If I had given up on the DRZ400SM's seat height(I'm 5'7"), I would have been riding this bike. The CB500F is amazingly light, and perfect for commuting.
sorry to be offtopic but does someone know a trick to get back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot my login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me
Just bought one as my first bike and thus far I'm digging it...only difference from this one is I have an aftermarket exhaust. I don't like the look/sound of the stock.
Well done Mate.. I'm an ex-pat from Fairfield (many years ago before it went to the Hoon's) living on Vancouver Island and will be picking up my new CB500f in Candy Orange at the end of May. The missus gave me the "look" when you mentioned the pillion but she'll be right!
+Tom Smith just googled vancouver island, wow that place looks fantastic with amazing views. yeah she'll be alright, its not horrible for a pillion seat and if the journeys less than 30-45min then not a massive issue. Plus my misses was used to a cruiser pillion seat with more padding. Your going to love that bike and the orange looks really nice! Thanks for watching the video and your comment buddy, ride safe mate!
Hello, your video is really helpful to me. I'm from VietNam and Honda has just opened an official > 500cc bike here in HCM city. So I am in the crossroad of CB500f and CB650f as a daily commuter. But I think I will chose CB500f due to the heavy traffic in my city. - I wonder why there's no gear indicator here ???
I would look into if a rear cowl is available to compliment the rear seat. Snap on seat for passenger, replace with cowl for weekend camping trip! YeA!
Gearing sounds similar to what I'm on now, I'm gonna upgrade or think i am to this from my CFMoto 150-A Leader and yer at 60km/h I'm in 3rd or 4th depending on where i want my revs to be sitting, the bikes got decent power for a 150 in the high rpm above 6000 and it feels fast so 3rd on a highway is nice for that quick boost of power if its needed, 4th I'm just to low in the rpm that it takes a second to really go so its more for cruising at 60. All depends on the traffic conditions but i like the gearing but its not everyones cup of tea when you constantly juggling between 1st and 2nd during start and stop traffic.
yeah gear changing can be annoying, but the CBR500F was a pretty good bike and you will notice the build quality straight away from the CFMoto, but like all bikes, test ride it and see how you like it first.
Yer so far i like what I've seen and i went in and it was nice to look at but I'm going to test ride it first because i might feel like shit riding it, who knows lol. Also CFMoto was bad, the bike i got from them was one of the first in Australia but now they are fairly decent, still cheap but not half as bad as most might think. They got a lot of brands to partner with them since coming to Australia and i was seriously considering getting this www.cfmoto.com.au/650NK%20ABS before i seen the Honda.
Nice looking bike. I ride the (much older) CB500S. I like the look of the NC750S, I think it looks amazing, especially in the red/black combination, and a tonne of storage which I like. Worried by the total lack of balls though, on paper has less hp than my current bike. Need to test ride one really
yeah Honda are making some really good looking bikes as of late. Both the colour choices on the NC750S do look nice. You should definitely test ride one before making your mind up. Your 500S gearing is quite tall and some of the new Honda's have short gearing or really low rev limiters which can take a bit to get used to. But at the end of the day, any day (or night) on two wheels is a great time regardless of the bike :D
+slimdudeDJC yes you can change anything you don't like. If I owned this bike I would have changed them so I can see behind me better. Smaller people might not have this problem also.
they are pretty good bikes for your first bike. as they have that Honda reliability, and with its lightweight and nimble size you will really enjoy it. your English was perfect!
+Luti Tulur yeah Australia has long roads too, but to be honest this bike has plenty of power for what it is. 650 would be nice, but not much difference unless launching from the traffic lights
depends on what type of riding you will be doing. the MT03 is smaller both in size and engine power, but it is lighter. Is this going to be your first bike? how tall are you? taller riders will fit on both, but the CB500F has a little bit more room. ultimately it comes down to what you want. if you are unsure, go and have a look at both bikes. if you haven't got your licence, at least just go to a dealer and sit on them both. look at what feels nicer, what has better visibility in the mirrors, do you feel cramped on either, that sort of thing. they are both good bikes that will hold their value. I have not ever ridden an MT-03, but for me i would go the 500F as it has more power. But i wouldn't mind seeing how the 03 performs with its lighter frame and nimbleness in traffic.
