    Michael ignored by the phony ass critics, greatest blues guitarist period👍🏻

  • @ssvsssjs

    I have finally realized that Bloomfield is probably the greatest blues guitarist in history. He owns the essence and free flowing originality of blues. Not to take anything away from the other greatests Johnny Winters, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix. Bloomfield is the dive bar blues master hands down.

    I can't even imagine a better electric blues guitarist. Bloomers was both MELODIC and MEAN at the same time, characteristics that are usually exclusive to each other. Thanx for posting this track.

    Incredible soft touch and rich tone by Mike B. Just the best Les Paul blues player. Let's you savor every note and phrase. Nick G vocals the perfect counterpoint. Great trade off between them.

    Let's not miss the lyrics...
    "I'm gonna build me a little snowman, baby;
    Oh I'm gonna cover him with my tears;
    Yes, and when he melts in the spring time,
    Lord, yes, he's gonna take all my thoughts of you;
    Beautiful imagery, easily missed because it's so slow and there is so much soulful response going on from the guitar.

    I came up as a young guitar player idolizing MB. Still love this old stuff. He had developed a very tasteful style, incorporating sensitive dynamics and tonal subtleties, use of space, interesting modal lines, and one of my fav's... his distinctive pitch-bend down, rather than merely up. He died too young: I think he was left by friends in his car during a heroin overdose.

      Hey, lay off, Mark's piano is usually excellent and this guy is just noting it. I love Bloomer, listen to him since 1965, but nothing wrong with praising Naftalin.

    Thanks Z...I'm amazed at the wealth of Bloomfield you have. I've always thought there was a limited amount of his recorded stuff. Apart from the Kooper/Bloomfield recordings, I have "Don't Say That I Ain't Your Man! Michael Bloomfield Essential Blues 1964 - 1969". Listening to the stuff you've posted has blown me away! BTW, there's one song missing from the 'Super Session' collection in your posts - "You Don't Love Me". Would be nice to hear that again. Thanks again...

    I saw it live in person this and another show the audience was transfixed. At that time Michael was the best slow blues player with Albert king they had this slow blues power awesome to behold. It was Gravinites gig, that is the way Michael worked it.. this song and blues on the Westside on album "My Labors". The horn section wasn't too good though here.

    Hi Z... I know it's a drag to post edited tracks, but you could do us die-hard Bloomie fans a favor by posting them in 2 parts. These days there are numerous software programs that can join them with ease. Thanks dude!
