So you think telling another country what to buy and change their energy infrastructure is within the purview of the Canadian government? Yes, happens all the time, right? It sounds like a splendid idea but alas, in another global landscape, perhaps on another solar system. No other country is telling Saskatchewan not to use coal to generate electricity. That IS within the purview of the federal government.

More scandals than could be listed here, increased national debt at highest level of any PM in history, increased the deficit with no plan ever to eliminate it resulting in record inflation and interest rates in 40 years (as his Dad left us with), drove up costs with the carbon tax to solve a problem that does not exist, weak stance on his buddies in China, poor defence management, introduced censorship laws, failed miserably to deliver on indigenous promises and an open door immigration policy that has made the housing crisis an almost impossible issue to resolve. It should be noted that 9 years ago Canadians had parity in terms of per capita GDP with the US, and now Canadians are at 60%. This is a bad idea for a few reasons.
    1. Natural gas emissions are lower during combustion than coal, but lifecycle they are far worse because of leakage during production, transport, and storage. This has only been quantified recently but it makes a big difference and unfortunately offsets the difference when only a few % leak.
    2. Even if we could do it, those gas plants on India's grid would be in service for far too long and would still be a climate disaster
    3. Instead, Canada should leverage its nuclear expertise and help develop a low cost, standardized design nuclear reactor to use in Canada and worldwide.

It is incumbent upon Poilievre to frame others as "loons" (He gives everyone some kind of insulting moniker but that's besides the point). By doing so, he is the savior and all others are villains.
The truth is that those who are staunchly opposed to things like NatGas development are very few and far between. Very few are saying stop any and all resource development, including the Liberal and NDP party - both of whom aim to balance economic growth with environmental sustainability. This is well understood in many circles who follow politics.