Yes, first bike, Im 19 y/o, 1.75m tall. Personally like the appearence of the cb, but the yama is a lot cheaper. Just don't know if the difference is worth it. Is it cheap in inspections and overall repairs? Thanks for the response, I will try and more info ^^
a quick google of its top speed and i found "Cruising at the legal limit is easily possible, with a top speed of about 110mph" (about 180km) and there was another video on RUclips which showed a guy going 177km so i would have to say that it would easily go 70-75 mph. most bikes above 125cc will be able to do that on the highway, through some hills in and anything below 300cc will start to struggle, so CB500F has plenty of power for a smallish bike.
Both are very similar in riding position and size. But price wise, you can get a 2013 model cb500f for half the price of a relatively new last year's model z650. Cost wise if that's the decider, then Honda is more affordable.if you want power though, then the z650 has a fair bit more as the engine is larger (471cc vs 649cc). Overal, If you want something that's cheaper to run and purchase, then go the Honda, especially if the riding you will be doing is commuting in an urban city. If you want something that is better suited for highway speeds then the z650. Costs a bit more as they haven't been out for as long so you will have to get either new or relatively new (well here in Australia at least). But it will hold its value a little bit better than the Honda. Both are great bikes for a first bike. Have a sit on both to get the feel for them, and if you have your licence ask them for a test ride.
+Luiz Adolfo Carvalho prices are different depending on where you are in the world, so the best way to find out the price is on the Honda website or a website such as redbook (shows the original price and what you would expect to pay second hand)
+Daniel Schlegel yep I would go through the gears quick and before you know it I would be in 6th when I hit 80 km. It would take a bit getting used to the gears and revving it out more per gear but ultimately I found the gear ratios to be quite close to each other.
In the title you clearly state this is a "Honda CBR500F", but in the video you (correctly) state CB500F. Do you actually know what bike you are talking about? Cum'on man.
It's a bit tricky - CBR500R, CB500F, CB500X, so one CBR and two CB. I've read that some insurances charge more for the CBR than for the CB because the CBR stands for "high performance" even though the engines are the same.
i see the connection to motorcycles in this song! I dont think it would go with that style of review though, but maybe one of a girl riding a cherry red sports bike perhaps :D
the review was really good. the music not so much.
They new CB500 range is a great bike for a new rider to learn and grow on.
I totally agree with that too :)
It was one of my first bike choices.
+E2Moto yeah great starters to intermediate bikes
If I had given up on the DRZ400SM's seat height(I'm 5'7"), I would have been riding this bike. The CB500F is amazingly light, and perfect for commuting.
It's a great bike for a rider of any skill level.
1:35 to get past the super gay intro music
thank God for the mute feature, good review though! seek better music soon!
+Ace Gkhan you get what you pay for. That's free music lolz
Josh H I
No music at all beats that awful excuse for music.
Gay or not, the music is irritating. WHY?
at first i understood "this is a glock, it's optional" haha
sorry to be offtopic but does someone know a trick to get back into an Instagram account?
I somehow forgot my login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me
@Nikolai Archie instablaster :)
Totally agree about the gear.. when in 6th gear your foot will automatically kick up looking for another gear
I rode one yesterday and it’s surprisingly cool as a first bike to get, just love the clutch how it feels . I only wish it could go faster ...
its a good size to start on and great for commuting in urban areas.
You have great taste in music.
.... said no one ever.
+Marek Sumguy haga you almost had me
Just bought one as my first bike and thus far I'm digging it...only difference from this one is I have an aftermarket exhaust. I don't like the look/sound of the stock.
+Manny Manteca that's fantastic and a great choice of bike for your first ride :) yeah that stock exhaust is pretty dismal!

