Working as houseparents at Milton Hershey School means uprooting your life to live and work in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Houseparents and their families live in apartments attached to the student home. For children of houseparents, they will become part of the MHS community and benefit by watching you directly impact many lives. They enjoy meals with students, play games together, and support each other in after-school activities, whether at MHS or in the local community.
One houseparent couple, the Cains, value that the houseparent career allows their children to see what they do every day and refer to it as, "the ultimate bring your kid to work day." The family environment allows their students to accept their children as family and vice versa.
