This entire activity is wrong in too many ways. It starts with the working in a live 400AMP panel. They make these neat pieces of equipment called GENERATORS. SAFETY FIRST. This is not how to pull cable.
I wish my old boss had a winch. We did it by hand with dishwashing liquid, 16 mm2 single phase mains to 8 townhouse/units furthest 2 were about 90 metres away. What made me cry was that they put 90 degree sweeps at the end.
Watched a crew run wires for an X-ray machine . The conduit was outside and about 60' long. They hard problems for some reasons and ended up using their pickup for strength. Was surprised they didn't pull conduit off building. They had nice audience for this comical effort.
Not sure if you did but steel 90° bends are a good idea on pulls this long. Also don't crowd yourself with your spools keeping them back gives you room to work.
had to pause at 3:30 *facepalm* stop and get a generator! and never suck into a live 400A panel if that pipe had water on the inside it would've been a disaster .
What an absolute disgrace. pulling into a live 400A panel with no arc flash gear while using little kids as helpers. Not even long sleeves or leather gloves. Imagine the quality of work lol.
The wires feeding that main breaker are still live, just the bus was off… should’ve pulled off the meter, used wire pulling lube, a bushing or insulated throat connector, an actual wire jacks stands with equipment holding a pulling shiv/wheel instead of hoisting those reels overhead… and too many other things to list. Lucky to get wire pulled without a catastrophe
Great job very interesting but that is why you SHOULD BE WEARING WORK BOOTS ON A CONSTRUCTION SITE. Imagine if it was a piece of metal or the hook that hit his ankle? EVERYONE especially the kids should be wearing safety work boots
Amatuers, I would never try that pull with just tape and that kind of sock. No bushings on pipe! Head not lubed and added as pulled. Aluminum wire??????
Remember u also have to size for length and degree of bends when calculating pipe size. I don't know if the south wire app shows it but some of the apps I think the greenlee one will show a theoretical pulling force required and when u are at risk of binding in a certain size pipe. It's generally a good idea to not be at the limits of the pipe size. Also on long runs sometimes it's better to make all the 90s in a run out of rigid with changeovers as the rope and jetline can cut grooves in a PVC 90. If u have another pull I recommend having reel jacks or a piece of pipe instead of that chain that was actually really dangerous and u have a 1000# floating over you. If that had landed square on his calf he could have had a serious injury, torn ligaments, etc.
3x350 kCMIL and a ground should have been in 2 1/2" conduit of you stubbed up schedule 80 at the other end. You suck in a jet line and pull in a 1/4" rope or some mule tape. Ust the small rope to pull in the big rope. You needed a plastic bushing on the conduit you were feeding into. You should have also used some wire lube. Other than that, you got er done.
I do not get - why not to consult some good practicioner before doing it and recording it. So many things make me cringe. I would not like anyboy see me do such a cowboy job, let alone the whole Internet.
No good amigo...no ppe, under size pvc, wrong feed for ground wire,no lube, exposed hot guts, spools to close to good pull, overhead spools awfully too close to man feeding,
Feeding with the reels close to the conduit is a terrible idea. You need room to pull off some slack. Need a plastic bushing on connector at the panel, I bet you scratched the hell out of your feeders. The electrician on the radio running the tugger should have told you what to do. Sounds like you might have offended him though so he decided to watch you struggle.
This looked more like a hobby task than a wire pull conducted by trained electrical professionals. The lack of PPE, poor communication, underaged labor, and hazardous working conditions are indications of mismanagement.
....................no bushings..................so soap.........................the pecker head is to big....................wire should be pulling from the bottom of the reel.........wire feeding to close to the panel .........................
There is so much wrong with this video, its appauling. The head size in the most abhorrent. Then the crush hazard of the wire spoils above you guys. Next time, dont. Ive done some dangerous stuff, but not to the point id be part of a darwinism compilation.
These guys weak 🥴👀💁♂️….. should have used mule tape to see the length of wire to order, and it has more strength to pull the rope in and they need a Greenlee G1 for the small Stuff 😂😂😂😂
no pvc bushings on those metal emt connectors going into panels?
Also wire lube is a must on those long pulls
Just for future reference, wire lube helps a lot, a lot let stress on the machine and makes it getting the wire through the bends much easier
And long sweeps
Next time use a plastic bushing to protect the conductors. Make sure to megger the conductors

Pulling without a bushing in place? Lmao
clown show
No pulling lube.
No safety equipment.
Lol, 😂
@@SeraphimCherubim not even a spit :/
Love that your kids are just hanging and watching. Such great memories

