Just dropping a note here that we did play our first game of this as a 5 player co-op and it was great, so don't be put off by either of those. Co-op is challenging since you need to achieve multiple objectives, and you really have to be diligent to make sure you are progressing them. Co-op is also a great way to teach the game since it takes care of the skill gap between players and you can work to help eachother out. I guess that's really a group dynamic thing, you'll probably know if co-op is for your group or not depending on your preferences. 5 player, yeah it's probably a little longer than optimal, but you can probably say that about any 5 player game. If you regularly have 5 players like we do, this is definitely in the mix. Our group would rather play a slightly long 5 player game than split and play separate 2 and a 3 player games 100% of the time. Again, that's probably a group dynamic thing, and you'll know ahead of time. Compared to Age of Sail, this game is an improvement on far more than just the theme. Every element of the game has been expanded, streamlined and polished to be better in every way. If you liked Age of Sail, you'll love this, and if you didn't like Age of Sail, give this a try, it might change your mind.
Thanks for the in-depth presentation and review. I really enjoyed it! While I don’t have the game yet, I’ve printed the rules, and I must say they are some of the clearest game rules I’ve read this year. The iconography is well-designed-simple yet efficient. I’m excited to see how these clear rules and thoughtful design translate into gameplay. It feels like the creators put a lot of effort into making the game approachable without sacrificing depth.
Haven't played the original one and got straight into this one, played it two times already and I'm loving it, as well as everyone who has played it too. Definitely getting among my most liked games (time will tell how long it'll stay there). Also, for the art and components, I like it very much, but I have the Deluxe edition and that makes a difference.
My copy should arrive next week, and I will take your advice to mix up the scenarios. I am definitely a tracks-upon-tracks guy and can’t wait to play. Hoping the bagasse inserts hold up long term. And like everyone else is saying, great shirt, Mr Howard!
Just know you may not be good at the game right put the gate. It's difficult to get everything done and since players build the map that might change your strategy. Focua on movement and conservation to move up the tracks. This will also open up your impact board scoring.
Great review! I played Age of Sail once and enjoyed the mechanics but yea, that theme… I pivoted pretty hard off of that. I was excited to see this version and happy to back it. I do remember your solo play through. It looks like you have the deluxe version. If so, I’m curious how the mini-expansions played and what they added to the game? My copy is due to arrive soon. Can’t wait to get it to the table!
Thanks for the great review. I played the original once but didn’t like the colonial theme at all, so I am very excited to try this version as this theme appeals to me. Also, I like that some of the area control has been reduced too.
Yeah the area control has become more of a take advantage of opportunity situation and it rewards everyone for pushing the board forward so I'm down for that. Thanks for watching.
Forget the game, let's talk about that shirt. 9.5/10
Dan Flashes original
Thank you lol.
Agree, that is a fantastic shirt
Beat me to it.

I may give five player a shot. I just want to keep the gameplay time down. Coop...I just can't. It feels lime a solo game or multiplayer.
The first review I have seen where the FASHION outshines the product. That shirt is fire. Can't wait for my copy of the game to arrive.
Well I hope you liked the content too and thanks for the compliment.
I like the way you present. Always jovial & positive
Thank you. I bring the energy no matter if the review is good or not so good.
It's me..I like what I like and if I don't you'll always not. I don't mince words.
Great delivery. One of the more honest reviews from this channel.
Thanks for the review, I'm excited for this to arrive and hit the table!
Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
Do you mind saying where you got that shirt if it’s internet-orderable?
D'yani
@@meeple Rad. Just ordered 4 shirts from them. Their stuff looks awesome.

Played again last weekend. Josh has some of the best rulebooks period.
Thanks for the review. Mine should be arriving next week and I'm very excited to get it to the table.
Hope you enjoy it!

The deluxe and non deluxe are both super high quality though

Yeah this one is a home run product
Let me know how it went and what scenario you chose.
I got my copy yesterday and played it today. I can confirm it is better than Age of Sail. I can also confirm it's good at 5.
I can confirm that this comment is correct🤣
Great review! Since I backed it, I’m especially happy to hear I’m not about to get a dud lol.
I don't think you'll find many reviewers who don't like this game.
I always keep it real with everyone. Thanks for watching.
Great review I’m looking forward to trying this out!
Hope you enjoy it!
Great shirt!
Looks interesting
Yeah I hope people do not overlook this one. It's one of the best for 2024
Got it last week, but couldn't find the shirt amongst the bubble wrap around the game. Haven't gotten the game to the table yet.

I wish I would have played the small expansion. I should have so I could at least give an impression.
Thx for your review!
P. S. You have some camera focus issues 😢
Noted. I had had a new camera left the auto focus on.
New camera messed some setting up
That shirt is so cool! Who cares about the game…
Love that shirt thank you!
That shirt!
Love that shirt!