Thanks for watching the video and your comment buddy, ride safe mate!
You too mate!
I am still wowed how amazing it looks
she was a great looking bike
I love the look of the engine casing & cam cover. Stripes on the tank are cool too.
yeah the look of the bike it is well designed
Man you still managed to pump out a comprehensive review despite smashing your camera lens! Good work!
thanks buddy, and thanks for your help filming some bits :D
im getting this bike in the summer i can't wait
+Bryce Davis it's a great bike! What colour you wanting to get?
Hello, your video is really helpful to me. I'm from VietNam and Honda has just opened an official > 500cc bike here in HCM city. So I am in the crossroad of CB500f and CB650f as a daily commuter. But I think I will chose CB500f due to the heavy traffic in my city.

Yeah they are great and keep their value. You could always install an aftermarket one.
Man that is a good looking bike my friend. I like it.
Excellent review , thank for sharing and I hope you have a blessed week my friend.
thanks HDS!
No gear Indicator ??
This bike had an upgrade in 2019 and has a gear indicator, new dash altogether
Very well done review, it answered all my questions about this bike.
Thank you :)
I would look into if a rear cowl is available to compliment the rear seat. Snap on seat for passenger, replace with cowl for weekend camping trip! YeA!
+rockbay79 that's a good idea. I only hired that bike, but was wondering, to help out people in the future, I'd you knew a link to what you mean
Awesome review! Thinking about getting this bike, was wondering though... at what km/hr are you going when you shift from 1st gear to second?
Can't remember, might be around 50 km
Great review mate thanks, my wife is really interested in this bike so thanks for the honest review and your great easy going style!
no problems buddy. it is a pretty good bike, just felt too small for me and the gearing was too short for my riding style.
We are both 165cm so im guessing it would be all good thanks again mate!
mate that's honestly perfect height for the CBR500F
Nice review. Bought the X version 500 miles ago. So far so good.
+Professor cbX jealous, I think the x model is awesome :)
Looks nice. I wish it had a gear indicator. I know the CB300F doesn't so I thought they would add one to their 500cc bike.
yeah it would be handy but i guess like any bike you would just get used to it and only want to know what gear it's in when in top gear
True.
Pretty comprehensive review mate, well done! Quality producing too.
thanks buddy :) I really enjoyed making this one, might make another bike review soon
Thank you! for a clear and comprehensive review. I have one question. I guest at this size and 47bhp the front wheel does not lift?
+Dallas Cuthbertson nah pretty hard to lift. Maybe if you shift weight rear and pull handlebars. But otherwise really stable on launch
Nice looking bike. I ride the (much older) CB500S. I like the look of the NC750S, I think it looks amazing, especially in the red/black combination, and a tonne of storage which I like. A first aid kit would fit under seat just about right .
GREAT bike but I HATE how they keep jacking up the rear seat. STOP it !!!
Just put a sack of potatoes on it and problem solved.
About the mirrors: can't you just change them for longer ones? (compatible, albeit)
+slimdudeDJC yes you can change anything you don't like. If I owned this bike I would have changed them so I can see behind me better. Smaller people might not have this problem also.
that's going to be my first bike in a month or two, can't wait..
p.s. sorry for my english, it is not my native tongue
they are pretty good bikes for your first bike. as they have that Honda reliability, and with its lightweight and nimble size you will really enjoy it. your English was perfect!
your english is better than most 1st language english speakers
That was better english than most natives haha
comparison between 500 and 650 bro. some countries have large road infrastructures.
+Luti Tulur yeah Australia has long roads too, but to be honest this bike has plenty of power for what it is. 650 would be nice, but not much difference unless launching from the traffic lights
I don't know if you tried a MT-03, but do you think that almost 1000 euros more is worth for this bike instead of the yamaha?
depends on what type of riding you will be doing. the MT03 is smaller both in size and engine power, but it is lighter. What is its top speed? Basically I'm just wondering if it can easily reach 70 to 75 mph for highway use. Any answer is appreciated!
a quick google of its top speed and i found "Cruising at the legal limit is easily possible, with a top speed of about 110mph" (about 180km) and there was another video on RUclips which showed a guy going 177km so i would have to say that it would easily go 70-75 mph. most bikes above 125cc will be able to do that on the highway, through some hills in and anything below 300cc will start to struggle, so CB500F has plenty of power for a smallish bike.
outie555 Awesome. Thank you so much for answering!
