF. YOU ALWAYS OPEN THE SINUS CAVITIES COMPLETELY. ALL THE WAY TO THE FRONT OF THE OPTIC NERVE. ISN'T THERE A DANGER OF AN INSECT FLYING OR CRAWLING IN THE SINUS ? THEN, THEIR IS NO SOFT TISSUE TO PREVENT THE INSECT OR DEBRIS FROM PENETRATING THE OPTIC CAVITY OR SKULL AREA.? .
What a wonderful job. How is she now I wonder? When I was younger Mt dad told me about a little girl who died in hus village. When they did an autopsy they found thread like worms in her brain 😢 So glad this was treated as I am sure this little girl would have had the same outcome. The feeling of them moving must have driven her mad! I hope she is fully recovered xx
I am so confused. At the beginning of the video those maggots seemed reachable without cutting her, but I didn't see you remove them. I wish I could see the full video. I'd love to see the final outcome.
@@jacquelinemorris1958 I think some of them were removable without cutting any tissue but some were buried deeper, and even some so deep he had to go through her throat to get them. He says at the end of the video he would use a turpentine pack inside her nose to draw any remaining maggots out of deep hiding spots and remove them.
My heart snapped. When you Pulled out the Maggots and I saw how big they actually were, and that they could get to other places and she could die…thank you🙏

I'm from Washington State, if that child showed up at any hospital or doctors office..the police would be called and the child would be taken away from the parents...immediately. The parents should have had this poor child at the hospital or doctor a long time previous to this...Unbelievable.. Truly unbelievable. This is NEGLECT.
This is heartbreaking!! I had no idea this could even happen! I hope this poor kiddo is sedated somehow bc I cannot imagine not freaking the he'll out about the pain and those nasty things. Thankfully this great doctor could help this poor child.
How on earth how and why would you allow a tiny girls nose to become so sore that it's riddled with maggots? poor baby my heart breaks for her. I am so glad she is at last under your care i know you will make her better. She deserves better parents than she has. I'll look after her. Wow this really hurts me deep down inside to see a precious little child having to go through this. you are a amazing Doctor.
I can understand the emotions it brings out, even in a total stranger, who doesn't know the circumstances of how this "freak" incident could have happened (all of us), but I don't think it's right to blame her parents, or assume they were neglectful in caring for her. Just my opinion tho. 🌞
@Happy New Year 2023 I feel ya. I've got 2 boys, 20 and 30, with special needs, still at home with me. And still do everything in my power to make sure they are both taken care of. The more I think about the little in this video, the more I agree with you. Howww could it have gotten that far 😔 I hope she heals well, and the memories of it will fade away. I pray she is so much better now, and her parents as well as I know that they must have been terrified to see this happen to their child. Great work Doctor! With love from, Texas.
Absolutely unbelievable surgery to help that little girl! I can't even imagine what she must have been going through to have that many maggots inside her nasal cavity - it must have been very frightening for her. You have done an incredible surgery to help her and save her from being eaten from the inside out. Is there a follow-up video to show how she is doing now. That would be wonderful to see - even if it was for a few minutes. Otherwise the viewers will wonder what happened - did she fully recover etc. It would be a good idea for all your videos because you obviously have follow up appointments. Amazing video and surgery and also the commentary really helped 👍xx

Thank you doctor for being able to help this child. Bless you and bless her and her family.
It’s not a disease. It’s an infection. Then obviously her parents didn’t care for her properly and flies laid maggots in her nose.
You are very good Doctor, methodical, caring, thorough and precise.

You are an amazing Doctor for helping this child out.

I like that you leave no stone unturned with your treatment. You thoroughly check each place to see that you have removed everything that needs removal.
👍🙏
Im HORRIFIED/ AMAZED/ and im relieved that theres Doctors out there who perform such a delicate procedure and do such an incredible job for these little ones . Im fully aware that theres certain medical issues for kids/adults that is rarely ever shown or that the rest world is aware off and this has to be one the most grotesque painful situations that anybody has been diagnosed with. And just want say what a wonderful job you did GOOD ON YOU DOCTOR 👏.
Human's body is so complicated. Doctors are god sent people. Thank you guys, so much
God created those animals and was his will to put them inside this little girl
These are maggots of flies and can be killed by turpentine oil, alcohol, boiling water but not too hot
How could this happen? Why can’t they be blown out or flushed originally when nose infections or pain started? Is there medicine to fix before it gets so extreme? Glad my kids are grown. I would have freaked if this was my daughter or son.

You show great empathy Hugs for you.
Bless you doctor and that baby.(wow)....
When they did an autopsy they found thread like worms in her brain 😢
So glad this was treated as I am sure this little girl would have had the same outcome.

Dr puede explicar xq despues de extraer los gusanos los vuelve a acercar a la nariz del paciente? Considero que es una falta de profesionalismo
My heart snapped. When you Pulled out the Maggots and I saw how big they actually were, and that they could get to other places and she could die…thank you🙏

God Bless you Doctor. We need people like you to get a professional degree and go out in the world and help those who can't help themselves. Thank you.
There must of been neglect as in the kid sleeping on floor or damp areas f this t happen; maggots don't crawl I u nose if u on bed etc
The size & number has blown me away, in such a small child it's heart breaking, it really is!! Bless you doctor + your team. UK

This Doctor is so amazing💐🏆🏆🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
@Happy New Year 2023 I feel ya.
My hubs lost the battle with cancer in September, so I'm holding onto my boys even tighter (even against their protests at times 😊) I appreciate your new year wishes. And Happy New Year to you as well. 🌞

Wow!!! The patient is going to need a lot of pain management 😪 it's amazing how instruments of today can get the maggots out.
