Mike I enjoy your your video school. One thing that has worked well for me is the mud trick, mortar on bricks and walls and portland on the ground. Mud trick is magical when you don’t notice anything had been done. Everything looks the same. I also like hearing, “Just get it done, no big deal!” I appreciate all your advice, keep the videos going as long as you can and thanks for sharing many of the things you know with us.
Looks great Mike. I like to watch you do masonry. Sometimes when I notice brick walls, or other brick or stone structures, I am now more aware of how they are constructed because of what I see you do. I enjoy your channel.
What a great video!! My steps are far beyond this, but I'm going to try my best to patch and put things into place anyway. thanks you sir for all of your tips!
Thanks Mike your the greatest 🙌 you had help me thur out the years as a veteran help me do repairs in my house 🏠, have a Happy Christmas and a Happy NEW YEAR
Merry Christmas to you Mike and thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. please keep making your videos very much enjoy them and look forward to them.
Pouring out more good info, both in the video and your responses to commenters' questions. I expect we'll see that discarded step in another project. I expected the cracked step was the one needing replacement (trip hazard) and merely clean and grout the back of the bottom step since it was solid lengthwise.
@@MikeHaduck Like me and my handyman business. I work alone most times. I keep more friends that way. I’ve been told I’m both a perfectionist and pest.😂
Hi Mike! Thank you so much for all the information you put in this video. I wonder where can I buy the limestone tread. I live in New England. Thank you much Mike.
Hi Trac, up your way I would think you could get the granite slabs, which would be more friendly to your weather, but stone yards should have them, thanks, Mike
Hi john , the wheel would be on my amazon site in the description box. I did repoint only the missing joints, to go over the others would not have helped as the steps are too old, that's why I did not bang on them, it would be like painting over rust, thanks Mike
Thank you for your teaching first! And I have a question: you showed us to change a new one for the serious one, and I got it! How to fix another one just break with one line? What material used ? Thank you very much.
Good stuff Mike you are old school 👍 Be old stone mason We call tossing in UK we used yoghurt or milk make go mouldy all the other thing we used to use ronafix mix up with dirt paint it on with paint brush make the Portland stone and York stone steps to and stone repairs make looks old 👍
I have similar steps with the large stones. One is pulling away from the rest. It is solid to step on but looks terrible and I am sure water is getting behind it. I can't do this work myself. What would be an honest reasonable price for a mason to do it? Thank you.
Good Afternoon Mike. Thanks for your videos! I have a question about your portland mixed paint. I have garden edging (concrete cast) that is orange and I donn't like that color. If I paint my edging with portland mixed paint would it be good solution to change the color? I just want to get rid of that ugly orange color. How would you approach this kind of problem? Thanks again and I wish you all the best!
Did you buy a new stair or did you make it? Do you have a video on how to repair that second stair with the crack? Those stairs look exactly like mines. And I have a few bricks loose. Wish you were here in Ohio to fix mines. Or assist. Thanks for the video
You do very excellent work! Merry Christmas to you and the family! By the way, did you ever show us how to build a traditional fireplace for the home with real fire brick and all that good stuff?
@@MikeHaduck Thanks Mike. I meant it when I said your work is great. You are one of the best in masonry I have ever seen. Thanks for responding. I am a Carpenter, but just curious about the build on a traditional fireplace. One guy showed us how to do it, but he didn't tell us the dimensions on how much to curve the back firewall to set the damper on top. If I do it, I'll have to guess. Also I don't know how much to curve the outer brick wall in to get the clay chimney pieces to set on the brick wall. It's really artwork in my opinion. I found your outdoor brick fireplace video from 8 years ago, so I'll have a peak.
Hi General, its called a limestone thread, you can get them sometimes in bluestone or other types, check your masonry supply, stone yards or landscaping yards, if they dont have it they will no somebody who does, mike

Thx for all of the knowledge you share, Mike. What is your opinion on grout bags and their use for repointing brick chimneys and stone foundations?
Ho Boz, anything that works, I am more traditional and usually force it with a slicker, but some guys like it, thanks mike

Hi sjh, lime don't work in my area, masons stopped using it years ago, thanks Mike