*throw some hills (not through)
outie555 All good. I got what you meant. It happens!
This cb500f or kawi z650, which one is more suitable for beginners?
Both are very similar in riding position and size. But price wise, you can get a 2013 model cb500f for half the price of a relatively new last year's model z650. outie555 cheers mate. Your opinion helped me. 👍👍
what a music!
my ears are falling off and my head is changing shape to cube!
HELP!
Drugs are bad mm k
FUAAAA! Sick panning bro! Had you had a gimbal it would have been spot on!!
i was actually really surprised how it turned out, considering it was all shot on my samsung galaxy S4, but your right about having a gimbal :P
Seriously? On an S4?! Dayum!
do you happen to remember what brand the stock tires are?
at 0:52 i can see a dunlop logo on the front tyre
i see , great. thanks for the quick response.
Nice review mate.
Why did you hire a bike?
thanks buddy. I hired it when myrandomlife247 came down to Sydney - I'll release a video very soon and you will see why :)
are you doing a 500r video comparison
+Joseph Lawrence I would love to but thus was a hire bike so its gone back to the hire company
who's the intro music by its awesome
+Joseph Lawrence its in the description and a link to sound cloud :)
@@outie555 thanks man 👍
Skip the music next time
But it's so fabulous though
Nice tip of the helmet to motovlogger Cycle Cruza.
+J. Santiago let's go for a ride haha!
skip the F...... music
What about the price?
+Luiz Adolfo Carvalho prices are different depending on where you are in the world, so the best way to find out the price is on the Honda website or a website such as redbook (shows the original price and what you would expect to pay second hand)
i want one too, how high does it rev?
6th gear and you're at 80?
+Daniel Schlegel yep I would go through the gears quick and before you know it I would be in 6th when I hit 80 km. It would take a bit getting used to the gears and revving it out more per gear but ultimately I found the gear ratios to be quite close to each other.
if it's your shifting which gets you to 80 in 6th gear, then it's not the bikes fault isnt it?
+Daniel Schlegel absolutely as its not the gearing for me. A lot of people will love it I'm sure
so, you're just the type who'd like to rev like to 13k or somethin like that haha?
Cool! Liked song.
+Jailson Maia yes :) thanks buddy
Such a sexy bike
Yeah they do look fantastic
man, below 600cc, these motorbike sound like vacuum or farm vehicle, tractor, fork lift, sad but true
In the title you clearly state this is a "Honda CBR500F", but in the video you (correctly) state CB500F. Do you actually know what bike you are talking about? Cum'on man.
+Shon Thompson wow omg! Thanks buddy, I'll fix that up! You're the first to point that out
It's a bit tricky - CBR500R, CB500F, CB500X, so one CBR and two CB. I've read that some insurances charge more for the CBR than for the CB because the CBR stands for "high performance" even though the engines are the same.
Worst abomination of what you call music on this video. Not tolerable.
+Paul White what free music/artist would you prefer?
freakn annoying music
+amir mclovin can you recommend any other royalty free songs to use in the future?
Very stupid music
Very intelligent comment
Its rude to point btw
+Slack Man why?
worst music i ever heard
what music would you have preferred?
i see the connection to motorcycles in this song! I dont think it would go with that style of review though, but maybe one of a girl riding a cherry red sports bike perhaps :D
2 cats fighting would have sounded better
Can anyone kindly do a review minus the all mens club shitty music
Ok I will use woman's club music next time
No gear indicator?
No. Don't need it once you get a feel for the bike revs Vs speed.
