- In this episode of The Converted, we take a look at a gorgeous converted butter factory, situated in Newstead in Victoria’s shire of Mount Alexander. Constructed in 1904, the building was once the main dairy supplier for the surrounding region. Now, it has been renovated into a beautiful home for couple Greg Hatton and Katie Marx.

One of the most beautiful buildings transformed into a gorgeous home. I’m so glad this video was made! ✊🏾
I've had the idea of living in a small old factory since i was like 16. i am so jealous😂
This is how you bring an old building to life without erasing its old life. The way they celebrate the rough edges, the imperfections, the worn textures of everything is just so very, very good.
Sorry to be offtopic but does someone know a way to log back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly lost the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Ledger Oliver instablaster ;)
@Rey Salvador i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im trying it out now.
Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Rey Salvador it worked and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thanks so much, you really help me out!
@Ledger Oliver No problem :)
Lovely. Just lovely.
i love this house so much!
How awesome is that! So jealous of that space, amenity and honesty of the factory aesthetic. Well done 👍
Congrats on what you’ve created.. what a beautiful building/ home.
Also, nice LandRover!!
I love the building and that community event seemed idyllic. Especially now, seeing those people all together smiling and chatting actually brought a wee tear to my eye.
Here in Edinburgh, we've been under lockdown for more than a year and as I live alone and all gatherings are banned I have been completely alone throughout it all. Life before the pandemic seems like a dream now.
wow. Just amazing guys. Not only preserving a wonderful piece of industrial building and local history but you've created a truly beautiful home. well done.
wow! This is amazing
This place is lovely! I hope to convert a building into a beautiful home one day
Same. I worked on an abandoned pigeon coop and turned it into a little hang out. Not the best but it works.
I turned a former shop with a home above it into one large house. I found it was best to do all the structural, plumbing and electricity in one go. Once all that is done you can do decorating and other jobs as and when. But I've known people that didn't do those basics and you will always be having old pipes burst and electrics in the walls having issues etc and having to destroy what you've already done.
The other best advice I can give you is to think about how much you earn doing your normal job and how much a professional will change to say restore a sash window. It can be a false economy to take time from your own business to try and restore something learning as you go when you can just pay a professional to do it and earn what he charges five times over just by doing your normal job for the same amount of hours.
I learned that the hard way doing everything myself. Just some advice.
Really wonderful work you guys have done! Good going, God bless.
what great place to bring up family in, hope you pass it down to children
Great work people, Newstead a great little town, along with Carisbrook, those 2 towns also have wonderful Railway Station's just calling out for someone to rescue them. cheers.
It’s a big building so you’ll probably have a lot to do for years to come :)
What an AMAZING house!!!!!
Outstanding work guys! Much love from Sacramento, California, USA.
Awesome work Aussie!
yessss!!!! I love its kept to its original state, to an extent. that "OVER RENOVATE" is a killer you guys avoided
Cool building..
Beautiful.
What a video! Larry Dembrun
Perfect reno, not too much! 🇨🇦
I love this
Well done Greg and fam 🦋
People arent concerned about like, lead and chemicals in the air and surfaces with these old buildings lol? Id be running a air filter 24/7 in this place. Even if they replaced the insulation and walls id still be worried. But nice house! lol
Thank you, Debbie Downer. 🙄
Nice!
Beautiful buildings I seen it and was hoping it was going a be restorations and not a beautiful old building being vandalized
Wow
I'd sure like to find something like this in Iowa or South Dakota, U. S. A. for a conversion-home.
When you get money for all that free time working on rebuilding?
Need a little more paint and less rustic. More colour.😐🎨🎸🔨
