Prashanth, I watched the movie after seeing your review. Perhaps, you seem to have missed few aspects that I noticed. Flaws exist, but that impact the movie makes overshadows them.
Intense cop drama.Very emotional father-daughter bond. Mr.Rajinikanth the protoganist carries the entire plot through his performance & charisma.
Nivetha Thomas won our hearts & wish she acts again with #superstar.Her performance stays in emotions.
I am not a person who writes commentary on commercial cinema. But the emotional content conveyed so impactfully by
ARM made the experience of watching this movie meaningful. Its subtle & beautiful. Thats what stayed after watching the movie. BGM by Anirudh compliments. Families will love this for sure. Perhaps, one needs be a father of a daughter to appreciate this.
Last but not the least, The biggest surprise for me is how this plot created space for #Superstar, the actor to come with myriads of emotions & performance leveraging his natural charisma. I wish film/ theater schools/ other aspiring actors study the icon called #Rajinikanth, the performer. Only a trained actor can create this impact.

Positives:
Awesome entry scene for Thalaivar.
The director has utilized the good guys appropriately.
Superstar screen presence, Nivetha Thomas's bubbliness, Yogi Babu's comic timing and Nayantara's beauty has been totally paisa vasool.
1st half of the movie is very satisfying, fast paced and you feel like the Rajini's 90's movies.
The villians have acted well.
Negatives: Sunil Shetty has acted well but has been excessively underused. Blame the director for not using his potential. The villian name 'Hari Chopra' sounds pitiable types and not at all terrorizing.
Sunil Shetty's entry scene is very funny. He is shown like some beggar getting an award rather than showing him as an evil who snatches what he wants. His entry to India is like gully boys entering a closed playground by tearing fence. Lameness is the word. The three villians should have had better names. For eg. Amar Akbar Antony being attacked by Aditya Arunasalam would have sounded better.
Sunil Shetty who is the key antagonist is shown like a dummy piece.
Overall, watch it for Thalaivar. Except for under utilization of an actor like Sunil Shetty, movie is a treat to watch.
PS: You'll like this movie if you watch as a Rajini fan and not as a neutral cinema lover.
If you ever think you are useless, think about Hari Chopra in Darbar. 🤦🏻♂️

This guy said the movie didn't feel like a 200cr budget film. I watched the movie in Melbourne tonight, and it was amazing. By far the best Rajini film in the past 5-7 years. Best scenes, shots and angles. Music vera level. No logical errors. Beautiful cinematography. Yogi babu super comedy. Villain was actually good, Suniel Shetty. This prashanth guy is expecting Joker in real life. Mass movie. I watched Bigil recently, and I can say bravely, Darbar is 10 times better.

One time worth to watch with family. Actually, I came out of rajini fan club 5 years back....but I enjoyed this movie.. As a general audience. I can say this is like 100 days .80s movie..If you like 80s SP muthuraman movies.. you like this movie. Go to theatre without applying your Artificial😜 intelligence brain...your research in the film making, rajini age, rajini's political entry, blue sattai review etc... you will luv this..

It is an extra-ordinary film.
I got the same amount of goosebumps today, compared to the time when I watched Baasha in 1995.
Thalaivar's energy level in the movie is at different level. I am not sure whether he would have acted at this level when he was 30 years old.
Great work by the complete team.
This includes Nayanthara, Yogi Babu, Daughter Niveditha, Sunil Shetty (Villain), BGM by Anirudh, Direction by AR Murugadass sir and the rest of the team ….
Big applause for the whole Darbar team !!!
