The next challenge you’ll face in Skyward Sword is how to rescue your Loftwing bird. You'll find him trapped through a cave beside the waterfall and you’ll need to get down to him and then break the wooden beams holding him in place. There are some barrels next to it, which you can pick up, but these are a bit of a red herring. Anyway, you can follow along with the video to see how to break him out and complete the Loftwing rescue that will send you skyward.