That is brutal work.
Watched a crew run wires for an X-ray machine . The conduit was outside and about 60' long. They hard problems for some reasons and ended up using their pickup for strength. Was surprised they didn't pull conduit off building. They had nice audience for this comical effort.
some great idea is to put some Cable Pulling Lubricant in the beginning when pulling the wires
Love watching you work. What a great endeavour you have undertaken. “Ready to Rock n Roll”
I've pulled that by hand a few times (not alone) and it made for a long hard day.... Good to see you had a winch
No wire lube?
What in the world is this a professional electrician would not be feeding wire with those reels above him like that. Insane
How mach do you paid for pulling machine ?
Wire Ease ??? I wonder if that first 90 held up ???☘
Wow that view from your property is insane!! 😮😍
Its kind of interesting how this is all done. Looking forward to the rest of the home build.
For sure!! 😊👍.
They stop feeding and turn around to look at the spools without telling the other end to stop tugging 😂
Where is your soap. You should use wire pulling soap. Also your connectors inside your panel should have plastic bushings.
I was wishing I could reach through the screen and help with pulling the wires. That was a great job done by all!
The fact that that lady keeps standing under the wire just blows me away the lack of responsibility and safety.
Hire a licensed electrician next time and sew that guy for injuring you with his negligence. Hate working with guys like this. They will get you hurt.
Sue. Pretty sure they don't need to make clothes for the next guy. 😊
Hi, great video. Just curious, why pull the ground from all the way over there instead of just driving ground rods right by the house?
Not sure if you did but steel 90° bends are a good idea on pulls this long.
Also don't crowd yourself with your spools keeping them back gives you room to work.
I really wish I would have known this earlier. We had the spools way to close as you can tell.
That winch is impressive! Great job, Joel...and crew!
House build series are SO satisfying to watch. Interesting to see the progress and processes.
What size is that conduit ??
looks like they need to one size up on that emt
Gotta know a lot to able to do all you do! So interesting to watch!
had to pause at 3:30 *facepalm* stop and get a generator! and never suck into a live 400A panel if that pipe had water on the inside it would've been a disaster .
Excelente

Perhaps my eyes, but the main breaker looks off for the pull.

Thank Mr Hoellein / Mr Today's Task....😜
Perfect tutorial on how NOT to pull wire. Leave it to the professionals. 💯
Great job very interesting but that is why you SHOULD BE WEARING WORK BOOTS ON A CONSTRUCTION SITE. Imagine if it was a piece of metal or the hook that hit his ankle?
EVERYONE especially the kids should be wearing safety work boots
I found that so interesting! Great job 👏🏻
fill the buss with breakers to assure not touching the juice....
That’s amazing!
May you please give me model of this winch machine ?
That was a Greenlee UT10 Boom, with a 6901 Cable Puller
Amatuers, I would never try that pull with just tape and that kind of sock. No bushings on pipe! Head not lubed and added as pulled. Aluminum wire??????
I don't think that conduit is rated for that much wire. That's a really tight fit.
I know, it looks tight.
We used the SouthWire app to configure our voltage drop, ground and conductor size and even conduit size. That app is amazing.
Remember u also have to size for length and degree of bends when calculating pipe size. Pulling the extra slack with the tugger an inch at a time 😂😂😂😂 pull that slack by hand son.
Rookies, we did it with brute force, 300+ feet no problem. Should’ve ran a 3” pipe. Dofus.
Size wire?
Wow that is so interesting never knew that is how that was done
To bad you didn't se done by a professional crew
Ever heard of a generator or get a dewalt batrery powered vaccum. Just sucked in a rat in 3" conduit that was over 400'
Fantastic video, thanks for making this!!
A winch? You mean a tugger with a cat head. Not a winch.
Yup,,, maybe this is in Canada 🇨🇦
😂 why didn't you guys use wire lube and wth is with the caddy hanging off bucket?
Super cool and very interesting how it’s all done!

It’s called a ᗪ乇卂ᗪ 千尺ㄖ几ㄒ for a reason. James should know to shut that shit down ☠️
No good amigo...no ppe, under size pvc, wrong feed for ground wire,no lube, exposed hot guts, spools to close to good pull, overhead spools awfully too close to man feeding,
Next time have all your spools feeding the wire over rather than under. You shot yourself on the foot with the green wire spool
Great video👍🏻
The pure genius ideas you come up with is amazing to me.
Do you think he came up with any of this? Lol
Wire lube
Who sized this conduit? Soap anyone?
Dangerous situation with many lives in danger, call an electrician next time.
The phase conductor colors don’t look right 😂
Tugger rope should wrap around the small black pulley 😂

Heck, just weld up a tire rim, then hook up the truck, and pull that way. Only need to drive 200 feet or so.
This looked more like a hobby task than a wire pull conducted by trained electrical professionals. The lack of PPE, poor communication, underaged labor, and hazardous working conditions are indications of mismanagement.
So many things wrong with this video its hard to know were to start
Lol...all of you, fired!
Your conduit looked
That was pretty cool!! Got you some good help for sure! Thanks for sharing! Take care and be safe out there! 👍❣❣❤❣❣👍
내가 보기엔 똑똑해 보이지 않았다.

전선관은 두배로 커야 한다.
WHERES THE GREASE!
....................no bushings..................so soap.........................the pecker head is to big....................wire should be pulling from the bottom of the reel.........wire feeding to close to the panel .........................
Plastic grocery bags make the best mice. Buying one is stupid.
Why didn’t you have footage of the puller? Just a bummer video.. but great job .. :)
it's actually called a wire pulling piston.
There is so much wrong with this video, its appauling. The head size in the most abhorrent. Then the crush hazard of the wire spoils above you guys. Next time, dont. Ive done some dangerous stuff, but not to the point id be part of a darwinism compilation.
Cable bro. Its cable
