I'd never heard of this brand before today when I saw one at my local gun shop. I liked the way it looked and felt. I was impressed. Your video helped me decide to pick one up. It'll be my first 1911, and I'm excited about it and confident that I'll be buying a good quality gun. Thanks again for all the time you spend on making these videos for us. You're the best.
After watching your review I purchased one of the field grade models. I have to say the fit and finish is real good. It ran everything I put in it. I have to say I was a skeptic at first, but I now am sold on this gun. Charles Daly got it right with this one for sure!!
I have thousands of rounds through mine. I fit a high rise beaver tail, skeleton hammer, long reach trigger, upgraded all of the springs, and G10 grips. Very happy with it! I like seeing those proof marks on my guns. It means they have been tested in excess for pressures.
I bought a Charles Daly 1911 made by KBI in 2002, it is by far the most accurate gun I’ve ever shot and I own everything when it comes to handguns, when my friends ask what’s the most accurate gun in my stock, I always say my Charles Daly, they laugh until they shoot it
Just picked one up today, had one failure to eject from Winchester range rounds, but that happened once out of 50 rounds, love this gun already, and it's my first 1911!
The 8(+1) magazine capacity comes from extra width in the pst handle design or a magazzine trick/extension to fit an extra shot ? Would this very same magazzine fit on an 7-shot 1911 ?
This was my first gun and I absolutely love it I've already pushed about 800 rounds through her it feels great shoots great and just highly recommend!!
Bought one "used" but looked like it had never been fired for under 400. Ran about 100 rounds through it so far and love it. I did change the grimps to some black ones with a more aggressive pattern. Now it feels and looks much better IMO.
I just watched your excellent video because I am planning to buy one and I was looking for opinions. Thanks for the well presented info. To my European ears, the only strange remark is at 6:32 about the presence of the proof marks: I though it was a granted, not a nice to have. Without being proofed at the factory and then tested again in a state proofing facility or arsenal, no gun produced after 1890 can be sold legally (at least in Italy).
In Czech rep. too... But in murica? If it shoots it's good! ;) I found this gun today and I'm really impressed.. Good looking, good made 1911 for this price (12800 CZK)?! Nice!
Thank you for the tip. Just bought a Charles Daly 1911 a few weeks back. And was starting to look for extra magazines. I will be careful thank you again. jj
A bro real shit love your video 1000 likes I'm a black Male I'm 33 I'm getting ready to get one of these Legends 1911 plus I stay in a bad neighborhood
I'm not pleased with mine - first 50 rounds fired, stovepipes every round. Had to remove the extractor and re-adjust the tension to get proper shell extraction and removal. The hole for the upper grip bushing had its threads stripped out. Once I fixed the extractor, it fired reliably with all magazines except the one supplied with the gun - final round stovepipes each time. Go buy the Tisas instead.
I don't think there is any problem with a $400. 1911 shipped with one mag. Just bought a $1600. Kimber Rapide last month and it came with one mag, (as all Kimbers do). And to further insult you the mag they include is a Kimber mag. You would think at least they would make it a Wilson or Chip McCormick.
Looking for extra mag to fit this 1911 model in 9mm. I called the Charles Daly website. Girl says she "thinks" any will fit. I say ok but, you dont show any on your website and I'm finding Mec-Gar 9 round. Girl says "I don't think we sell any magazines for the 9mm". I says "Then why are you importing and selling them". Girl says "I'm not sure but I looked and we don't list them". I says "Yeah, I already looked. Thanks for the help." So, do the Mec-Gar 9 rounds work with the CD and do they protrude and interfere with the grip. I have one ordered but may not pick it up, just go ask for a refund and buy the Rock Island. I got a lot more help from them.
I have the .45 acp version and ran into the problem; even Wilson mags didn't seat properly. Mecgar and Ed Brown mags worked great though. Hope that helps, sorry just saw your comment
@@garyhighley9022 do you recall which specific model of Wilson mag? Soon as I saw your comment I dug it out and tried again, nope still doesn't work in mine

That lyman trigger gauge from brownells just stole the show!
Bought one few days ago . Love the pistol , Ya can't go wrong .
I like the Charles Daly. I found that magazines sold for the generic 1911 do not feed properly so be careful buying spares.
What mags do you buy for charles daly field grade .45 acp. You think I could use the 1911 colt .45 government mags or no
@@brucewayne3960 It took me a couple of tries to find the right mags. These are a bit longer than some of the other 1911.

I appreciate you showing the gun is unloaded and cleared. Always a good habit to do

Break in is usually more then a 100 rounds.
I'm suprised to hear of this Issue.
I have this gun.. I love it
Charles Daly or a Tisas? That's my question.
Can't really complain about a field grade 1911 selling for $499.
